Hot Damn, this is some heavy hometown R&B heart attack jazz fusion!...& Soul Finger came about back in 1967' in Memphis at Stax records, before Miles Davis had caught wind of Jimi Hendrix, when Miles reshifted, and manifested into his highest top gear, sending out his brand of funky heart attack r&b jazz rock fusion, this sped up fast live version of Soul Finger, with the big horn section, is up high on the level!...8)
The Greatest Funk ever written but my first time ever seeing it done live the way i thought it was recorded. Bravo to this gem of a treasure . Brothers had it 2gether
Damn . just mind blowing music from master musicians and goes to show you a Master Artist like Wilson Pickett needed a kick ass band like this .... All SOUL but any sec. they could cut up a rock riff as good as ANY BAND in the world .
@greenmean1 Pickett had a number of backing bands over the years. The band with the great Skip Pitts on guitar was, I believe, based out of Washington, D.C. He also had a band that was based in NYC - the great Crusher Green was that band's drummer for many years. Pickett wasn't the easiest boss to work for, and there was a period of time when he'd fire one band and switch to the other one every once in a while. He always sounded great, no matter who was playing behind him, and he usually had top notch bands. Crazy as he was, I miss working with him.

Man!
You have some deep cuts in all of this...highly impressive!
The energy in this performance could fuel 4 whole powerplants. And the fuzz is just the icing on the cake!
So cool this song was a beast!
This was in the 80’s movie “Spies Like Us” when they were in the camp near the rocket!!
