This was originally released in 1982 and peaked at #73. A year later the soap opera General Hospital started using it as Luke and Holly's theme song and it shot to #1.
Yes, we lost James much too soon. I loved his songs. He made the perfect duet partner with any female singer. His soulful voice is amazing. Again, another song I grew up with. Thanks for taking me back to a much warmer time for music. 👍👍
Nice!!!! Would love to hear some Luther Vandross and Cherl Lynn singing "If This World Was Mine" and especially Teddy Pendergrass and Stephanie Mills singing "Feel the Fire"
Both James & Patti were seasoned, in-demand studio vocalists. They were able to seamlessly transition from lead vocal to backing vocal - alternating between each other without 1 overshadowing the other. Beautiful voices and masterful vocal control. RIP James Ingram - you are missed! Peace. 🙏🙏🙏
Quincy’s genius on display. This is definitely “Fire & Ice”. You have Ingram’s soulful midwestern gospel connecting with Austin’s polished NYC session singing. I believe Ingram also played keyboards on some of Q’s stuff. Incredible musicianship🎼🔥
This was my first introduction into Patti Austin. I immediately went out and bought the album when it was first released. Those tasteful guitar fills were provided by Steve Lukather from the rock group Toto.
i did ask for this in my comments so glad you liked it and its on your phone been on mine for years love your channel by far best on you tube mike from england
This was one of THE best smooch songs..it was one of 'our' songs with my fiancee..the 80's had such fantastic r and b music especially the love songs..clicked on straight away when l saw this was coming on..oh such great happy memories..perfect song..they were a true duet partnership..they both made this another 80's banger..🇬🇧💞✝️🙏🎵🎼
This is a very profoundly emotional song! I really can't describe it with mere words! Groovy, far out & out of sight! Oh yeah, James ,& Patty also provided vocals for the magical song Aino Corida by Quincy Jones! Just some fun information! Goodbye once more!
One of my all-time favorite love song, and easily one of the greatest R&B/soul duets of all time (not only the 1980s). And thank God the producers of 'General Hospital' decided to use it in a key scene of that soap. Because otherwise, most people would never have heard it. When it was first released in early 1982, it flopped on the pop singles chart (peaking at a lowly No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100). But thanks to 'General Hospital,' the song got a second chance, which was the charm. A huge No. 1 hit single on both the pop and adult contemporary charts in early 1983.
Two artists whose voices blend soulfully to produce classic easy listening soul ballads. Neither of them are trying to out sing the other and the flow of Quincy Jones producing brings out the best of their voices on this song. Try listening to How do you keep the music playing 🎤🎵🎶🎼
There were lots of duets in this time, and this song is one of my favorites. I wish I had added this to your request of duets, but in the future, consider Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams "Without Us", I'm sure you will love that one!
How do I keep the music playing by Patti an James is another great one from them in '82. Also, If this world were mine by Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn is amazing! ('82)
A cover of the Bob Seger song WEVE GOT TONIGHT by Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton is a must duet. As well as Barry Gibb and Barbra Streisand together on WHAT KIND OF FOOL from the Guilt album the Bee Gees produced for Miss Streisand. And Billy Preston with Syreeta Wright, who is Stevie Wonder's ex-wife, sing WITH YOU IM BORN AGAIN. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Angela. And enjoy
Patti Austin. One of the most underrated female soul singers from that era. The problem back (a good problem) then there were so many talented, female artist outstanding voices. I believe Patty didn’t get the credit she deserved. As for James Ingram, the man was a legend and will be missed. Of course the producer of this song, other than legendary Quincy Jones.
You’re right: when Patti released “Baby Come To Me” and started recording as a Quincy Jones stalwart, the R&B female talent roster throughout the 80’s was expansive. Patti was contending with the likes of Stephanie Mills, Phyllis Hyman, Evelyn King, Anita Baker, Angela Bofill, Regina Belle, Vesta Williams, Angela Winbush, Miki Howard, Shirley Murdock, Meli’sa Morgan, etc. I wouldn’t say Patti was unsung; she was reliable and the industry respected her vocal gifts.
Sophisticated and grounded, what a combination! Great, just great. Can't say for sure but it sounds like Michael McDonald may have joined them on the chorus. The song has his touch, implied or otherwise.
No, that's it's a sexy mother saying some of these women do it. Great job and then. I just get a little. Wow, a little bit too much for me. You know too much dramatic or something. You know or just gets too much sometimes she didn't do that here
Angela, you look more and more beautiful all the time...millions would want to....omg I forgot what I was going to say ..it was the lyrics in the song, lol. Ok millions would want you to come to them!! Just a comedian from the US here.... hahahahaha 😂
Luke and Holly. Laura had been kidnapped and was missing for a long time. Luke thought she was killed after time went by and Holly entered the scene. Laura escaped the Cassadines and the song "Think of Laura" by Christopher Cross was used for that turn of events.
I don't think James Ingram could sing a bad song. His voice is one of the most soulful ever and his music lives on forever.
Agreed!
This was originally released in 1982 and peaked at #73. A year later the soap opera General Hospital started using it as Luke and Holly's theme song and it shot to #1.
Remember that well
Luke & Laura@@ezekiellove6853
Luke & Laura 💖💖
Great match for a duet. Voices are a perfect fit
One of their best together. Patti Austin has a similar voice to Michael Jackson back in his late teens.
"How do you keep the music playin"
Is Another great duet of james ingram and Patti austin 😍❤🥰
You must listen to it
😘
Yes, we lost James much too soon. I loved his songs. He made the perfect duet partner with any female singer. His soulful voice is amazing. Again, another song I grew up with. Thanks for taking me back to a much warmer time for music. 👍👍
Great song…love it❤️ I sound like a broken record…music was SO much better back then 🙏🏻❤️🔥
Agreed! Songs with melodies sung by gifted singers, session musicians and top notch production.
Stunning duet with these two gorgeous singers! So smooth! ❤❤
Great.I was one of those who suggested this song. Thanks Angela❤
This was certainly one of my favorite songs/duets!!!!! They did another one that was beautiful as well. Can't go wrong with these two.
This song was huge in the early 80's. It was used on the soap opera General Hospital
Nice!!!!
Would love to hear some Luther Vandross and Cherl Lynn singing "If This World Was Mine" and especially Teddy Pendergrass and Stephanie Mills singing "Feel the Fire"
A Quincy Jones production, great duet teaming with background vocal by Michael McDonald.
Brings me back to my 20s and being in love❤
My good friend James Ingram would love your reaction, thanks for playing this great song.. miss him so much, may he continue to RIP.
James Ingram and Patti Austin are two off the best voices every in R&B music. This song was huge!💖💖
"Tonight I Celebrate My Love" Song by Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack, Stacey Lattisaw Johnny Gill "Perfect combination"
Yeah, brings back some memories don't it?
Both James & Patti were seasoned, in-demand studio vocalists. They were able to seamlessly transition from lead vocal to backing vocal - alternating between each other without 1 overshadowing the other. Beautiful voices and masterful vocal control. RIP James Ingram - you are missed! Peace. 🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful song, sensual chorus...and your singing is tops too, Angie! Great reaction x :)
Great song, both are great singers and James Ingram has always been one of my favorites
Great choice Angela. Please consider "On My Own" by Patti Labelle and Michael Mcdonald. One of my favorites and it hit #1 in 1986
On my own was written for Patti Labelle but she said no. She said she will sing it but only with Michael Mcdonald. You the man Michael!
I lived on that song back then!!! Fantastic song!!!
James Ingram always sounds great. Very nice song.
Best part of this classic song and best part of Angela's reaction starts here 3:30 👌❤
I know you love this song your dancing gave it away. Beautiful song! Thanks Angela
i did ask for this in my comments so glad you liked it and its on your phone been on mine for years love your channel by far best on you tube mike from england

