Straight job by these guitar masters. A standard tune but also quite extraordinary with this top line-up. With Charlie Byrd and his brother Joe Byrd on bass
The DVD series is called 'The Legends of Jazz Guitar'' There are 3 volumes & all 3 are great. I have seen them on Ebay used & new. In one of the clips Joe Byrd does a little solo on that Ovation hollowbody bass, the tone he gets is fantastic ... cheers !
I just changed the info, the bros are added to it. Could you give me a hint what could be the best of those (commercial available) DVD's you're talking about with Charlie and Joe participating, I might be interested....
At 6:54, near the end of the current chorus, it seemed to me like Tal looks over at Barney to let him know he's done soloing, then Charlie picked up on that -- But I could be wrong....
Tony Lombardo Don’t try to be the wise guy to me. If I’d used the full line up, the textline would be cut off due length limitations. If you ‘open’ the extra info, you’ll see I’ve really mentioned their names! 🤔🙄😡
The chord work of Barney Kessel is amazing
No hay que olvidar al maestro Charlie Byrd
I'm not going to say one is better than the other because they are not. All three are incredible guitar players!!!!
The actual title of the song is "Things Ain't What They Used To Be".
Ain't that the truth!
I grandi della chitarra jazz. Vi adoro alla follia !!!!!!
Great talent; I miss them all, though I did not know any of them personally. Never saw Tal Farlow in person; I did see Mr Kessel and Mr. Byrd perform.
And the inimitable Charlie Byrd
Maravillosos momentos, volvi a mi juventud y adolescencia.
Esto es una Obra de Arte Musical. Gracias por compartir.
splendid !!!!
Grandi chitarristi e grandi personalità.
Tal!!! Ufff
Wow!
very cool ; )
It is byrd indeed with his brother on the bass
Belle brochette de guitaristes, avec chacun son style!
I do remember meeting and talking with Tal. Those records he made with Charlie Mingus and Red Norvo were fantastic.
Classe super unici

I hated that too! Tal's my favorite of all time, was a nice guy too...
Thanks ... I have seen on a couple DVD's I have, but they don't give him any credit on them.

And a young Chuck Redd on drums.
Predecessors to "Great Guitars"
Are there any questions?
Does anyone know who the bass player is?
hahahaha sick red kicks kessel
who's guitar #3? great clip too - thanks!
On the left is Barney Kessel , in the middle Tal Farlow and on the right Charlie Byrd
It's Joe Byrd, Charlies brother
It think it is Charlie Byrd. Gene, his brother, was bass player.
@tarunx60 Tal Farlow

I agree. That's why it's important to pay attention :)
Tal farllow is tal nothing else JUST jazz

The title of the song is wrong, and the name “Charlie Byrd” is nowhere to be found in your video title.

Geepereet Get it right.
Tal Farlow is just being too kind here - I will say no more. . .
Change the title already!
