IDEAS FOR NEW LOCATIONS: The Library of Kakariko The Traveling Circus Royal Guard Training Camp The Kokiri Floating Gardens Keaton Quarry The Minish Academy of Magic Error Town Zora Community Market The Lost Temples of Cyclos and Zephos The Deku Graveyard Just some ideas. Also, if you're gonna truly go big or go home, may I suggest a village for each of all the different sentient species? I wanna see Mogma Dunes, Kikwi Plains, Lokomo Valley, Mt. Minish, Anouki Town, and so on, eluding to the idea that all these species have always been in Hyrule, but maybe just not mentioned in every story. Sorry, I could go on. I'm a big fan of this project, and it really has my mind racing 😅
I feel like keeping a spreadsheet of locations for the project would help out immensely, so that we're ensuring we're treading new soil with our suggestions.
We need a Hyrule-ified Las Vegas. Just a town that has little mini games, (maybe making reference to some of the mini games you can play through the series). It would be neat and feed into the luxurious life they led before their downfall.
maybe the Morningstar and horseshoe rocks would be good locations for that? maybe some shiekah monasteries inspired by Xhaolin warriors were erected around them to safeguard pilgrims from gerudo rebels?
I think something that might be an interesting design note for the whole project is that this iteration of Hyrule should probably be very militaristic. Windwaker follows Ocarina in the timeline where Link was sent back by Zelda, so the royal family is acutely aware there *is* no hero. This might mean more forts/military installations but also a sense of paranoia. What does a Hyrule that knows it has no hero do? What are its politics like? Are there families distinguishing themselves as warlords? Things like that.
I love your videos. I wish you would talk more about what you’re designing and how it fits into the world instead of the the project as a whole. I feel like we hear all the same things in every video. So I’d love to hear more about how these locations fit into your version of Hyrule
Showing the doomsday vibe of this world would be really really cool. Tell little stories of the different places when it all comes down, only to lead to Wind Waker would be so damn good. The whole contrast of the "safe" ocean world of wind waker to the contrast of the doomed world that lay below will hit really hard.
I think more settlements, namely farmsteads or various little mining villages or such would work and tie in the infrastructure of the whole world. Maybe some above ground remnants of some of the various underground ruins and mines of totk would be cool. Other than that I feel like some enemies hideous dotted around would be cool. We can't expect Ganon to take over hyrule in a day, he had to have been building towards it, and to that end, maybe the people of this hyrule did live such good lives they were sort of blind to it. More attractions like Tingles park or Castle Town Theater. Even bigger military encampments, make people think "even if Ganon did attack, there's no way he'd defeat our military".
@@windwakerhyruleYou could have a character introduce it like that, maybe, and then someone else immediately calls them out for lying and gives the true name, or they were reading the sign horribly wrong, or something else. Then you can include this name as a gag and have another more serious name as well
There is one legend in the series who has never gotten his name recognized. One man who has let his name sink to the annals of history, disappearing in the many pages that make up the book of the Legend of Zelda. It is, then, poetic that this village that has never existed be a new testament to this man, who was, in the end, a cornerstone of his own adventure. It is with great and honest wishes that I would like to dub this town Error.
tbh this project has been a really big insperation for me personally. and ive even taken up a project of my own thats decently similar! but i think there is ONE idea that can be brought over! in botw, the description for the salt is that it once came from the great sea that once was in hyrule. i took insperation from that where i was thinking that a mountain would have layers of salt as the ocean had evaporated or gone away! though unflooded hyrule is sort of the OPPOSITE way around, i still think the visual of a mountain with lines of pink salt running through it is really cool. (which i can prove bc i made my own version of it and it looks SICK)
Really excited to hear your plans to mesh your film making passion with this project. Would be really cool to see cutscenes in this world. Especially at some of the newer custom locations too.
I’ve been working on a rather large Zelda project myself and developing some ideas and concepts that I feel are appropriate to the themes and Concepts of the series. I’ll be glad to share with you two concepts I’ve developed for it. Firstly, I’m not sure if you’ve developed any swamps, but I’ve got a sort of swamp zora in my setting that occupies a handful of swamps, sometimes along side deku scrubs. A friend in our group called them the Cajun zora, and we fell in love with the idea that they have a Cajun/creole identity to them. Another concept we have is a tribe of Rito. As you likely know, the Rito of WW were mailmen. When I think of Mailmen in Zelda, I think of the guys in red hats that run like hell, and the infamous footrace. We combined all those concepts into a nomadic plains rito tribe that focuses less on flight and more on running. They would be scattered, mostly living out of tents they can pack up at a moment’s notice. I imagine a kind of bohemian aesthetic to them.
