Playing without music is unhinged behaviour
At least we get to appreciate the ambient sounds, which are much more prominent compared to most other games.

You actually aren't that far off. The tracks that have those kinds of features that look like they might be shortcuts but aren't often have data in their files that suggest there _was_ a shortcut at one point. Pirate Skull Pass's powerup brick map has out of bounds bricks that correlate with a possible shortcut linked to that skull. Even Knightmarathon has two removed shortcuts that were discovered in a similar way.
As a child I realized that the time trials give you hints for shortcuts, either by Veronica Voltage driving through them or by placement of a non-green brick, which would otherwise be pointless in that track.
The only exception is in Ice Planet Pathway, where they'd put 3 whites and a blue brick towards the end for no reason. I went insane while searching for a shortcut that would open up with a fully powered up blue brick.
@@solidzack Maybe because if you weren't quick enough and didn't use the 3 white brick power-up right after you got it, you'd drive into the blue brick, thus having to search for another green one to appear?
Who else is furious that Knightmare-Athon has no shortcuts. I know that it supposed to have them but some fool decided to remove them.

The second one on Ice Planet Pathway, I wouldn't even consider a shortcut considering it slows you down more than actually helping. Less bricks, too. But I guess it still is technically a shortcut lmao

I never knew about the red/blue console that told you about which red/blue gates you needed to drive through, I always thought it was random :D

You missed the path above the lake in the cave, it has one of the only two green bricks in that level
