So Orthax isn't bound to the Pepperbox he inspired Percy to make, demons and devils kinda have different rules, you can only truly kill them in their domain (the Hells for Devils and the Abyss for Demons). When Scanlan throws the Pepperbox in the acid pool it destroys Orthax's pact with Percy but not the demon entirely, it found its way to Ripley but still has an axe to grind on the matter of Percy's soul. For those who watched the DnD sessions there's a fair amount of easter eggs for future campaigns in this episode
Worth noting that in the episode J'mon was always reffered to as "they" and is canonically non-binary as for your other theory... Guess we'll see. Ank'harel was so very pretty. Titmouse have stepped their game up again this season. It is soo good. There's some moments coming up in the next couole of episodes I think you'll absolutely love.
Not sure if you knew this, but the part where Scanlan yells "Objection!" is a nod to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, the main character from a popular game series that Sam Riegel (Scanlan) voices. That's his signature line from the game.
Everyone acts like J’mon is a good person. But turn people into golems depriving them of their identity and autonomy is fucked up. Even more fuked up than a death sentence. Especially considering how shitty their law enforcement and judicial system is based on this episode. A typical magical tyrant, looking at whom you begin to understand Ripley's point of view.
The "objection" and finger pointing pose is a reference to Ace Attorney. Sam Riegel (Scanlan) voices Phoenix Wright in the games.
Only point of note - J’mon is non-binary! One of my absolute favorite NPCs in C1
5:33 fun fact: The little boy is voiced by Ronin Willingham, Travis (the voice of Grog) and Laura's (the voice of Vex) son in real life.
Omg, I figured it was one of their kids but I didn't realize it was Ronin! I remember when he was born. Where the hell does time go?
Yup little guys first voice credit
wtf Ronin is so big now! Time flies and I feel old lol
The way I hollered when J’mon said “zerxus ilerez” 😭❤️
I watched EXU Calamity for the first time like 2 weeks ago, I don't remember the last time a show utterly shocked me like this
@@moondancer89 the Calamity is a masterclass in storytelling. I’ve seen it three times!
@@vanessaaves3271 same... and thinking on watching it again cause it is so damn good
@@BaronesaReturns episode 4 was the most intense second from any show I’ve ever seen. “HAS IT AT LEAST BEEN ONE SECOND?!?!”
“….. no.”
Question is, did J'mon set off Vex's senses, or did the dragonling?
Everybody is interested in the vestiges, they're legendary magic artifacts.

The cutest thing is that the kid playing with the toy gun was voiced by Ronin, Travis and Laura’s son 😁
One minor thing: Gilmore was actually exonerated with the group, he’s good to go
I can’t wait to see your reaction to the next episode
Ank'Harel is amazing and their highness J'mon Sa Ord is just the best.

“That was easy.” That’s what a high deception check will get you. Usually with advantage when a character is disguised in a convincing manner.