Maybe near Stovepipe to fill in the terrain, a strip mine/quarry site where there's some ancient ruins/zonai ruins. Or maybe one of the mountains has a chunk carved out of it as the Hyrulians desperately mined out resources. Might be tough to work into a story, but a Hyrule that sacrificed an ancient ruin to exploit the resources there to fuel the military industry churned out by the foundry under Stovepipe? Got to remember, this is the Hyrule between OOT and WW. A Hyrule that survived a great war with the Gerudo, Ganondorf, and his monstrous legion summoned with his warlock powers, the starvation of the Goron, the freezing of Zora's Domain, the draining of Lake Hylia, the destruction of Castle Town, the rise of Ganon's Tower, the loss of the Deku Tree. Hyrule was battered, bruised, and pieced back together... only for Ganon to return and no hero to rise to stop him, for the seven sages to fall, and for the king of Hyrule to make a last ditch effort to seal Ganondorf away...
Something I feel a lot of Zelda games are missing is farmland, gotta feed all those people! If you're at the point of just adding things for fun I'd love pumpkin patches, gardens, and livestock fields- the type of thing the player rides through on horseback just taking it in. When road-tripping across the USA I photographed all the the oldest, gnarled trees I could find. You get these like pieces of ancient feeling forests on the borders between farms, awkward rocky spots no one bothers to farm. They feel like spots that have hidden treasures, lol. It'd be the perfect spot to hide a picori village too!
A library of Alexandria type structure would be interesting, sort of a monument to the knowledge and pride of Hyrule, one that was destroyed with the flood
What I would like to see more of video wise is less talk about the idea of the project and more about what is actually being worked on. Ive kept up to date with multiple episodes but sometimes I feel like the same things are mentioned everytime and such little is spent on the idea/concept of what is on screen.
That River you made that circles the whole town, what if you make that basically be a river that splits off from the closest river into that area and splits and goes around the town and then have it connect again on the other side before going into a lake or the ocean, also that little Lake you have you could make it look like a canal was built to basically funnel water into that little mini Lake to make it look like a water reservoir for the town
Given the origins of the series as a whole; good caves are definitely a must. I also think caves are a good chance to explore the monsters of the time. Monsters change so much between the games and some have even transitioned to being respected cultures within the kingdoms. Zoras are the obvious example but even Deku Scrubs have been shown to be capable of trade and negotiations in OOT. So maybe you could have some structures that imply the beginnings of a monster tribe, in caves strewn across the map. Many monsters would have likely been killed by the great flood, so it wouldn't have to be a species that appeared in WW; and by avoiding species found in the game, you could paint a before and after image that extends even to the changes in WHO inhabited the land. Of course, things that are viewable from the outside are probably preferable and caves don't typically fit that bill, but maybe it's a complex cave system and they have some form of rudimentary guard tower on all the entrances... IDK the idea definitely needs some workshopping, but I think it has potential, probably...
I think it'd be funny if you made an absolutely miniscule picori village under a flower somewhere. I mean, it's an absolutely terrible use of time in terms work/reward balance, but it would also be really neat.
My suggestion would be a Jungle area, not necessarily a recreation of Faron from BOTW/TOTK per say but with all the plains and mountain areas could be cool to see a dense jungle area in that Wind Waker style
I don't know if an unflooded Hyrule would have a sea but I was thinking maybe a beach town similar to the one in botw could be good. Maybe it could be a Zora settlement. I'm imagining it could also have a huge lighthouse possibly serving as a dungeon?
In addition to the Library and Graveyard mentioned by Andrew_and_Amelia, if you want to add a village, I suggest a hidden forest village of talking animals. This could be where characters such as Ricky, Moosh, and Dimitri (all from the Oracle games) would have originated from in the fallen timeline, had Hyrule not flooded. As for sages, perhaps the "elements" they represent should be more reflective of the times, which could help with the narrative aspects. Sage of Bones (similar to spirit) - to show the sorrow of those who will be forgotten after the flood Sage of Sand (similar to earth) - to show how the advances of society will always crumble Sage of Ice (similar to water) - has themes about being frozen in time, unable to adapt and move on Sage of Embers (similar to fire) - dying hope like a dying fire Sage of Stars - themes of looking for guidance from the goddesses The star sage could even have the temple in an area surrounded by constant cloud cover, unable to look to the heavens for guidance, foretelling the doom to fall upon the land.
Even "senior" 3D modelers don't know everything. They've just got more experience. That doesn't make them more talented or "better" than a junior modeler. Be proud of your work and show it to people. Even the funny or shitty creations.
