Could someone shed some light on how large the City of Kyiv and its suburbs is as far as land mass? I know the city has nearly 3 million inhabitants and have heard that it stretches over 40 miles which seems huge.

Could someone shed some light on how large the City of Kyiv and its suburbs is as far as land mass? I know the city has nearly 3 million inhabitants and have heard that it stretches over 40 miles which seems huge.
