No young person should ever have to die like this because of some stupid A-hole who decides to drive so fast and drunk. My heart goes out to the parents who are suffring right now.

That's because the killers behind the wheel are usually protected by the front of their vehicles and air bags at impact. The victims can get hit from any angle - front, side, or rear as in this case!

Drunk drivers are so relaxed they don't get injured. Too many just seem to get a slap on the wrist, license suspended...but they can still drive and if drunk, do. 😡

Any car is a death trap when it gets hit that hard from behind. It has nothing to do with the Fit and everything to do with the cockwaffle rear ending them at freeway speeds while drunk as shit.

I was heading to work & got hit at a intersection where I had the green light @ about 3:05-3:10am, at State/Brinton. The other vehicle ran the RED light, hit my CRV, spun it around, threw me sideways & all my ribs on my R side were broken (I could barely breathe & honestly thought I was dying! The other driver (per someone who spoke to the officers), tried starting their vehicle to drive off, but wouldn’t start, then flew out the drivers door, and ran off into the darkness on foot! They left me there, with multiple broken ribs, broken toe, multiple deep dark bruises all over my right side from my mid calf, to under my left arm, several cuts, one severe on my arm, smoke coming from all sides of my vehicle, thinking my CRV was going to go up in flames, drivers door so damaged I couldn’t get out! WHO RUNS OFF & LEAVES SOMEONE LIKE THAT WITHOUT EVEN A GLANCE BACK? Some passerby was kind enough to stop, run to me, screaming I had to get out, as he also thought my CRV was going to go up in flames! I told him I could barely breathe and could not get my door open to get out, so he grabbed my door, bent it open, grabbed me & put my arm around his shoulder, and helped me to safety! He waited with me as others had gathered behind me, until the police & later, the ambulance arrived! The police sat me down on a curb, and paramedics began trying to find out why I could barely breathe. Ambulance arrived so the police went behind where I was sitting & spoke to the people who had gathered & told the police they saw the other driver attempt to drive off, then went running & pointed where the person went. I couldn’t see the people the police talked to, I could only hear them. They said the person ran off so fast they didn’t get a good look, as they were surprised “HE” went running, away! I’m not sure when the man left the scene that got me to safety, and didn’t even get a chance to thank him! They loaded me in the ambulance, again, struggling to breathe, and unsure if I would survive! I knew I was not far from Hemet Valley hospital, and in shock/panicked, asked why it was taking so long to get there, when they told me they had to take me to Riverside University Hospital in Moreno Valley, as Hemet Valley had no trauma center & that the closest trauma center was in Moreno Valley! Not knowing why I could barely breathe, I began praying I would not die before we got there. The trauma team was waiting for me to arrive, about 6-8 people, and began working on me immediately! They removed my gold chain, cross, after me begging them not to, actually crying as somehow I knew it would disappear, as it was 12/5/19, too close to Christmas, and it was given to me as a gift from a friend who later died, so meant the world to me! I only removed it to bathe/shower, clean it but other than that, had NEVER removed it! They would not let me move, and whomever was by my head, which I never saw, forcefully removed it! Then they MUST have given me some heavy pain meds, in an IV, because I remember NOTHING after that! Didn’t even see where they put my cross/chain! Woke up at the KAISER hospital in Moreno Valley, in a private room, in horrific pain! First thing I asked the nurse was where my cross/chain was! They looked in the bag that my clothes were in, all cut up, AND NO CROSS/CHAIN! They said everything that was removed at the trauma center was in that bag! They had taken me by ambulance from the trauma center, after they xrayed me, examined me, gave me MRI, stabilized me, and I was now at Kaiser also in Moreno Valley, as that is who my insurance was with. I was in so much pain, I was screaming w/every breathe, and asked them about my injuries! That’s when they informed me, I had broken all my ribs, on my R side, etc! They said I couldn’t hardly breathe because of all the rib damage, but fortunately none had went into my lung! Omg, every breathe I took made me scream out loud in pain! They gave me Tylenol 500 for the pain & left me screaming in pain! I couldn’t lie down, could barely sit up, and every breathe was horrific pain! The nurse came in later & told me to quiet down, as if I was screaming out loud on purpose, and I informed her unless they gave me something stronger for pain, I couldn’t help screaming! The nurse said they no longer tape broken ribs due to pneumonia setting in, and more or less, too bad, and closed my door & left me to scream! After about the 4th day at KAISER, I was able to stifle my screams and managed to lie down, enough to try & rest, and after 3-4 more days & a hospital bill of $65,000+, I was released & my niece, her hubby came & drove me back to Hemet! WHAT A NIGHTMARE, and I was just going to work, when my life changed! But, I was alive! My CRV was totaled so we went to the storage where it had been towed, and I didn’t even recognize it, it was so badly damaged! I was still in morbid pain, with only my Tylenol 500, so my nieces hubby took pics of my 4 mo old CRV, and got all my belongings out, gave the storage place my keys as my insurance wanted my vehicle moved out ASAP, as the storage bills were mounting up! I had to pay my $500 deductible & my son was able to get emergency leave from the Army, and was due to arrive in 2 days, to help me! When he arrived, I was crying as I told him, between small screams, that someone at the trauma center had STOLEN my cross/chain! He called the trauma center & 2 days later they said I could file a claim, but it was no where to be found! OMG! I was devastated! Then they said NO ONE SAUD THEY EVEN SAW IT WHEN I ARRIVED & DENIED TAKING IT OFF MY NECK, SAID IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE AMBULANCE DRIVERS, which I KNEW it wasn’t as I was fully conscious up until someone at the trauma center FORCEFULLY REMOVED IT! They assumed no liability, said all valuables are the patients responsibility, period! WORD OF WARNING, PRAY YOU HAVE NO JEWELRY ON YOU IF YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT! Long story, but the police said they went to the other drivers residence, that same morning, no one answered! Someone later called to report their vehicle was stolen, then said the FEMALE who lived there claimed she WAS the driver who ran, BUT SHE CLAIMED HER LIGHT WAS GREEN & I HAD RUN THE LIGHT, hit her! Admitted with her atty on the phone, she had left me without even looking back! She had insurance, DL, car was registered to a MALE, but couldn’t even tell them any description of my car, a black CRV! Not color or even that it was a CRV! Couldn’t explain why she ran, nothing! I don’t believe she was the DRIVER, as the people speaking with the police said HE ran off on foot! So after waiting 7 months for the police report, it still said d SHE was the driver, and not one name/phone number of ANY witnesses, not to the collision, but the ones who saw HIM run off, nor the wonderful man who helped me! If you read this and know anyone who was there, or the kind man who helped me, please leave a msg as I need to know how they can be reached! It was 6 long extremely painful months of healing but I only have some pretty nasty scars on my arm from the cuts, and have fully recovered! No cross/chain but I’m alive so I just have to accept my gold cross/chain is gone forever! I pray whoever took it can sleep at night! Who steals from an accident victim??? Thanks!!

