Hey Ivan, i recently found your channel as I aspire to attend UCSD or a school with the same likeness for my grad studies. I am only going into my second year of undergrad but I find you channel to be helpful. Keep it up man
Hi Ivan, thank you for sharing these great SoPs. You are obviously doing a great job. I am interested in knowing how I can use my professional experience to increase my chances of getting into a PhD. I have worked as the head of a food Microbiology lab, a tutor in a college and a food Manufacturing consultant for about 9 years now. I, however, want to transition in biosciences and contribute to Cancer research. Some tips, please?
The only research experience I have is my undergrad project which was wide and not particularly related to cancer research, though contained the analysis of some carcinogenic food addtives
Hi! This is a hard question to answer in one comment. I would have to see your SOP to give you pointed feedback. But in a nutshell, you should be describing your experiences with a research lens in mind. You need to show the committee that you understand or have a vague understanding of the research process and you need to show them why you are pursuing a PhD. I recommend identifying gaps in your knowledge and skills and use that info to describe how a PhD will help you fill those gaps and impact the field.
Hi Ivan, i'll be graduating next May with my Master's in Actuarial Science and is currently applying for PhD programs. I don't have any research experience since my current program is a Master's by coursework. How do I write an exceptional SOP?
Hi! This is a great question and I will answer it fully in an upcoming UA-cam video. In short, you need to think about how your experiences relate to the research process and speak about that in your statement of purpose. Every student has research experience the only difference is that sometimes it’s formal and other times it is not. If you want more directed support with crafting your SOP, I offer a statement of purpose review service. Here is the link: www.fiverr.com/s/NVVKgQ?CopyLink_Mobile I am also in the process of launching a synchronized course where I teach about crafting a SOP through live lectures. My Shopify store will be up and running soon. Good luck with your applications!
Hi Ivan, i am applying to Cornell but my program requires that I write a personal statement and an SOP. Do I still need to state the program I intend to study in my introduction for the Personal statement?
The personal statement and SOP have different purposes so you don’t need to state the program in the personal statement because it should be different from the SOP. Theres a lot that goes into a personal statement that I can’t type sorry.
Hi Ivan, thanks for your tips and tricks. I have a doubt. Should SOP contain name of a professor with whom candidate wishes to pursue PhD ? Only one name or multiple faculty's names?
I have a video on this topic. But I earn around 32,000 for 9 months. I work 20 hours per week as a graduate student researcher and get my tuition paid for as well.

Hi Ivan, Is it necessary to contact professors before submitting application? What if a candidate failed to do so?
It is not required. You won’t get any advantage for doing so.
Sir, please share statement of purpose for PhD chemistry
I have a lot of new science SOP coming up. Make sure to subscribe.
Hi Ivan, thanks for your tips and tricks. I have a doubt. Should SOP contain name of a professor with whom candidate wishes to pursue PhD ? Only one name or multiple faculty's names?
You should definitely mention 2-3 faculty whose research closely matches your interests.
Thank you Ivan for your time.
can you post the SOP you read from?
Sorry I can’t.