This is my sugestion: Do you remember the aliens that appear in Majora's Mask? Maybe, somewhere on the map, build a crashed spaceship, where you can place as an Easter egg, a place that has some treasure inside (like a big house) or even make a small dungeon.
Looking forward to watching this! Out of curiosity, how interconnected to you expect some of these locations to be each other? I've done similar passion terrain work before on a different game, so keeping up with this series is going to be really exciting for me! One thing I could loosely suggest would that it might actually be pretty fun to come up with something wholly unique to yourself to include somewhere on the map, even if it's only something small. I think the kingdom of Hyrule is large enough to leave your own mark on it ;)
@@windwakerhyrule Apologies, perhaps I should have specified. I guess what I meant was whether or not you were planning on having most, if not the entirety of the map being topologically 'open world' and arranged in actual space, as opposed to realistically sequestered off via loading zone bottlenecks, such as in the in-game Hyrule model that has Ganondorf's tower so close by it. Sorry if I wasn't clear before, or if I'm still not making sense either. Regardless, I'm happy to keep watching!
@@windwakerhyrule I think he means something along the lines of how well they connect via roads and shortcuts. For example, in OoT, almost every location is accessible by hyrule field, but there are other paths from one location to another such as the Zora's Domain waterfall shortcut to Lost Woods, or Zora's Domain to Lake Hylia shortcut.
this map could make an awesome total war: wind waker edition. zoras/rito vs. gorons, gerudo rebels vs. gerudo loyalists, deku's and kokiri repelling anyone trying to collect timber for the war, Hyrule trying to keep the peace while everyone is trying to tear itself apart, but it has to fight its own corruption in the proses. and in the end ganon comes out like a calamity, and before everyone goes extinct a representation of each race with a piece of the Tri force bands together to try and save their people from total annihilation. and then it started to rain.
It is super impressive to me that you are even able to do this it would be super cool of you could do this in the BOTW hyrule map imagen how cool it would be to make your own towns and villeges there
A town by a lake on the Eastern end of Hyrule... makes me think of Kasuto from Adventures of Link! If you want something completely new though... Trival, Kanak, Donn, Litia, just some random things off the top of my head lol.
Hmmm. Yeah, I only occasionally pop in because you're a very visual channel. I put UA-cam on when cooking, cleaning, or something where I'm not looking at the screeb constantly. I cannot say I have anything in mind for you to flesh out, so I guess I'll try to add in some real world inspiration. That would be more farms and farmland (which you probably already added in). Maybe some non-Goron mines. Heck, maybe some older, lesser known species like the Anouki, 'though they are arguably a post-flooding species.
The Raru Settlement Ruins are a town in The Legend of Zelda that was heavily damaged during the Great Calamity and is no longer visible in the games ... what if we just simply called it the Raru Settlement?
Since I only just discovered this project I've been hesitant to make any suggestions of what to add. However, I've noticed the train tracks and you talk about the trains before, but I haven't seen any dedicated train stations. Is there some kind of central station that was added in a previous video? Or is that something you'd have to find a place for and add into the map?
I'm gonna propose something that most will not. I'm not going to to propose a specific location but what i would like to see is the actual connection of the areas. This isn't to say you cannot add more areas still but i would start to fill the gaps. I do a similar process when i am building large scale minecraft maps and such, I'll begin by creating a reference (Your map) then i will begin working on whichever large project tickles my fancy the most. As i start to run out of steam i will begin filling in the more minor areas which makes things feel even more complete and can even give more inspiration for more large projects. On top of this i feel like there is so much storytelling that can be done in minor areas that also helps feel the world more fleshed out instead of individual areas cobbled together and connected
9:27 I think a fan game using this map will also be very cool (but cannonicly there shouldn't be a Link during this time so idk)(also nintendo isnt the biggest fan of fan games so idk)(also making games is hard (I know how to make games just not good games) so idk)
@@RabbiB0Y I know how to make games in Unity. I have only published 1 game by now and it isnt that good. I think I might be able to make a decent game if I put enough effort in to it (I'm now working on a bigger game so Ill see how it goes)
You are talking about somewhere else for the zoras, what about a marshy land and this place could be home to the river Zoras that spit Fireballs at you in Link to the Past
I don't know how feasable it would be, but I wonder if the Unicorn Fountain from Ocarica of Time's cut content would possible in some degree? How about other beta areas that were cut from other games? Also, I wonder how 2D game landmarks could be added if at all?
I would absolutely love to see this become a full mod/fan game, is there a chance somebody would be allowed to use the finished model to do so? Or is that already part of the plan?
After hearing the part around 4:50, I feel a lil' bad asking, in case someone else already did, but would Lurelin village/the surrounding tropics area from Botw be represented in this map project?