There really is no point in having crappy subcompact cars on the market, they are deathtraps in the most minor of accidents and they get the same gas mileage as midsized cars that are superior in every way, thanks to a careless driver and a very poorly made car these people died, had they been in a midsized car the chances of them surviving this would have been very high.

Firstly, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the two girls who lost their lives. We often shop at Lowes and may have talked to them at some time. This breaks our hearts.
We moved to Hemet 2 years ago. There were only 2 negative things we found on the internet about Hemet. One was the high crime rate in certain parts of Hemet and, according to another person that had moved here, was that it had the worst drivers he had ever experienced.
I have to defend Hemet drivers. Firstly, this guy was from Downey, not Hemet. I've found many drivers driving above the speed limit while my biggest complaint is tailgaters. I've basically acclimated to tailgaters and just move over to let them by whenever I can. One guy was tailgating me on the way back from Temecula (the back way). I was upset, but moved off the road. I then saw him stick his hand out the window and wave a "thank you" for me to see.
We've found the people here to be friendly and courteous. Bottom line, we love living and retiring here!!!

The scientific reason? Because a sober person tenses up right before an accident. The drunk person is usually relaxed or unconscious before the accident so their bodies absorb the impact much better than the person who is tense and sober.

By the way, my heart breaks for those who lost their loved ones in their accident! My soldier son drives a Honda Fit, and he’s the one who sent this to me, as neither of us EVER dreamed the Honda Fit hatchback would kill the two front victims! Like many of you, it’s AMAZING the passenger in the REAR survived! You would think she would’ve been killed and the front victims would’ve survived, or all killed! God has a special plan for the survivors life! SHE IS A MIRACLE! I’ve commuted 180 (round trip) miles a day for work, been in a lot of accidents, for 28 yrs., and ONLY ONE was my fault! Thank God the person who killed the two victims DID NOT ESCAPE, and will be brought to justice! Bless those who caught him & kept him there to face justice! While that is little consolation to the ones who lost their loved ones, and put that back seat passenger in for a lengthy recovery, at least he won’t be out there killing others, hopefully! He should never be let out of prison, for driving that fast, and obviously impaired! The loved ones affected by his careless disregard will never be the same! Their lives are forever changed and that breaks my heart! Please people, if you drink, call a friend, take an Uber, or cab, don’t live the rest of your life knowing you took the lives of two innocent people & severely injured another, when it all could’ve been avoided! LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS AND IT’S AFFECTED MANY THAT WEREN’T IN THE HONDA FIT! May those deaths, and the other injured, haunt you till the day you die! IT’S JUST NOT WORTH IT! 😭

    • @TestECull

@@bpp325 Has nothing to do with where the vehicles were made. The same thing would have happened if a 4-door Lexus plowed into the back of a VW Golf. The Golf would have folded up like tin foil and the Lexus would have been repairable.
That's just how rear end crashes tend to work. The car that gets hit usually comes off worse than the car that hit it irrespective of era or country of manufacture. All the crash structure a car may or may not have is going to be oriented first towards frontal impacts, then side impacts, then rollovers. Rear impacts are an afterthought even in today's safety obsessed car market.
'Bout the only time this isn't the case is when a low slung commuter car bonks into the back of a pickup with a Class IV receiver hitch fitted; the hitch bolts right to the frame rails and basically just skewers the front of the car hitting it. But even in this scenario the truck usually gets fucked up pretty good. Bent frames are common here, especially with modern trucks designed to crumple in a wreck and older ones that have a lot of rust in their frames.
