loona lore is so complex, i’ve been a fan for 5 years and still don’t have a full understanding😭. but im glad you enjoyed it, loona’s discography is very diverse and you won’t regret checking them out again!
LOONA, the lyrics seems like a direct relationship to how Loona and what BBC did to them. sheesh weeeeeee baaaaack. ! Artemis/Diana the huntress and moon goddess ...possibly a metaphor for the feminine power that they can/will now be able to harness? The illustrations were quite unsettling, especially the castle scenes, and reminded me strongly of folklore imagery. Haunting vocals and visuals absolutely on POINT. Beautiful , dark and creepy is the ultimate combo. . I'm very intrigued and really looking forward to seeing where they go with this concept. Great video.

Just in case anyone doesn’t know but this is not the title track but a B-Side and it’s the first premiere track, there is to be 4 premiere tracks in total(unsure if premiere tracks 2 to 4 will have an MV because unlike those ones “Birth” was voted by OURII to be the one to have a MV) with the title track “Virtual Angel” & the full length album “Dall” getting released on May 31st.
Side note: For anyone curious the album will have 11 tracks!
“Birth” is the 11th track on the album so I guess you could consider it to be the outro of the album!

Im not too sure on the lore i dont know much about loona, ive only heard a couple songs. But my take is that they were born to/descended upon Artemis(the goddess of the hunt). She raised them and taught them things. But they were "born with a fake smile", they lied, etc... Eventually they ended up hunting her the same way she hunted the dear. Makes sense because they had the same face, like predator becomes prey style.
Now i dont know what happened after, maybe they ate her??(Idk). Causing her to lose physical form and now appear only as a body of light. Practically hauting them, even though they are trying to run/get away/forget her.

The loonaverse (what loona lore is called) is genuinely my favourite lore to come out of a K-pop group with this one the horned woman is I think supposed to represent the goddess Selene. Loona mvs are known for having great cinematography(interesting shots,referencing things, props/backgrounds etc) though I don’t think any other Loona mvs feature actual art ( besides the mv for the Japanese song StarSeed which was never released on any of their official channels but can be found on UA-cam) the main director of most of their mvs including this one is DigiPedi and the person who made the art for Birth is called mareykrap she also sells prints on DROOL

That being I think its artemis, a greek god, I think that because the name of the group is artms, wich is artemis wuthout the vocals

I'm pretty sure the artist for the artworks are made by one of the members heejin! I haven't gotten into it yet but a lot of people are saying it's made by Heejin

