Yes, that is one way to do it if you want to fish two droppers. Or, if you just want one dry and one dropper, tie this knot using the end of the leader with a separate piece of tippet. From there, the dry can go on the tag, and the dropper will go on the end of the tippet. Fish On!
No, we want the tag end to be angled down towards the bottom fly. That is what makes this knot different from a normal surgeon's knot. This way, when we fight a fish, there is less tension on the knot, making it stronger. Thanks for watching!
thanks man, I'm starting to implement fly-fishing knots into my surf fishing rigs with great success, this knot has worked exceptionally well for me.
Just reading your comment. And I’m going to start using them in my knots for the surf.
Great video showing how to tie this useful knot! Just starting to practice this knot for rigging flies
Nicely done.
Great video with clear instructions. Thank you. Isn't this very similar to the Davy knot?
I like this one!
When you show the rigs at the end, on the dry dropper rig - is the tippet tied to the dry off the bend of the hook?

Very infomative, thanks! Does it matter which tag you trim off for the knot to work properly?
Marty, use the tag end that is angled downward to attach another fly. Trim the tag facing upward towards your fly line. Thanks, Fish on!
I'm not sure about the dry dropper set up?
Scott, do what three times? Did you mean going around the loop thrice before passing tag&leader through the loop?
I meant to pass tippet and tag through the loop three times.
hello, will you use the tag end that is facing upward or downward?
thank you
Use the tag end facing downward👍
Use the upward facing tag end for this knot, it reduces tangles. It also wont break like it does with the surgeons knot :)
You need to tie the Orvis Tippet Knot with a pair of hemostats. Makes it about ten times easier.
Would this work for running two streamers?
Yes for sure we run two streamers with this knot all the time.
I think you trimmed the wrong end.

my favorite tippet knot excecpt i cut the bottom so the fly stays away from the line I find i get less tangles
tippet aint cheap bro
If you own a fly shop tipped is cheap lol
tippet is cheap? no, leader is cheap!