I still remember the announcement on TV and the trailer of the video game when I got in my first time, played it on GameCube 20 years ago time really does fly Zelda played such a crucial moment in my life. I even have a Triforce tattooed on me. Now, please tell me that you’re remaking this to be played not just to be observed please tell me I can play it
Since we are creating new things what if you create the Timeless realm or something that is in reference to that place where the monster Majora resided until a nameless Warrior came along and Play the song of healing to release the beast Majora from its suffering leaving it's Armour behind but the armor still had the power of the Beast majora so he took a piece of the armor and carved the Majora's Mask out of it in order to seal that power and even though that is basically the manga where that happened the game did mention an ancient people that used the mask for witchcraft, I don't remember if you made a reference to Termina or Clock Town but if you did maybe you can create another town of this ancient people that use the Majora's Mask near the area you have created Termina
How about a land for the scrapped minish from BOTW or some villages or towns or cities based off some of races that weren’t in the console games and/or Windwaker like the hooded, and lizard like characters from the Oracle Games.
can you make a new villige in TOTK ? it was so dissepointing that they only added one new settelment so i would love to see somone doing what nintendo could not
Hm, feels a little weird to me to have an isolated loop of river like that, I think personally I would either expand it into a full lake, or connect it to other rivers/bodies of water
I'm a fairly recent viewer, been watching since about 3 videos back, my question is, is there anyone who has suggested to you to plan a Playable version of this map? (like any modders or the like), i think it would be quite cool to play a custom WW Hyrule
I'll confess something. I do not know anything about the legend of zelda franchise outside of Twilight Princess, a finfic I love reading, and my own headcanons. So I could tell you to add things but they're things that have never existed and you'd have no idea what I'm even talking about.
@@windwakerhyrule From Growing Up Gerudo there's a coluseum the Gerudo use when a girl is ready to become a woman. And in later chapters a few gerudo move closer to hylian towns their homes would stand out because they'd blend the two styles a little. For some slightly rooted in facts fanfictioning, you could make some easter egg locations sugesting what happened to each respective game's version of link probably again in the form of a home somewhere. And for something 100% baseless wouldn't it be nice if the various monster people of hyrule had a place of their own like a Bokoblin Town. Of course then there'd need to be a location aknowledging the big bads of each game.
Asking AIs for a creative project like this is the total opposite of what the vision is. People coming up with ideas, places and stories is the whole idea of this project.
If you're adding character models to this later after building the entire map out, then I would like to see River Zora, a place somewhere they live or some other, like a cave behind a waterfall.
Hi Joe, I'm currently working on a 3D version of "princess rock" down in the south east of the map. Is there a way to show you the progress i've made so far? thx in advance

The star sage could even have the temple in an area surrounded by constant cloud cover, unable to look to the heavens for guidance, foretelling the doom to fall upon the land.
I think a fort or something near the base of the mountain where the Earth Temple is would be neat

This is my sugestion: Do you remember the aliens that appear in Majora's Mask? Maybe, somewhere on the map, build a crashed spaceship, where you can place as an Easter egg, a place that has some treasure inside (like a big house) or even make a small dungeon.
Cobblepoint village feels like a name for me
I think a fully explorable Hyrule castle would be really cool.
I agree
Looking forward to watching this! Out of curiosity, how interconnected to you expect some of these locations to be each other? I've done similar passion terrain work before on a different game, so keeping up with this series is going to be really exciting for me! One thing I could loosely suggest would that it might actually be pretty fun to come up with something wholly unique to yourself to include somewhere on the map, even if it's only something small. I think the kingdom of Hyrule is large enough to leave your own mark on it ;)
What do you mean by “interconnected?” Also, thanks for watching!
For example, in OoT, almost every location is accessible by hyrule field, but there are other paths from one location to another such as the Zora's Domain waterfall shortcut to Lost Woods, or Zora's Domain to Lake Hylia shortcut.
i think i know what you mean, okay. yes - everything will be in a single map, in a single model! great question
this map could make an awesome total war: wind waker edition. zoras/rito vs. gorons, gerudo rebels vs. gerudo loyalists, deku's and kokiri repelling anyone trying to collect timber for the war, Hyrule trying to keep the peace while everyone is trying to tear itself apart, but it has to fight its own corruption in the proses. and in the end ganon comes out like a calamity, and before everyone goes extinct a representation of each race with a piece of the Tri force bands together to try and save their people from total annihilation. and then it started to rain.
I would really like to see this on a alternative wind waker end where ganon touches the trifoce and wish that hyrule return
How about some kind of Sheikah lookout, watching over the gerudo desert somewhere?
