As a Kentuckian, I'm proud to wake up to this type of interview today. Way to go, Beshear. You're great for us, so now it's time to let you be great for America.
I respect what Beshear has done for Kentucky. I had preconceived notions about people from Kentucky (think McConnell) but this man impressed me when he won, but even more when he acted after major flooding in the state. He is definitely someone with a unifying message and ability to reach across divides. I think he’d be a good choice.
Andy is a good man. His actions match his words.
I attended school with McConnell's children even as he abandoned his family when he became Senator. Andy Beshear is nothing like McConnell. Thank you for your kind words about Kentucky. Harris/Beshear 2024 FTW!
I had preconceptions as well because other politicians from KY have been so awful. This is the first time I've heard him, and I'm very impressed. I'm still reading comments here and so far, not a single negative word.
To be fair, whoever replaces Mitch is likely to be worse.
@@s2snider I was so surprised by that too. The dislikes are way down too, less than 250 so far. Usually, if an MSNBC video has 2.5K likes the dislikes would be something like 3K (there's an add on to view dislikes). MAGA has been coming out of the woodwork since that incident in Butler, Pennsylvania last week and disliking videos en mass.
I am a proud Kentuckian and a PROUD two-time voter for Governor Andy Beshear! He’s done my state proud!
And the best thing about being voters in Kentucky is that most of us will cast our votes once more for Trump, who understands and loves us so much!

@ktsig287 You nailed it, well said! At a time when we need unity the most, I feel Beshear has a very genuine, benevolent, humble, and sincere aura.
I'm not religious either, but I can definitely get behind someone who actually cares about the american people and is willing to do the work of their constituents. If he was voted in by Kentucky of all places (which is by far no democratic bastion), he's definitely got what we need to start working across the table again and remove the partisan clownery from the important issues that need resolving.
Gretchen Whitmer might be the best choice, two strong women, that would be historic.
@@sherinbv Choosing the VP candidate at this point in time needs to be strategic with so much at stake. I really hate to say this, but to get back some of the older white voters that were locked in for Biden, and to have representation for male voters, she'll probably need a white male on the ticket to finish unifying the rest of the democratic voting pool and pick up some independents and white anti-trump voters along the way. Disclaimer: I don't "Hate to say this" because I don't like the idea of a white male VP, "I hate to say it" because I don't like the idea that it matters. Trumps campaign is already trying to rear up that the Harris Campaign is too "woke" because they have nothing else to attack her on. Republicans will further push that message if we double down on an all female ticket and it will likely hurt her in the short sprint to the election in 100 days. Having a Southern white male on the ticket is antithetical to that agenda.
As a Kentuckian and two-time voter for Governor Beshear, I am so proud of the way he not only represented Kentucky in this interview, but the way that he has led the commonwealth as our governor. His empathy and pragmatism show what true leadership looks like. Vice President Harris and Governor Beshear are our best chance to preserve our democracy and return our country to a sense of normalcy.

While I believe that those who come into the country should do so through the proper channels, there are ways to ensure the immigration process is kept within the confines of the law while still treating migrant people with humanity and respect. Any adequate student of history also knows that nearly every person in this country is here because a member of their family was once an immigrant. Try to keep that in mind.

I’m merely expressing that it’s possible to uphold the law, as well as treat other people - regardless of their ethnicity or origin - like human beings. While there are challenges in following through with legislation and actions that reflect my viewpoint, doing the right thing is not often easy.
As a Kentuckian, I am honored to call him my Governor. We had historic tornadoes that were on the ground for over 200 miles. He took care of all Kentuckians. He opened up State Parks for housing. Unlike Trump who finally went to Puerto Rico and threw paper towels at people. Trump didnt even know Puerto Rico was a US territory.
Gov Beshear works for his state. Very Honorable man.

Best Kentucky Governor of my lifetime. We are so very proud of him here. Lots of Republicans voted for him too, twice. Besides antivaxx kooks during the pandemic, I haven't met a fellow Kentucky yet who doesn't speak of Andy in glowing terms. This is not an easy state to run, and he has done it with intelligence and rock solid human decency.

Our Andy is the best governor in the country! I am not suprised he is on the radar to be Harris' running mate (if she is nominated).
When he was coming under fire during the pandemic from the far right, he literally said he didn't care if he lost his job, he was going to do what was right for Kentuckians. He was on TV every afternoon giving us updates and letting us know how things were progressing. He is no nonsense and tough but also a kind family man. He is bringing in so much manufacturing and building is going crazy in KY. He would destroy phony JD Vance in a debate. He's the real deal.
Even the people of Tennessee love Andy Beshear. His handling of tornado disasters that straddled the border was true leadership.
I think pretty much anyone who listens to him who isn't crazy would love him. I hope Kamala picks him!

