I feel like those of us in warmer states (like south Texas) really miss out on this restful season. We can, most of these winter months, continue on like nothing is amiss. We usually have the AC running at Christmas gatherings. We never slow down during these months and I don’t think that’s a good thing…..

Love the outdoor date night. My husband and I do that alot actually we have a fire pit in our backyard that becomes a magical place when the fire is crackling and we have time to sit an talk . I definitely feel the same about "spring" cleaning in winter. I feel more motivated to clean and de clutter our home in winter. By spring, I'm itching to spend more of my days outside in the garden and on walks; I don't want to be cooped up inside while the world is coming alive 🌱🧺

I agree with you. I prefer to do my decluttering and “spring cleaning” in the winter. I find that I’m more energized and motivated in the cloudy, rainy, cold and dark days. I hate the spring and summer heat here in Texas, so I tend to be more drained during the hot months. Anyhow, loved this video, as I do all of your videos. ❤
When I saw your doggie just laying by the fire , it reminded me of my late "Peaches" who passed a year ago in September! I wish i could say we have a wood burning stove, we don't, but she would lay by the electric heater we have. My comfort is that I live in my mother-in-law's old home that my husband renovated. It is cozy, old, wooden floors, and we kept the original footprint, just brought it a new life! It is small, but it is just right!

I am familiar with winter, we live in north east Michigan. Not far from Lake Huron and when the winds blow off the lake it gets extremely cold and blowsy. That is lovely. "The Art of winter!" My husband used to say "The art of doing nothing" for years and years (and we used to run a podcast a decade ago where we talked about it) and now I see it being tossed around. I think the "art of winter" will allow for myself to enjoy it better, as it is my least favorite season. I think it is so important to rest, as I feel that is a bit of what we are to do in the winter time. Most people are rushing around this time of year too. Reading "The Long Winter" is perfect for this time of year. I do December decluttering too, so I can start the new year fresh (granted I don't have much left to declutter anymore). Oh man, it must be so warm in your home with the fire there. Also, not sure if you check your IG messages, as I am sure you get a lot, but I once asked if colostrum is safe for nursing moms to drink. Now I ask the same about collagen peptides too. Your chickens are so loved and it is so cute.
Colostrum is very safe so long as you aren't specifically allergic to it, but most people can take it and thrive on it. Collagen peptides are also very safe.
Thank you!!!! I've started the tradition of choosing a word from God at the beginning of each year to focus on, and funny how the word "discomfort" has already come up for me to focus on for 2024. I know I need to learn to sit better with discomfort and still focus on the areas where I'm still deficient for2023's word. I've also allowed myself to slow down this past fall instead of rushing everywhere all the time. It's been an extraordinary blessing. Thank you for another beautiful video! I love winter. Fall is first, then winter. I love summer for all the gardens and flowers. Just don't love the heat and humidity where I live. Lol. I am entering the winter of my life. When I was young I detested the cold and winter. As I have gotten older I have embraced it and look forward to it each year. Like you it gives me time to focus on so much I ignored during spring and summer. Plus I can rewind and renew as well.

I stopped working last May, and knowing that the pressure is off me to be at a job when the weather is bad or roads are dangerous, is such a relief and a blessing. And, my body doesn't do all the things it used to do, in the amount of time I used to do them 😂 So, knowing that I can just be indoors and rest is a joy. If it's too cold or too snowy, I'll just reschedule that appointment or go to Walmart another day. There's something to be said for getting older. Thanks again ❤

Love the outdoor date night. My husband and I do that alot actually we have a fire pit in our backyard that becomes a magical place when the fire is crackling and we have time to sit an talk . Yes a cozy warm drink (hot tea, Coco, or coffee I'm in) ❤ thank you for the moments you give to others. It is visually an mentally beautiful an comforting.

I definitely feel the same about "spring" cleaning in winter. I feel more motivated to clean and de clutter our home in winter. By spring, I'm itching to spend more of my days outside in the garden and on walks; I don't want to be cooped up inside while the world is coming alive 🌱🧺

I agree with you. I prefer to do my decluttering and “spring cleaning” in the winter. I find that I’m more energized and motivated in the cloudy, rainy, cold and dark days. I hate the spring and summer heat here in Texas, so I tend to be more drained during the hot months. Anyhow, loved this video, as I do all of your videos. ❤

When I saw your doggie just laying by the fire , it reminded me of my late "Peaches" who passed a year ago in September! I wish i could say we have a wood burning stove, we don't, but she would lay by the electric heater we have. My comfort is that I live in my mother-in-law's old home that my husband renovated. It is cozy, old, wooden floors, and we kept the original footprint, just brought it a new life! It is small, but it is just right!

I am familiar with winter, we live in north east Michigan. Not far from Lake Huron and when the winds blow off the lake it gets extremely cold and blowsy. That is lovely. "The Art of winter!" My husband used to say "The art of doing nothing" for years and years (and we used to run a podcast a decade ago where we talked about it) and now I see it being tossed around. I think the "art of winter" will allow for myself to enjoy it better, as it is my least favorite season. I think it is so important to rest, as I feel that is a bit of what we are to do in the winter time. Most people are rushing around this time of year too.
Reading "The Long Winter" is perfect for this time of year.
I do December decluttering too, so I can start the new year fresh (granted I don't have much left to declutter anymore).

Colostrum is very safe so long as you aren't specifically allergic to it, but most people can take it and thrive on it. Collagen peptides are also very safe.

Thank you!!!! I've started the tradition of choosing a word from God at the beginning of each year to focus on, and funny how the word "discomfort" has already come up for me to focus on for 2024. I know I need to learn to sit better with discomfort and still focus on the areas where I'm still deficient for2023's word. I've also allowed myself to slow down this past fall instead of rushing everywhere all the time. It's been an extraordinary blessing. Thank you for another beautiful video! I am entering the winter of my life. When I was young I detested the cold and winter. As I have gotten older I have embraced it and look forward to it each year. Like you it gives me time to focus on so much I ignored during spring and summer. Plus I can rewind and renew as well.

Loved this video Lea!! The format was great, and I appreciated the time with you and James. I'm looking forward to winter for the first time in a long time. I stopped working last May, and knowing that the pressure is off me to be at a job when the weather is bad or roads are dangerous, is such a relief and a blessing. And, my body doesn't do all the things it used to do, in the amount of time I used to do them 😂 So, knowing that I can just be indoors and rest is a joy. If it's too cold or too snowy, I'll just reschedule that appointment or go to Walmart another day. There's something to be said for getting older. Thanks again ❤