Beautiful song ❤️😍❤️❤️
Wow, this song takes back! Baby put my arms around you, come to me.
Beautiful music and beautiful times . Thanks for reacting to this special classic. 😊
One of the greatest duets of all time in my opinion! Amazing song as well!
Love Love Love Patti Austin's voice on this record.
Another Number 1 hit written by Rod "Rock With You" "Thriller" Temperton.
The Genius of the LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Quincy Jones and Mr Rod Temperton
This song lends itself to close sexy dancing...to practicing closeness and moving as one....to keeping love alive and exciting!
She had a really great voice, but there is just something really magical about his voice
Bryan Adams and Tina Turner “It’s Only Love” is a great rocker duet!!! It would be a good one to react to.
Your such a beautiful spirit!!
GREAT SONG ❤
Awesomeness

The song was used for Luke and Holly. Laura was missing and kidnapped by Stavros Cassadine.
Great duet ❤❤❤
Another great one is On My Own Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald. That song is a showcase of two incredible voices
2 legends!!
Most people don't know or realize that Michael McDonald is a backup singer on this track.
Two artists whose voices blend soulfully to produce classic easy listening soul ballads. Neither of them are trying to out sing the other and the flow of Quincy Jones producing brings out the best of their voices on this song. Try listening to How do you keep the music playing 🎤🎵🎶🎼
Another song by the Cleethorpes legend Rod Temperton.
There were lots of duets in this time, and this song is one of my favorites. I wish I had added this to your request of duets, but in the future, consider Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams "Without Us", I'm sure you will love that one!
Yup! The theme song to “Family Ties”
Love this song. If you'll be doing Duets of the 90s, you need to add "Love Is" by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight.
How do I keep the music playing by Patti an James is another great one from them in '82. Also, If this world were mine by Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn is amazing! ('82)
Quincy Jones made some of the best composed music. Thier are some similar chord progressions as the lady in my life Michael Jackson.
Have you heard "One Hundred Ways" by Ingram? The bomb! ( I see that you've done "Just Once", another great one.)

I always have to replay the note @ 2:41 - 2:49. Beautiful.

Two great voices on this one and a really beautiful song. Sadly James is no longer with us-Colin Ward
Angela you loved Heart. Well Ann Wilson of Heart did a duet with Mike Reno called Almost Paradise check it out.
You are a beautiful woman. Class and dignity
Hi Angela, if you like James Ingram try listening to Yah Mo B There where he duets with the great Michael McDonald….two masters.
Try Ingram's duet with Michael Mcdonald - 'Yo ma be there'
Sophisticated and grounded, what a combination!
You know or just gets too much sometimes she didn't do that here
Очень сильная песня!
You also need to react to NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO, a beautiful duet written by Sergio Mendes.
Angela, you look more and more beautiful all the time...millions would want to....omg I forgot what I was going to say ..it was the lyrics in the song, lol. Ok millions would want you to come to them!! Just a comedian from the US here.... hahahahaha 😂
Angela I have such a big crush on you. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Love your reactions.
