    It is a pleasure to listen to you sir. You are like a wise neighbor from a bygone era. Thank you I learned a lot.

    I also use a piece of tape on the drill bit, I do loads of holes at the depth I need then I do a pass with spray paint in a contrasting colour so while roughing out I can see the exact depth is reached and back off, because the bottom of the hole is a different colour than the surrounding area.
    I only use this method when the depth is very important but it works well.

    The Harbor Freight - Warrior 4 1/2 Carbide Disc I went to go pick one up today, they only had 2 in stock and they had no way near the grit on them as I see on yours. I bought one anyway.

    I can actually recommend the Hercules cordless angle grinder, but you need the 8 or 12 amp hour batteries. A five amp battery last about four minutes and the eight hour run about 40 min and balances the tool.

      @@TheHomeHandyman sorry, wife was typing and she didn’t have her glasses. The 8 amp hour battery is also frequently 2/$99 ; while I do not recommend using an 8 amp hour overhead (friggin heavy) they have 4 amp hour packs that use 21700 Samsung cells inside, or the 5 amp hour with 18650 Samsung cells (like Makita and Dewalt). I have not tried the 12 amp hour battery yet, but I really haven’t had a need. I am waiting for HF to come out with lawn equipment for Hercules.. or a track saw! I have the 20v Hercules circular saw coupled with 8 amp hour batteries and it is better than every previous circular saw I have used. I don’t love how stiff the safety for the trigger is, but the massive footprint of the base plate makes it extremely stable.

    I just bought and used a Kutzall Extreme extra coarse and in about 35ish minutes I turned an old maple quarter log of firewood into a fruit bowl - cleaned up the scratches with steel wool then torched it to char the wood with an acetylene oxygen torch (the outside only) turned out beautifully and I'm gonna see if I can sell the thing...to pay for the Kutzall which is now destroyed because I got a single catch and the damned thing got stuck on my angle grinder - the spanner included with my grinder didn't have long enough pins that I could engage the locking nut and clear the teeth...so teeth started breaking and even with a hammer I couldn't break the locking but free. Only way to get the damned thing off my grinder was to say to heck with it and lock it in my vice, teeth-be-damned, and with a punch and a hammer I was able to break it free. There goes $65

    Good stuff, been doing wood Halloween Jackolanterns and have stepped up the game to full scale. The Foredom TX ('Torque Monster' I think the T stands for) is a great tool, and does even the full scale shaping with decent speed, but the mess is unbearable (as Red would say). So, I've purchased a HF Jawhorse (they're top shelf tools), and have been using a couple cheap Chinese wheels I bought on a flash sale at Amazon mainly because they were so cheap, like you did with the HF, they work, but have issues like size, ineffeciency and they can be grabby (watch out if you go variable speed, everything grabs worse at lower speeds). Anyway, I am planning on doing exactly what you're doing there, sans the chainsaw blade step, as it seems too dangerous to me, being 3 piece.
    So I came here trying out what grit to buy for my Kutzall disk, there's actually 6 if you take into account the 2 arbor sizes(both are usable on most grinders with a standard stepped washer) and the old line vs the new "Extreme" line, which seems to overlap the old "Original" line grits. Seems like the Blue Coarse "Extreme" (vs the Silver Coarse "original" line) that you are using is a good choice for finishing, I was leaning toward the Coarse "Original" (Bronze colored). The Original line uses a different carbide attachment method, and seems more densely packed, thus leaving a smoother finish, but probably at the cost of speed to some degree.
    Still not sure, but now I know the new style Coarse (blue).
    I own quite a few 1/8 & 1/4" burrs by Kutzall, and Saburrtooth, both are super high quality, and both make tools that the other doesn't, so there's no brand bias here, but Saburrtooth only makes 4" and 5" wheels - and are both substantially more expensive than Kutzall. I can use all of the wheel I can get on the wood for hogging to shape, and all the cash I can keep in the kitty, so Kutzall wins the bid on this one. Plus, if you're a Sub of Jordys (Carving Fusion), you cab get 7% off Kutzall (Thanks Jordy, again) For what I save on the Kutzall 4 1/2", I can buy a HF wheel or 2!
    Thanks! I'm subbed.

      @TheHomeHandyman  4 роки тому +1

      Yes i do sub to Jordy and it does really nice wood spirits - tried it awhile back but i am in city so wood to practice on is hard to come by - and hard wood is even tougher to cut on and into -. Made a bowl and used kutzall and as well as they work it is still a job to do a lot of hogging out. You probably have more of the bits than i do and more access to wood but ill get back into it when i come across the right kind of wood. I agree with you on the chain saw blades. I tried it and then decided right off its not for me and im sure there are others that will ague they work great ......like the Lancelot etc.........just not something i am interested in..........thanks

    I like the straight forward honest points you are making and, although I don`t have an angle grinder but I do have an Arbortech mini Grinder which is really loud because of its high wattage motor but ear plugs cure that!!! I watch Jordy Johnsons videos on his Carving Fusion site you probably know him, and although I have not watched your video on angle grinder chainsaw wheels, he has said many times how dangerous these are if you are not skilled holding an angle grinder. I look forward to your reviews as I only subscribed tonight.

      thank you very much for the compliment and yes Jordy is correct and I know Jordy and have talked to him a few times discussing finishes and burrs. I just can not get behind the small chain saw discs and the dual chain disc from HF i took back and consider it extremely dangerous but i suppose if you are used to handling it ok but its just not for me...........again thank you

      I would think a chainsaw type attachment on a grinder would be dangerous because there isn’t a brake.

    I got the Kutzall very coarse dish wheel. It worked really well but not I can't get it off my angle grinder. The nut will not tun. Any tips to get it free. The dish of the wheel makes it even more difficult to keep the wrench on.

    • @TheHomeHandyman
      @TheHomeHandyman  3 роки тому +1

      you can try heating up the nut which should cause some expansion and that may work

    • @joec732
      @joec732 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheHomeHandyman i tried that a little with a propane torch but was worried about over heating the angle grinder and didn't know how to keep the shaft cool so it wouldn't expand along with the nut. So I stopped. You have technique?

    • @TheHomeHandyman
      @TheHomeHandyman  3 роки тому +1

      @@joec732 another suggestion would be to hold down the spindle lock or have someone hold it tight and with a socket and ratchet over the nut give it a couple good wacks.

    You only shaved the bark with the warrior. Much softer than the wood part of the log

    My 60 volt Cordless Dewalt is not gutless the 60 volt flexvolt grinders are one of the most powerful on the market right now other then the Milwaukee fuel grinders

      well ok to be fair here ...... i can not really speak to either of them because I don't own them ........ I just favor corded tools over cordless and i use everything in a shop type setting so it has never been a issue......now that being said i do own DeWalt 20 volt cordless and i use it all the time and love it ........... it is whatever works for you in what your doing ........thanks