Lore Orbit here. Here's a longer comment as a shorter guide to loona and how loona ended up where they are now. And ofcourse also some explanation of the lore. Before I start with this here the most important information: we are boycotting Loonas music and eveythinh posted on their old social media channels. I'm going to explain why and how later. This comment is gonna be longer, so you might want to grab a hot drink and sit down before you begin to read all of this. Here's how I'm gonna structure this comment:
1. Loona (and artms) as a group
2. Loonaverse
1. Loona & artms as a group
Loona is a 12 member girlgroup who debuted in 2018 with hi high. Before debut every member debuted solo with a own song and a own music video. Between the these solo music three subunits also debuted. The order of these mvs are:
Heejin - vivid
Hyunjin - around you
Haseul - let me in
Yeojin - kiss later
⅓ (subunit of Haseul, Heejin, Hyunjin and Vivi) - love and live
Everyday I love you - Vivi ft. Haseul
Eclipse - Kim lip
Singing in the rain - Jinsoul
Love cherry motion - Choerry
Girl fromt - odd eye circle (subunit of Jinsoul, Kim Lip, Cheorry)
New - yves
Heart attack - Chuu
One and only - gowon
Egoist - Hyeju (used to have the stage name Olivia Hye) ft. Jinsoul
Love4eve - yyxy (subunit of Yves, Chuu, Gowon, Hyeju) ft. Grimes
Loona (fandom name: orbit) debuted under blockberrycreative, a subsidiary of Polaris entertaiment (you might know them as the entertaiment behind ladies code). Blockberry was a completely new entertainment and had, seemingly A LOT of money with which they afforded loonas pre debut project as well as the complicated lore. Here's a time line of all loona comebacks:
2018 - ++ with the title track Butterfly
2020 - # with the title track so what
2020 - 12:00 with the title track why not
2021 - hula hoop (japanese debut) with the title track hula hoop
2021 - & with the title track paint the town
2022 - luminous (Japanese single album) with the title track luminous
[You can listen either on SoundCloud, download illegally, on a Spotify playlist called loona boycott or even watch the music videos and almost every UA-cam video of the Loonatheworld channel on Google drive, just ask a Orbit for a link]
In 2021 Chuu filed a lawsuit to terminate her contract with blockberry creative. The lawsuit was settled and chuu could now manage her solo activities while blockberry was in charge of her group activities. A year later blockberry announced that Chuu would be kicked out of Loona because of "reports of abuse of power, such as Chuu's abusive language towards our staff." Chuu is one of the most popular members of Loona and brought the most money to blockberry. Her being kicked out of the group caused a outrage from fans, as well as staff, who worked with her and came to her defense, proving that blockberry was lying. This caused fans to start boycotting everything from Loona because the money would be used to sue Chuu (and later on the other members), so the girls where not profetting from the music any contet etc. With the time all members filled lawsuits to terminate their contracts. At the end all of the members won (blockberry is still trying to sue Chuu infront of the Supreme Court, we have to wait to see how this turns out). Trough the lawsuit the public could see what was going on behind the scenes: blockberry had, which was already known years prior, depths. So how could they afford loona? Well, the according to the contracts of the members, to members had to pay most of the cost for example a music video shooting. Through this blockberry might make a lot of depth, but can still make way more money theoretically, if they could handle money well. The court decided that these contracts where unfair and broke them up. After their contracts where suspended Loona very baldy wanted to stay as a group as 12, they often, and still do state this publicly. But no entertaiment wanted to take them. Besides modhaus, which is the entertaiment of their fromer creative director, Jaden Jeong. He is pretty controversial within the fandom. He is a creative genius, as you can see with the music video, but is even in the industry known to be hard to work with. Hyujin often implied that she does not want to work with hi again or be associated to him. Which is why the girls ended up with these groups and these entertaiments:
Artms (1:42 Haseul, 1:54 Heejin, 1:32 Cheorry, 1:10 Kim Lip, 1:20 Jinsoul) - modhaus (founded by Jaiden Jeong, TripleS is also in this entertainment; fandom name for Artms: OURRI because it has letters from every name of one of the members, it's pronounced like our/ours in Korean, the two ii meaning two in Roman numerals for the group and the fans, the five letters stand also for Oh which is the fith letter in the Korean alphabet and the first letter of Orbit)
Loossemble (Gowon, Hyeju, Hyunjin, Vivi, Yeojin) - CTDE&M (newly founded entertaiemnt by a former staff of blockberry; fandom name C.Loo, pronounced Crew)
Chuu - artp (her own agency, managed by her parents, she set up the agency back in 2021 to manage her solo activities; fandom name KKOTI, meaning flower and home)
Yves - PAIX PER MIL (indie music company, Yves is the first kpop idol in that company, she sayed that she is a member of Loona but wants to pursue a solo career, that's the reason why she is not part of loossemble or artms; unoffical fandom names: crunchapple or apple because her designated fruit is an apple or ehngdu also written as &du, wordplay means and you in German and probably in korean)
New music (is not boycotted):
Loossemble - mini album "loossemble assemble" with the title track sensitive
Odd eye circle - mini album "version up" with the title track air force one
Heejin - mini album "k" with the title track algorithm
Chuu - mini album " " with the title track Howl
Yves is currently working as a producer and is making her solo debut soon +
2. The loonaverse
Loonas lore is probably the most complex and complicated lore, so I only gonna touch the basics here. At the end of this comment I'm gonna recommend you some UA-cam Videos which dive deeper into the loonaverse.
The loonaverse is not as clear cut as other kpop lores. It normally just gives you small pieces of information you have to put together to a coherent picture, which is the reason why we bearly can give "facts" about the loonaverse. Rather I would say these are the most known and popular theories.
The loonaverse consists on the so called möbius strip, which you might know from math problems. On this möbius strip are three "worlds/places" the story plays:
The earth
Cosmos also called middle earth
Eden
The "original" story of loona (vivid until Butterfly (their creative director left) is that the girls want to need to find eachother to create a new moon.
After Jaiden left, different people with different ideas take over. In so what Hyeju burns the moon, maybe only one side, maybe the whole moon. Persemingly out of rage because her friends betrayed her. In the following music video the lore is not getting a lot more, you can see that blockberry was hesitant because it would be easy to destroy the lore because it might be very complex, but it is also very fragile (because the story is built on crumbs instead of a consisting storyline). Yet we still have some additions to the story like the conformation that Heejin created the loonaverse and is probably the God of the loonaverse.
Now with artms, Chuu and loossemble they all built their own lore, built upon the loonaverse.
Loossmemble is in a space ship searching for their friends (the rest of the loona members)
Chuu doesn't have heavy lore right now, but from the looks of it, her lore probably has something to do with flowers and is inspired by her own life.
Artms has the most complex and complicated lore. Artemis is the Greek goodness of hunting, the moon, the woods, virginity, birth and protector of mothers and their children.
One theory of what could be happening in the music video: the woman shown in the pictures and the light being is the same woman - the goodness Artemis. Heejin kills the deer, which is a symbol for Heejin killing Artemis (Heejins nails also light up in red at the end of the music video, which could symbolise blood on her hands). She kills Artemis, so she can get her powers and built the loonaverse.

Theory two: the deer is vivis representative animal. Vivi gets killed by either Cheorry or Jinsoul because the arrow has the color blue (Jinsouls color) or purple (Cheorrys color). In the butterfly choreography we can also see that Jinsoul is mad at Vivi or strongly dislikes her, even though we until now don't know why.
Theory three: the space baby's falling from the sky are lossemble. Loossemble is now in space, which probably is the Cosmos in the loonaverse. They are falling from the sky to be with loona again. Haseul also seems to know that the baby's are coming, but we don't know more about it yet.
Theory four: Choerry can teleport, depending on which theory she either needs a cherry, a mirror or a tree to do this. We can see here that Cheorry might have teleported herself but maybe wasn't strong enough or she traveled to time (either with the help of Kim Lip (who probably has the power to time travel) or she is on a diffrent location on the möbius strip, because the time on möbius strip works diffrently)
Theory four: artms members are in eden. We can see similar imagery in the yyxy music video, which plays in eden. Besides this in the love4eva mv is a female teacher, who seems very strict. This could be also the light being and/or the woman in the drawings.
Theory six: the light being is split into 5 parts, which is the exact number of the artms members. Maybe the light being is the reason behind the loonaverse.
