Yeah! This one’s an all time rad pizza sleepover classic. Weekend skateboarding and gaming with friends. This was in the line up with nba jam, sonic 2 and mortal combat 2. The year was 1994. I was in the 6th grade. Life was awesome!🐸🍺🔪🔥

For me, there's truly no other game like *Earthworm Jim.* It's this pure '90s gross-out, sci-fi toonfest with an aesthetic that can't quite be recaptured. Used to mess around with the sprites in Phototshop a lot back in my teens; making battle scenes, funny bits and actually appreciating the level designs, 'cos they actually pretty intuitive when you look at them as a whole. Also, *Level 5* is still the coolest and most unsettling stage in the game, hands down. Aside from loving Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, there's just something particularly creepy about the enemies - They're sort of faceless and humourless compared to the others.
as someone who played BOTH the Genesis and the SNES version growing up (I had a Genesis and relatives had a SNES and we both owned EWJ 1 and 2) I will say that the soundtrack on the SNES sounds "better" because there was more variation in instrumentation (Level 5/Down the Tubes being an exception, the Genesis version is probably the standout for the whole game) but the actual sound effects were better on the the Genesis. I don't know if it was a memory issue or something, but for some reason the SNES version is just missing a lot of effects (such as Jim saying "Oh yeah!" when you grab a continue, or the title screen posing being completely voiced in the Genesis and the SNES version just...not). Weirdly enough, they kind of fixed that for EWJ2 as the title screen bit with Jim playing accordion for Princess What's-her-name only plays one pitch on the Genesis and for the SNES port it actually changes pitch. Ports are weird
