I sent you a message in your website, please listen to our request, we need a voice that people will really hear. Help us save our planet!
Good luck! Do a little bit of studying daily right after class in a library somewhere, it will help you develop good study habits! It’s usually never the material, it always the good study habits that make a good student!
I love how Charles maintains massive amounts of knowledge and intelligence but also maintains that equality of learning where he makes people who aren't yet physics literate feel respected. Love it.
I’ve binged about 100 episodes over the past couple weeks, and this dude is definitely my favorite guest on StarTalk (with the Santa dude talking about misinformation coming in second). Speaks so well, I would love to be his student.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. Imagine having these two as your college professor, what a dream come true for any students. Also, Sir Charles is definitely the type of professor you would learn a lot from. Something with the way he speak that is so encouraging. More episode with Sir Charles Liu, please. I hope you two could visit The Philippines and do talk here. ❤️ from Philippines.
Am absolutely watching. And has been one of my best shows so far, mostly because of a lot of questions being read and answered, less time on jokes, and 3 minds contributing. Thanks. Continue Keeping us SMART
This was a great one. Charles Liu is awesome, like Neil it's such a pleasure to listen to him. And Matt is a great co-host. Not interupting all the time like Chuck does sometimes, but still makes some great comments.
Bring Dr Charles back.. the two of you are great together.. add chuck in there and this will hit different.. of course little gun here is always great hahah
Geometry and mathematics play a crucial role in understanding the vast complexities of astrophysics, from the shape of galaxies to the behavior of black holes. Their principles help us decode the structure of the universe and predict cosmic phenomena. How might future mathematical advancements and geometric theories further enhance our understanding of the cosmos?
What did I learn this Summer? I learned the difference between a Cemetery and a Graveyard. The difference is; A Cemetery is a City or Municipal burial ground, with all the associated crypts, etc. And a Graveyard is a burial ground, with all the associated crypts, etc. but either attached to or on the property of a Church. 👍

I always think this but my goodness what a great guest today! I really enjoyed this episode and i now understand a little bit More. Thanks for sharing and as always keep building👍
People think that science is learning a bunch of facts but science is actually has a lot of creativity. It is not just scientists like art, you have to be somewhat creative to became a scientist. My wife is a neuroscientists and I am an artist and I realize this all the time. She sometimes is more creative than me in her job and I found my self more like a copy machine than a creative artist. On my bad days.
I love Star Talk, but i really think it would be a good idea to put on the title of these videos, the guest's name instead of "With Neil deGrasse Tyson"
On the twins thing...... Twin1 and twin2 are at Central Station. Twin1 stays on the platform with 2 mirrors facing each other. Twin2 gets on a train with 2 mirrors facing each other . While the train is still a beam of light is started in each pair of mirrors. 186,000 miles per second is how far each beam of light goes between each pair of mirrors. Twin2 starts in the train and is soon traveling 1 mile a second. Very fast train. The light between twin2's mirror now travels 186,000 miles each second but 1 of those miles is in the direction of the train. Locally, for him, between the 2 mirrors the light travels 185,999 miles each second. Twin2 is 1/186,000th of a second younger each second than twin1.
I dont know much about astrophysics so this question might sound stupid. If the earth puts the moon in orbit, if the sun puts the solar system in orbit, if the blackhole puts all the stars and planets in orbit. Do you think that the galaxy in orbiting something bigger on a large scale that cannot be measured? And is it possible there is something putting the universe itself in an orbit? Sorry if I sound stupid. Big fan of your lectures and videos by the way 😊
May I point out that if someone were to eat enough beans to launch even them-self off the ground, more than likely it will not just be gas which is being released.
Niel .. 2 years ago i was homeless living on the streets of spokane wa .. i'm Paraplegic and receive like 700 bucks a month .. life sucked .. accept when you came to town.. i Believe i was the only Homeless person in attendance .. Second heard that certain rumors have been denounced. As a rational fan .. they never made it pass the "and the problem is?" test .. glad that is over ..
With regards to the balloon question: The kid means a balloon with air escaping the normal nozzle. Not a popped balloon. The nozzle is loose and flopping around and producing the thrust in multiple directions and the balloon moves in the opposite direction to the net vector of mass(air) the balloon lets out.
I think the explanation on the Balloon's chaotic propulsion was incorrect. In my opinion, it's mainly because of the content of the Balloon being Helium, when it collides with heavier gases, it will tend to move aside therefore displacing the nozzle away from its previous point. This can be observed with how bubbles move upward because water displaces it, only difference is the movement of the balloon is influenced by the nozzle's location. I may be wrong though but I'm still open to correction.
9:59 to 15:40 is like a sequel to some of the discussion in NDT and Donald Goldsmith's book "Origins", leading right up to Michio Kaku's books (Physics of the Impossible & Hyperspace specifically, but as a proponent of string theory, he brings it up in the books of his that I've read). What's new to me, here, is what these books haven't mentioned: how an entire universe is packed into the size smaller than a proton, and Tyson actually says right here that at the temperatures of the early universe, matter is not matter as we know it but more like energy; and Liu adds to that with possibilities like extra dimensions and particles that may not even exist anymore. Fantastic!

Dr. Charles is a great guest! I love his enthusiasm and the way he explains things.
