- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- In this video, I will show you how to fix a free spinning discharge chute on your Ariens 1130DLE snowblower. Fixing the free spinning chute is quite easy in my case, all I had to do is unbend the keeper in the video. You can also replace the keeper if your keeper is damaged or unbend-able. I will have a link for the exact part down below. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

I have the same model with the same problem. thanks, I owe you a beer. Great presentation.
EXCELLENT video! Your attention to making sure you explain and actually SHOW the various parts, and what you do; tighten, loosen, etc. is excactly what we needed to fix our chute problem! So appreciative of the time and effort you took to make this video!
Thank you for your kind support!
Thanks to this video, my mom and I were able to fix ours (same issue as another commenter, ran into the mailbox with the chute, oops.) We don't have a vise, but between her knife sharpening steel (tapered end wedged between the keeper's bent "teeth"), a big screwdriver to pry the other way, and a cutting board, she was able to bend the keeper back into shape. We also learned NOT to overtighten the nut or it all binds up too much -- will add lube later to help mitigate that too. Thank you again for the detailed instructions, especially getting that spring back into place!
I appreciate that you fix what's wrong first rather than just replace parts.
Amazing video. I found an Ariens Snowblower just like this one. I'm finishing repairs to it and I was always baffled at how this chute lock worked. I have none of these parts (yet). Thank you for putting out this video.
I just bought a new Ariens Pro and brushed the chute against my mailbox which caused it to bend the clip a little. Thanks to your video, I fixed it in minutes and don't have to deal with bringing it in for repair.
THANKS for posting!
I have an Arien 11528de model. I have the exactly the same problems of your video.
I had hard time to find this particular video that address this problem. Thank you very much.
Getting my blower ready for the winter. I have his issue for a while. Great video on fixing the problem. Great job !!
THANKS Much!! As many others have already indicated, Excellent video. I had the same problem on the exact model you have/worked on. With your help, I was able to identify the correct way to install the spring and connect the cable in the control area. You can laugh, but I spent a good two hours - in 9 degree temperatures in garage - trying to get the spring installed and failed. Then got the brilliant idea of looking for help online and found your video. One additional comment. I initially installed the cable at the Locking Arm as Ariens instructed, 1/4 inch beyond inner nut. Nope!! Locking Arm would not engage. Thought at first the spring was bad. Needed to play around quite a bit with the two nuts before found the right alignment distance. FYI, the distance that worked finally for me was about an inch past first nut. Also, you can't have the bolt/nut holding the Locking Arm assembly too tight. Needs some slop or the assembly will not move freely as needed. As other also noted this appears a very poor system.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I was trying to get that part put back together and could not figure out how that spring connected to make tension. I saw a groove in that front gear and figured it had to sit there but that did not create enough tension. There was no obvious hole or anything that the end of the spring should go into as I would have expected.
I had the ball come off the end of my cable and the local dealer did not have the part so I put a very small collar with a set screw on the end and that worked. Just couldn't get it back together until I finally found this video, thanks again!
Thanks that info started to put me on the right troubleshooting. to fix my 924 shoot issues. Thanks
This is exactly the issue that I had with my machine. Your video was perfect. Showed me exactly what to do and fixed my problem. Thanks for a great video!
I had the same exact problem. Just fixed it today. Great video. Thanks for sharing!!
Excellent video, shows orientation of that darn spring. Up and running again. Thanks
This has been driving me nuts. Thanks much!
Great video. The shop that did the service for my friend who is blind apparently didn't know what they where doing as the cable coating was broken and the spring was not installed properly. They charge him $150 for service and still didn't get it right. The oil level was low also and tire pressure was down. It won't be going back there anytime to soon. Thanks again
Crook mechanics should never get paid! I'm sorry that happened to your friend. Thanks for watching!
Thanx for the tips 👍 Stef from Québec,Canada !
Wish I had seen this sooner. Got the job done but that spring kicked my a$$.
Great video, I had the exact same problem and now it's all set! Thanks
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you! I’ve been searching for awhile on this fix.
Excellent Video. Thank you.
👍Great video. Fixed it in 5 minutes. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I was able to repair it while there were 10 inches of snow waiting to be cleared.
I'm glad this video helped you. Thank you for watching!
