Only criticism one can make of Sandhagen is that his fight IQ isn't quite where it should be for someone of his talents. He's a cerebral fighter, but he makes avoidable mistakes at moments where its least beneficial to him. It could be due to a lack of experience, it should improve if he keeps improving. I don't like his corner/coaches either, as from my perspective he's outgrown his need for them, Cory should move to another gym to get better coaches.
@@madgavin7568 He likes to throw flashy shit too much. I know some people say you should never flow flashy shit at all against someone like Yan but if you go two rounds with discipline and then throw a wheel kick in the third or something you might catch him off guard, for example. But in that Yan fight in particular he threw so much flashy stuff that Yan was able to punish him for. Very sad.
@@Scrungusss It was more in the TJ fight where the flashy shit cost him. It was in those moments that allowed TJ to make the fight closer than it probably should have been, as when Cory was sticking to the fundamentals he was handily out-striking TJ.
That KO by garbrandt was a thing of beauty..plus we need that chito vera v o'malley fight in 2023

He is becoming like Cowboy Cerrone. In all the new highlights, but only on the receiving end sadly. Frankie used to fight at 155, I know he is short, but these new school bantamweights are SO fucking fast, and just too good. I think Frankie needs to hang it up, he is 40 now. He is a legend, he has nothing left to prove imo.

Overrated as absolute fuck. He was calm in the Font fight, pieced up to oblivion. Calm in the Kai fight, demolished. Calm in the Dom fight, lost two rounds in a 48-46 decision that people remember dominantly because of a big 4th round and dancing.

It’s crazy that some fights you think didn’t matter at the time end up becoming history of the evolution of a fighter who becomes legend or champion. That being said, the opposite is true of Cody’s knockout of Assuncao.

Same with Moraes. Some people questioned it because it looked like a lucky shot where he was going for the kick but got the knee, but it was so spectacular at the time, most people didn't care. Then he got KOed almost every fight afterwards until he retired.

Composed Cody Grandbrant is one of the biggest “what ifs” ever
He was composed against Font and Kai Kara-france. Just wasn’t good enough.
The defense was and still is his main issue

Cody is probably the fastest bantamweight but he gets caught too often and can’t recover
his guard is just not there. Incredible head movement. But when he loads up w no defense whatsoever he goes from a great fighter to a brainless brawler

@@lilb4977 He looked good against Cruz because TAM trained and coached him purely to fight Cruz. Once he started facing other guys he wasn't trained to fight from the beginning, he crumbled and showcased serious holes in his game.

@@Channel4Snakes As good as Thomas Almeida was, he most likely was unfamiliar with Cody's style and the KO happened early in the fight (1st round). Unfortunately for Cody, the win would not age well as Almeida would go 1-4 in his next 5 fights.
Almeidas ko was lovely but I love Brad and I'll always love how he went to get straight up.

Cody’s decline makes me so sad man. Amazingly, I think TJ was spitting facts about Cody’s lack of fight IQ. The Cody that beat Cruz was the best bantamweight ever. That performance is GOATED. He’s such a damn good wrestler, but he’s fell in love with them hands, and yeah dude has power, but look at the Munhoz fight, the Font fight and even the KKF one at ‘25. He could take all three of those down, but didn’t, put himself in unnecessary danger