Andy Beshear is a great choice for VP. He’s smart. Diplomatic. Fair. Experienced. He can work across the aisle for the betterment of all. I live in an area of Kentucky where he’s widely received within my “red” state. He’s brought jobs and industry to our state. This second term governor has successfully led us through weather related disasters and a pandemic. He cares about all of us.

Beshear, during the covid days, would give a daily message concerning those that died each day! A true statesman and kind hearted soul that gives his best everyday! He has a truly people first political heart.
And he didn't just do this for a couple months either. I remember them going on for the longest time. And because of that, we had very up to date information about closures and process changes.
That was such a reliable, calm presence in crazy times. Andy, Virginia, and Kenneth every day.

Even my 'only vote for republican' mother said she liked Beshear. Now, did she vote for him? I do not know, but she said he did a good job. He's a bit too moderate for my taste, but he is a very good man and moral person. I will NEVER forget him reading off the names of the deaths during the pandemic and being on TV every single day giving us an update and a sign of hope. That man CARES about human lives. He helped eastern Kentucky a TON when tornados went through and that area did not vote for him at all. As Andy pointed out, even people within the parties disagree on some issues. Andy was a calming force when COVID started and he had to deal with it shortly after becoming Governor.

I adore you, Andy Beshear. I’m so proud to have you representing the state of Kentucky so beautifully and compassionately.
As a Kentuckian I would hate to lose Andy, but man, he’s a great guy to his core and would make a wonderful running mate. He is the type of person I would want in my corner. I’ve got to meet him and talk with him for a while at a campaign event and this man is just good to his core. The world will love him. Not to mention he’s quick on his feet. Also, much more likable than JD Vance.

A bit south of Lexington here and I was so proud of how so many counties in Eastern Ky voted for Beshear! You appreciated the help on the floods! So all of you are smarter and more thankful than others in our state. It was sad to see just a few of the WK states .. go blue. It was about half but in all their horrible tornadoes where so many including Besher led helped them, upset me. But we help each other anyway! Again I'm so proud of all of the EKy counties and their votes!!

I was born and raised in Kentucky. I have lived in Dallas for more than 31 years. I am so proud to see that Kentucky has chosen a man who represents what it means to be a Kentuckian. I was a black kid from the projects who was bussed to the suburbs to attend school. I never felt racism growing up in Kentucky. My best friend was a white kid who is like my brother today. I hope Texas can make the change Kentucky has made. There is so much work to do in both states. Racism is horrible and much of our division in this country is about race. Until we throw race out the window and accept people for who they are we can’t move forward. In Kentucky I lived with white people who were poorer than the blacks I grew up with in the projects. Those same people support Trump and I’ll never understand that. Whenever I go home I see more poor and homeless whites on the streets. In Dallas I can’t say that. We have to lift up all the people in our society and make them whole.

I'm not surprised you still see evidence of racism there, although I think there has been some progress. Have you considered running for a political office? I think a lot of people would respond favorably to a message like yours.

I don’t think it’s that difficult to unify Americans and get us to stop being afraid of the other because of race, religion and sexuality. When you can take someone who is hard right and hard left and meet them in the middle to show at the end of the day we’re pretty much the same other than race. Both sides want the same thing as Americans, freedom and access to the American dream. We have been divided by corporations since the first CW. Go watch the movie the Free State of Jones and it shows how corporations use race to divide us. It’s stupid and my brother and his family are Trumpers and I still love them. They’re always family to me no matter what.

Man, Andy Beshear is good, really good. It's so refreshing to hear someone who is calm, intelligent, articulate, and patriotic in stark contrast to the angry, non-sensical crap you always seem to get from the GOP.
One thing that went out the window in politics in 2016 was the notion of being able to 'respectfully disagree'.

Our Governor Andy Beshear won election to his current office twice, in a red state, with higher turnout (in 2023) among Republicans than Democrats. He has run our Commonwealth with common sense and decency. His management style reminds me, more than anything, of a particularly competent and dedicated principal assigned to a troubled high school, with a solid record both in the daily business of the state of Kentucky and disasters (Coronavirus, tornado outbreaks, floods). My only reservation as a Kentuckian is provincial and selfish: it'is that if he becomes VP, we would miss the final two years of his Governorship here. God I hope he is offered the position. He would be so good. Kentucky LOVES Andy Beshear.

Mr Beshear is changing my perception of Kentucky... slowly. When I think of the bluegrass state I think of the people sitting around sipping bourbon and talking about the good old days when dinosaurs and people roamed the earth at the same time.