Thankyou for this well done video,, I was able to fix in time for another blast of snow here in central Ontario
Glad I could help
Excellent! It's a poor design for sure, but with your help, I was able to fix it myself. Cheers!
Its a horrible design Notice new ones sure do have a different system
Another good one 👍🏾
Thank you!
I had the same chute problem, but mine was the axial travel of the rod. My gears didn't mesh, so I shimmed behind the gear on the shaft. It took almost 3/16" of shims/washers to take up the slack. Works great now. 9:18
Great video, thanks a bunch
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks! Had exact same problem and resolved it by following your video. Would have been much harder without it. Looks like there is a replacement part that uses a harder metal. Will probably replace it after this season (again with the help of your video).
is the replacement part with harder metal oem or after market, thanks
Hey Phil. Just a heads up that little rubber stopper is part of the problem it needs to be threaded back on with just a touch of sealant
Thanks!
Thanks so much you saved sooooo much time and wasted effort
Excellent video... bought an machine with same cute directional control not working. The cable needed replacing, your video help me get one end of the cable set and working.
The part I'm having trouble with is the assembly at the joystick end. I maybe missing a tension spring... the parts diagram not clear where it goes and if its actually part of the joystick assembly
Is there a tension spring involved with the joystick assembly ?
Should that spring be pushed up into the machined hole in the back wall? Or up against the wall like you put it?
5:45 to 5:50 resolved an hour of frustration for me.
My locking arm actually fits into the grooves. The problem is that the arm doesn't rotates freely on the bushing. When I have it off with the spring it place the spring seems to touch the bushing and keep it from rotating. Do you think the spring could be bent? Thank you.
10X THANKS
Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the informative video…. My question is that darn spring. I cannot get the locking arm to snap back to Hold the chute in place. I see you push the spring arm up, which I did, but how far? Into that back wall hole, or higher up against the flat wall? Any help is appreciated.
against the back wall
Do you have link for new part?
Ty so much. How do I adjust the other end of the cable
On my model, only one side adjusts
What is the cable part ### mine freezes up?
Hello
You suppose to not lift up the chute control but just push it sideways, you Have to adjust your chute once more
Hmm I have an Ariens just like that one and same problem. I'll have to take another look at it. For some reason I think I remember seeing there was some sort of kit you could buy to fix the issue. Different gear I think or something. Anyways I don't like it. Give me the old school crank every day of the week.
@Steve Joseph i haven't messed around with it yet. Best to ask an ariens dealer. Thats what I plan to do.
Agreed! Just stick with what works! This one issue is such a constant PITA on my blower. Everything else is great! This is definitely a weak point for “ease of use”. It’s a snow blower. Keep it simple!
@Steve Joseph Hi, I’m having the same problem as well. I replaced all the gears and the spring, and it’s still not enough to lock the gear in place. Tired of throwing money at this ridiculous mechanism.
@@reggieeldrealtor6827 isit’s terrible. All the adjustments on the cable and it’s impossible to find the “sweet spot”
There is a angles metal strain relief on the cable where the lever is. This is a newer version of the cable. Not the same shown here. If find the angle of the strain relief is too much. Outer casing of the cable will break easily if you are not careful when adjusting. Seams like a good upgrade but it’s not so good.
anyone ever try to change from this backwards terrible design to the simplified crank chute?
I find that the plastic outer casing of the cable breaks easily. You have to make sure that any bends are of a large radius or the outer casing will break. I’m surprised the cables are made that way. Be very careful when you route the cable. Notice where he has the support clip close to the gear housing.
What is that black thing sticking up on the top of your motor mine doesn't have that
It's his portable working led light
Why did you skip the most technical part of the reassembly which is the correct direction of the tension spring and what a job it is to get that tension spring in there. I had to watch this video several times just to figure out which of the two directions that tension spring even goes in. And then I was struggling with it to keep the tension on it just to get that spacer washer or whatever it's called on and through the other side.
@James1987F - I was about ready to blow my head off with the same spring issue. THANK GOD for this video. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the spring with no success.
New machines now have small electric motors instead of a cable or crank lever.
How in the world did it bend in the first place ?
I honestly have no idea. Wear and tear over time is my guess.
You need a new cable too.
True
At first I thought the problem was the hair.
Overly complicated mechanism for a chute control.
Yeah I agree I hate this design
