- Carolyn Rodriguez was sent to the hospital due to the injuries she sustained during the arrest. She was also jailed and faces multiple charges.
If no good cop steps in and stops it, there is no good cops.
Evil can only exist, when good people do nothing..
Good cops can't exist when bad cops break the law daily. They have to make a choice to stay a good cop and report them, or become a bad cop and say nothing.
It's sad how the 99% of bad cops reflect poorly on them all.
Their own Code of Conduct states every officer has a 'Duty to Intervene' if they see another officer act illegally or with inappropriate force.

The best practice to deal with 1st amendment auditors is to stop violating the 1st amendment. This isn't hard.
Believe me I get why people think its necessary to film police. There have been too many excessive use of force complaints and corruption in police departments throughout the country. But if your job is to be a personal nuisance and annoy the police and get in there way I have no respect for what you do. The woman clearly was trying to provoke the police. The police need to not allow themselves to be provoked and they failed miserably in this instance. But she needs to stop harassing people doing their jobs and just film and keep her mouth shut.

The best auditors I have ever seen are the ones who literally never spoke a word in their videos. It showed that not talking to police is your best bet, as I haven't seen any of the silent auditors actually get arrested. That being said, police who can be so easily provoked are still definitely a problem. And in that regard, I have seen quite a few great interactions from police who had a clear understanding of what the auditor motivations are, and were able to maintain professional and constitutional standards.

It was reported elsewhere that this officer has a bad record and was fired from I believe they said fort worth. His record had multiple excessive force investigations but instead of reporting him that way he couldnt be an officer elsewhere or at all they simply just fired him.

The problem with that is they aren't different, they are citizens as well. Being an officer does not remove you from being a citizen, or remove you from the responsibility of proper behavior in society.

She was recording the cops (not even him - she was trying to talk to two female cops who were just strolling back and forth doing nothing) when the attacker approached her, yelled at her - told her to move, and when she tried to ask why, he slammed her to the ground and sent her to the hospital. They are going to hold that footage as long as possible. The biggest reason, is because they (the cops) can't get their narrative to fit with it. And it gives the cop that slammed her to the ground a chance to resign before being fired.

One consolation to being charged is that the body cam footage is part of discovery and must be disclosed. To hide it they will have to dismiss the charges.they won't go to trial without it because, otherwise, her video is the best evidence of the events.

1) The Severity of the Crime. That was as low as it can possibly be.
2) The Immediacy of the Threat. There was no threat at all.
3) Actively Resisting Arrest. Not at all. Verbally questioning is not resisting.

@zackpack8please understand the consequences of saying "qualified immunity isn't an actual law." I acknowledge that it was part of a judicial ruling not a Bill in Congress, but so too was the 2A right of self defence. It was SCOTUS that extended the citizen's right to defend oneself and others to exist within the 2nd Amendment, where it, clearly, isn't written. If one is valid and binding, so is the other.
It's not only legal but Encouraged. Cops get obscene amounts of tax Funding and they know they have near complete immunity from the law. And don't forget how mass media Loves to portray cops as 'heroes'.

Why do police always say they're committed to openness and transparency right before saying you'll have to submit a FOIA request before you can find out anything? Then, by the time your request has been processed, their "internal investigation" shows the officer(s) did nothing wrong?
