This version you did is actually very popular now. Before I watched this version I already saw this work of art on the internet many times and even some scp fan games use this version of the regular 173 because of copyright problems or something with the original. It’s really nice seeing the creation of this piece since I’ve already seen it so many times!

Well on your theory of the door, it's usually a large room with a automatic blast door, and he tends to stick around the walls for no specific reason. The surveillance cameras would usually be able to direct the janitors to where the SCP is. Not trying to be a devils advocate and shut down your argument, just saying that most SCPs don't have swing open doors, if any

Leserolith It get annoyed and abuses your lack of depth perception when seeing out of one eye. It treats its whole chase after you as a "game", and you blinking with only one eye at a time is considered cheating.
Leserolith No, 173 sees this as cheating. SCP-173 is playing a game with his prey, it's a fucked up game of cat-and-mouse.
Plus, have you tried doing that? it doesn't keep you eyes moist.
Borodante, that's definitely a great piece of art. To answer one of your questions regarding how you are supposed to know where SCP-173 is when you enter a room. Some rooms in the game itself will have pivoting camera that will show SCP-173s location relative to the doors. It won't kill you from looking at it on the cameras and blinking, but will move. If it has the ability to open the door (non-airlock), you might survive blinking a couple of times until it comes into direct range in which case it can get you.
One thing that catches a lot of people off-guard in the game is when they either they first enter and don't see it in the corner and they will enter, but since not looking at it will get killed. As long as your first sight of SCP-173 is right when you come into viewing distance, you will be fine. However, since it can move and open doors (strange right?), if you are facing away from it when it enters a room, you will also instantly die. Really kind of a dangerous SCP. Kind of surprised it is classified Euclid class (less dangerous) not categorized as Keter class (extremely dangerous).
To give you an idea what I am talking about, got this link from Battleforge .Games. He is confronted by SCP-173 when running into the next room since it was hiding down the hallway to his right.

I actually really like this design a lot more than the iconic picture. I think it stays truer to the raw description and doesnt use the art of someone who didn't intend for it to be linked with a spooky neck snapping statue.
While it does imply that it would stand (scraping is heard in the cell sometimes) this design is actually really cool, and the floating aspect does make it more spooky. Great work!

Being there. I don't think it's because we are girls, I think it's because of personality and the influence of the series and comics that we consume. So, what I did to change that it's basically doing studies of creepy things, and really thinking in what it's the thing that makes them creepy. For example, some times it's just adding more wrinkles, the texture or don't using saturated colors.
What I want to say is that as well as you can't paint hands without learning how to (doing studies and stuff), you can't paint creepy things without learning how to. Some people have more intuition about it just because they have more experience from what they watch (movies, comics, series) or whatever.
I love when people create their own designs for characters/creatures, it's quite fascinating:)

In a world where giant indestructible lizards and people from the bible exist I don't think it's out of the question for something to slide around and snap people's necks through means that we don't know of.
They dont open any doors, theres a big door and the people behind the machinery room open it for cleaning,testing etc.

I don't this you understand, her let me clear the mud. When the three people enter the room, not all people HAVE to look. As long as one person maintains eye contact it can warp to a new location. It is kinda like weeping angels. One person can keep it from moving and blink one eye at a time while someone can be turn around or sleeping. It is called cheating the system!

Although this has SOME tactical design as a possibility for another statue similar to SCP 173, I encourage you to not draw alternate designs of SCP 96.

To answer your question, the prisoners don't enter through a door. As seen in the game, they enter through a type of large garage door covering up almost the entire wall.

Your version of 173 looks like someone in one of those big bulky spacesuits nevertheless your design for it is really unique and fitted well with your style of artwork. I also find you adding the rebar to attach the arms to the main body of the SCP because originally it was just one big thing of concrete with no visible rebar. Great job man!

The way I interpretate SCP-173, is that it's a symbol for urban decay and decadence. It's made of concrete and spraypainted, which could represent run-down city buildings and sketchy alleys in poor urban areas, which also often are spraypainted. The shit and blood could represent all the dirt and lack of hygiene in big urban areas, everybody who went to a big metropolian area once in their lives (or god beware, lives there) knows the stench of some areas. The fact that it's killing you, when not looking, could symbolize the idea that you always have to be aware and on the look-out in urban areas. Urban crime, random acts of violence, muggings, robberies, rape, and murder are common fears of people living in cities, or people traveling sketchy areas. So you have to ALWAYS be aware, and look out for potential threats.
One of my new favorite series! I love how you don't just draw the thing in a time-lapse, you actually talk through it. Plus, the art is really cool!

Very entertaining, made me smile. One observation ... there’s a reason why buckets are usually round. Carrying water in square buckets make the water splash out , with round buckets the water swirls around when carried and remains in the bucket, avoiding splashing and splattering. This is not the case with square buckets. So in this particular scene, good luck to the guy cleaning the faeces (sh_t) when he finishes and attempts to carry the slop out of the room ;-) ... just sayin’ ...
