Carrey had undoubtedly read endless amounts of comics, watched the TV series and studied the games to understand what kind of man Eggman was, what kind of personality existed in the mad scientist in order to form how to make him a reality in the live-action movies. With his personal twist, humor and ingenuity, Carrey has created a new Eggman out of a normal human being with certain... flaws, you could say - and he crowned this with a masterpiece because his alter ego, Gerald Robotnik, was necessary to show Robotnik at his deepest. It took three movies, but the transformation from the mercenary scientist Robotnik to the mad supervillain Eggman has been completed. The work was finished. So Carrey can go his way, because Eggman has been fully developed and I don't think he is willing to stay in a fixed personality, which other potential actors (they must then have a strong resemblance in appearance) can take over. I think a new Eggman will come, who could possibly not only take over the role of the original, but also bring back memories of him - including the boundless hatred for Sonic. What remains is "the big boss" the imperialist ruler that Eggman had been so many times in the comics, the TV series, the games - and that could only happen if the Sonicverse expands from just Earth and humans. It's time for non-humans like mobians, black arms, babylons and others to step forward. Eggman will then partly fade into the background.
I don't think people realized just how close we came to disaster. The Sonic movie came out February 14, 2020 - just a month before Covid lockdowns started. If the redesign had taken just a little longer, the Sonic movie would've either been delayed by a year, or released to empty theaters, and the big studios would've taken away the lesson of "never listen to the fans, just shove it out even if everyone hates it".
This is insanely well done. I thought you're one of the channels with at least 2 million subscribers, but I got confused because this only had 600 views. Keep it up bro
to be fair unlike with sonic's model being the only thing that needed to be changed, the Minecraft movie is mainly 75% CGI and would take a lot of money and time to change. plus even if they do change the models that doesn't change the script so its doom to fail
I think after the Angry Birds Movie and the Detective Pikachu Movie paramount started to realize that a video game movie could actually work . And now with the success of the sonic movies other studios are starting to make video game movies like fnaf, minecraft and Mario
The description was the first thing I saw... I'll ignore it and let it slide though. Sonic is generational, but mostly the Sonic fanbase finally did such an amazing thing instead of making us look bad. Proud to be a lifelong Sonic fan
I think it started way back in 08 with Speed Racer. It wasn’t well received back when it was released, but now it’s one of the best Live Action Anime Adaptations, and One Piece is following behind
Bendy, hello neighbor, and poppy playtime are all getting movies now too. Not to mention the new FNAF sequel next year. Video game movies may have a chance now possibly
I would also honestly point to movies like Ratchet & Clank and Detective Pikachu, movies that - while, yes, they did toy around with the established lore and story beats from the source material - had enough sense to respect the source material for fans of their respective series. Movies like that walked so that Sonic - eventually - could sprint at supersonic speeds.
The best part for me was that at the time j saw the ugly sonic i said ti a friend of mine "They will change it,not because they want, but because i know Sonic fans and they will go bonkers agains this" and i was goddawn right
How did Paramount make the sonic community comfortable with the redesign?.... They lowered the bar really really really really really really really low.
So we had the Angry Birds Movie (it was weird but still good) Sonic The Hedgehog, The Super Mario Bros Movie. So now after these Successors we are getting The Minecraft Movie Next Year which I’m looking forward too.
I often see people mentioned Fallout, Mario and Arcane as the good series/movies based on video game adaptation. But rarely i see people mention Last of us for some reason why?
With Sonic breaking the video game movie curse, the live action adaptations of anime could be done. 2008’s Speed Racer is regarded as the best one out of the bunch, even though it was critically panned when it came out, but with people now seeing it what it is, especially with the Actors like Emile Hirsch telling praises of it, I think it is time to see if someone can dip their toes to try and break that curse as well
Do we really need to have this discussion? We had a crappy Borderlands movie, and we now we’re getting a Minecraft movie in a few months, it’s almost like the video game movie curse wasn’t broken, it multiplied.
Plot Twist: It wasn't that fan broke the curse. It just that the animator made a bad design on purpose so everyone can talk about how bad it is even more so that the movie would sell even more after they fix the design. Harder to trust someone then it is to break someone trust, that in a negative sense as in that's what they did with the movie. 9,000 IQ move right there. JK, lol XD There are talks about that but that probably not what happened, I just said that as a joke is all. Lol XD
Okay, huge sins, WHY ARE WE INCLUDING POKEMON THE FIRST MOVIE IN THAT COLLAGE? That movie was actually good. It was also not live action. It's, like, the odd one out there.
ya'll can say these movies are great all you want but you can't deny that live action was an awful and limiting choice for a series as fluid and stylish as sonic the hedgehog (see sonic cd and the sonic ova intro for more details)
I mean don't get me wrong I loved Jim Carrey but he had no resemblance to robotnick in the first movie along with his drones and the story is just a roadtrip to get to san francisco idk what sonic game thats from

The best part about the character design changes is Robotnik's slow and gradual transformation into Eggman throughout the entire trilogy.
Carrey had undoubtedly read endless amounts of comics, watched the TV series and studied the games to understand what kind of man Eggman was, what kind of personality existed in the mad scientist in order to form how to make him a reality in the live-action movies. This is insanely well done. I thought you're one of the channels with at least 2 million subscribers, but I got confused because this only had 600 views. Keep it up bro
It’s usually the channels with 50- 10,000 subscribers that make the good videos.
Bro, he uses an ai voice and random parts of the trailers, for all we know he could’ve just made the script from chat GPT
Warner bros didnt listen with minecraft movie
Given Warner Bros’s recent track record of being a shitty corporation, yeah I agree

Angry birds and detective pikachu movie was quite good aswell
they just didn't suceed like Sonic did
Some of the designs in detective pikachu were hella cursed though.
So did super Mario

If Plants vs Zombies ever gets a movie somehow, i really hope it's animated. This could turn out to be a masterpiece!

Heh, Minecraft. It'll take the route of the Borderlands movie
The Sonic Fandom may have a toxic side but they also have a good side
An extremely limited good side that seems to only appear in movie form. Cause even Frontiers got shit for "taking too long to release content"
They're toxic because they want the best Sonic they can get.
It's just a shame they can't agree on what that is.
Keanu Reeves and Shadow. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.
I think this decade is gonna be for video game movies and I’m all for it
Really appreciate this video. While I’m more of a Super Mario fan, I still like the Sonic franchise and each film keeps getting better and better
It also broke the third movie curse. 😉
True
Detective Pikachu was also done well.
I know right 👍
