When Sabaton does a song about an historic event, you know that they have done the reserch to make the lyrics as historically accurate as possible. It would be a scandal otherwise, their fans would come down on them like a ton of bricks.
To complement their music, they have Sabaton history channel here on UA-cam. There they deep dive into the historic event that their song is about. If you would like to see another epic video from Sabaton, see Bismarck or their Motörhead cover on the song 1916.
Of course it is a true story, it´s Sabaton and they always tell it the way it happened but never taking sides. With a few exceptions like "The rise of evil"
Keep em coming brother, each Sabaton vid is a history lesson.Start with the animated ones maybe, and keep em running till the end, tons of facts and Easter eggs there.Great reaction, you got yourself a new subscriber 👊🎅
Welcome, and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Sabaton are some of the world's most awesome history teachers. Please continue! Chriso has some amazing suggestions for you, and I will third (um, fourth? Umpteenth?) the recommendation to check out their history channel if you like. Cheers and all the best from the middle of Canada!
I love Sabaton purely because of the power that each song gives off. Each song is a wave of energy and power that threatens to engulf you. ~ This song really showed the beauty of the Christmas Truce. How they put down their weapons and enjoyed Christmas together. no war, no weapons, no violence, just HAPPINESS AND PEACE ~ 🕊️🏳️☮️✌🏼 Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thank You Dave. Merry Christmas.🎄 Glad you liked this. This is indeed based on a true story in WW I. Yep, from Sweden. Most of their songs (9 of 10 albums) are about Military History. The band has their own history channel, at least 1 episode for every song, where they explore the history behind the music. Formed in 1999 in Falun, lead singer Joakim Broden and bassist Par Sundstrom (at the cross at the end) are the primary songwriters, and the only original members. Drummer Hannes van Dahl (first soldier out of the trenches) joined in 2014, he is married to Floor from Nightwish, that's her on the end credit vocals. First out of the trenches on the other side is guitarist Chris Rorland, he joined in 2012. And the battle field solo is by former guitarist Tommy Johansson (2016-2024), Guitarist Thobbe Englund (2012-2016) has now returned to replace Tommy. Song was released in Dec 2021, it is the lead single from the 2022 10th album, The War To End All Wars. Most songs fall into metal/power metal, but Joakim has said this one is actually a waltz. It is a movie, made by people who usually do make movies, but had time for this when the world shut down. If you would like to check out more from them, suggest "Bismarck" or any of the animated story videos : "No Bullets Fly", "Night Witches", "The Lady of the Dark". "The Red Baron", and "The First Soldier"
great reaction, more Sabaton please. Sabaton is a Swedish band with a loooong list of history based music. Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 120 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) . Yes, an actual event of WWI. Sabaton does all historically accurate songs about history. I call them the History metal band. Recommend songs Bismarck, No Bullets Fly, and Night Witches
Thank you for reaction 👍and Merry Xmas! Her Highness, Floor Jansen of Nightwish, sang the title vocals. Hannes -- the concussed blond soldier -- is Hannes van Dahl, Sabaton's drummer. Floor Jansen is his wife. ••• PEACES!!!
As it's the 80 anniversary of the WW2 Battle of the Bulge you should do their song "Screaming Eagles " about the 101st Airborne during that battle n 1944/45
It is based on real things that happened in the beginning of First World War. (So not in the Second World War as you were speculating in the reaction.) It was not official but at some parts of the front line it really happened locally between opponents on first and second Christmas of the First World War i.e. 1914 and 1915, although latter year already much less. War of course continued 1916 and 1917, but the fighting had got so bitter that no such unofficial local truces anymore happened. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_truce
yeah, historical Accuracy with good soundtrack is their thing, and in this and several other videos they have managed to cram more storytelling and substance than all too many full sized Holywood productions,.
WW1, true story. The football match in no-mans land is legendary.

They did their homework on this one. As always.

It only happened that first year . The generals on both sides made dammn sure it didn't happen again.