This is sick
Heck, maybe some older, lesser known species like the Anouki, 'though they are arguably a post-flooding species.
have you added fairy fountains at all? obviously no interiors or anything, but just alcoves where they could be
I don't know if you already made it but maybe a town inspired by clock town; not exactly the same town but with some similarity.
Have you considered trying to introduce transit infrastructure like the spirit tracks across the world?
What do you know?
@@RabbiB0Y I know how to make games in Unity. I have only published 1 game by now and it isnt that good. I think I might be able to make a decent game if I put enough effort in to it (I'm now working on a bigger game so Ill see how it goes)
have you made a New Hylian Village yet?
this is a joke, btw
Zelda WindWaker: Dehydrated
perfect title
This is pretty cool tbh. Can i ask, when the map is complete are you able to import it into the WW engine and run about? That would be cool
I do hope you share this when it's finished so someone can create the game the valley of the flood
I would absolutely love to see this become a full mod/fan game, is there a chance somebody would be allowed to use the finished model to do so? Or is that already part of the plan?
Any reference to Vaati in the map? He is my favorite villain in the Zelda games
If you haven't done it already. A neat one would be those (eight?) gerudo warrior statues from BotW.
ooh good suggestion
I mean, Zelda 2 has several towns named after the sages in oot, and one town named after Mido. So maybe make a few misc towns based upon that.
After hearing the part around 4:50, I feel a lil' bad asking, in case someone else already did, but would Lurelin village/the surrounding tropics area from Botw be represented in this map project?
I know this doesn’t really relate to the video outside Zelda, but I just read the 4 Sword manga and it was super good.
It could be this Hyrule's Ordon village. Otherwise, I like the name " Teazlake village"
looks nice, do you build this map for a Wind Waker mod that could be fully played?
I still remember the announcement on TV and the trailer of the video game when I got in my first time, played it on GameCube 20 years ago time really does fly Zelda played such a crucial moment in my life. I even have a Triforce tattooed on me.
Now, please tell me that you’re remaking this to be played not just to be observed please tell me I can play it
Plz add Whiterun to Zeldo
Awesome!
As for the village there’s Iwata Village
How about a land for the scrapped minish from BOTW or some villages or towns or cities based off some of races that weren’t in the console games and/or Windwaker like the hooded, and lizard like characters from the Oracle Games.
will this ever become available as a playable mod? its looking Amazing and I would love to explore it as link
at some point, you could try modeling something to do with misko from botw/totk
can you make a new villige in TOTK ? it was so dissepointing that they only added one new settelment so i would love to see somone doing what nintendo could not
Hm, feels a little weird to me to have an isolated loop of river like that, I think personally I would either expand it into a full lake, or connect it to other rivers/bodies of water
good note, good note
Is this going to be a playable map? Or just explorable in spectator mode?
if you look for idea for the story wind waker intro literally tell you what happened
I'm a fairly recent viewer, been watching since about 3 videos back, my question is, is there anyone who has suggested to you to plan a Playable version of this map? (like any modders or the like), i think it would be quite cool to play a custom WW Hyrule
please release the blend file when it's done, i wanna use libsm64 to pop mario into the scene and run around
railway showcase video plz??
we should turn this map into an actual game
Well we already have a Terry Town so why not Jerry Town? XDDDDDD. Or name the town Elderon
Jerry Town is good
What about Morshutopia?
you are so right
Ooccoo Village
I propose: New Isle Village
ok
I don't suppose you'd be needing animators for these theoretical shorts, would you?
I would love to have some more animators on board
Well, in that case, you know where to find me
feel free to email me at windwakerhyrule@gmail.com - would love to see a reel
I'll confess something. I do not know anything about the legend of zelda franchise outside of Twilight Princess, a finfic I love reading, and my own headcanons. So I could tell you to add things but they're things that have never existed and you'd have no idea what I'm even talking about.
boldness and unsubstantiated creativity is exactly what this project needs
Ask ChatGPT and other AI’s about every square on the map, it could uncover some undiscovered details that could be incorporated
No. 😕 I will not be doing that, and it’s a bad idea.
Asking AIs for a creative project like this is the total opposite of what the vision is. People coming up with ideas, places and stories is the whole idea of this project.
Make a little path under the lost woods that leads to the interdimensional door that opens Termina.
If you're adding character models to this later after building the entire map out, then I would like to see River Zora, a place somewhere they live or some other, like a cave behind a waterfall.
Hi Joe,
I'm currently working on a 3D version of "princess rock" down in the south east of the map. Is there a way to show you the progress i've made so far? thx in advance
