The more I see Mick Mars in interviews, the more I like him.
it's Micks words & Actions, while you have 3 fuck ups in the Band he was the only one who Never got into any Trouble. and many people respect him for that as well as his Guitar playing.
He is like my grandpa.
MetalHeart8787 I’m not quite sure that’s true, the Dirt didn’t quite portray Mick like he was
See decade of decadence
He tells it how it is... no bullshit
Mick: "we're nuber 1 again...cool!" Mick is really cool!
First ballad that made me bawl... THAT OPENING PIANO. NO CELL PHONES!
it just shows how chemistry makes all the difference in the world....these 4 guys combined just made it special, certainly more talented musicians/bands in the hair metal scene just together the motley boys are pure gold.
SPECIAL NEEDS MAYBE
Tommy picked up a fkn piano?! That’s amazing!!
He must work out. Lol.
cocaine helped a lot probably
"Keep Your Eye on The Money" is a damn good tune
The whole album is fuckin badass
Theatre of pain I was going into 5th grade and my best friend who lived three houses over and across the street we would blast the tape in my ghetto blaster every day that summer of 85. Great times.
Will Grello them were the days I miss them
Same here. Same age. Summer of 85 got a Sony Walkman for bday. Older cousins and their friends got me a bunch of tapes, some mixed. Theater of Pain and Ratt Out of the Cellar were two I..well hell I still listen to them. Great times.
Bobby Adderall wish I could go back seems like a whole different world now. Rock on friend.
@@curtmccabe8890 it is a different world. Those golden years are long gone. Instead of rock n roll, all we have now is rap, hip hop, boy bands, and pop artists. And MTV is just reruns of reality TV starring a bunch of beach bimbos and no talents.
Keep your eye on the money is very underrated in this catalogue. Good memories.
"Again?? Again?? We're number one again?! Cool."
Damn, Mick is awesome!
Vince talks about Nikki's od and Nikki talks about Vince's car accident. Neither one mentions their own mistakes. Maybe just the way they edited but no secret that they didn't like each other in there at some point.
.
Yeah that was so weird. I think the editor somehow confused them as talking about the same thing. Interviews like this are transcribed and edited on paper first, so it could be the context of their comments about tragedy got lost on the editors.
Naw, they don't like being accountable for their actions. Sixx wrote in his book he had sex with a girl and passed her off onto Tommy making her believe it was still sixx. Then he says it was embellished. Then he says, afraid of a rape charge, that it never happened. All throughout their careers each of them blamed the other guy. During the 80's they did a campaign just say no to drugs while still using. They'll say yes, I did this....but it's to make money. When speaking candidly about themselves, they hold back.
I agree that they never Really stood to their mistakes but there was a Time where Nikki and Vince were actually Really Good Friends as described in their book. It was about the Time Vince came back to Mötley Crüe
Actually Tommy was 17 back in 81 and that was the same year MTV and Motley formed. Most people a 17 year old still a kid so....
Brandonio Granger he was born in 1962 so would of been 18 in 1981 and turned 19 that year
Mtv first day of broadcasting was August 1st 1981 I believe from my knowledge, no Google , mind memory, I'm sure if I'm wrong the "Internet Cheaters" will correct me.
1st video The Bugles 'Video Killed the radio star'
2nd vid- Pat Benatar 'You better run' I was 7 years old.
Theatre of Pain, was the first album I ever got and it was a Christmas present, it was and is such a great album. All the guitar solos I new by heart and were so great and memorable and fitted the songs perfectly.
Nothin like a good rock ballad. Don't get me wrong, love to rock hard too but there's just something about throwing a pretty ballad in there once in a while #homesweethome
MY FAVORITE SONG FROM MOTLEY CRUE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸🎸🎸😈😁!
I don't see why Theatre of Pain is considered to be such a turd, I think it's pretty wicked overall.
The Royal Flush 1778 ok boomer
Sam Kopal Hey guys I said Ok boomer every one laugh
Theater of pain was my intro to motley crue and my mothers answer to... how do I help my son thru these turbulent years of childhood abuse from my pops....
This album saved me
Right? Theater of Pain is so overlooked. But being sandwiched between two masterpieces like Shout At The Devil and Girls Girls Girls definitely didn't help.
Amazing vocals, incredibly creative acoustic and electric guitar..... What a genre defining band.
Vapin in the gender neutral bathroom.
Glad to see you're realistic.
Lmaooooo
Bet it sounds really weird when someone bursts out laughing in the bathroom!🤣
Ugh, vaping. Most disgusting thing ever.
😂😂
Louder than Hell is the best song on that album.
"Some like violence, some like submission, some uses aggression, SOME USE A BULLET IN THE HEAD TO BE BRAVE!"
Agree
Agree. But Home Sweet Home and City Boy Blues are awesome too
Loud as Hell, City Boy Blues, Home Sweet Home, Use it or Lose it and Keep Your Eye on the Money...I dont get it why this album is not liked as much as others. I think its a solid album
I agree! Originally titled Hotter than Hell
@@tombouchard9606 hi Tom I have Bouchard relatives my mom's maiden name. Where are you from? Nice to see another Crue Head!
I gotta say that I LOVE "Danger" "City Boy Blues" and "Keep Your Eye on the Money" You guys may have been drugged up (mostly) but these to me are GREAT tracks too! Thank you!!!
These interviews are so much better than the movie because its about the music.
I had tickets to that European tour that got cancelled b/c of Nikki's od. When I purchased the tickets I had no idea who the opening band was, some new group called Guns and Roses. A year later everyone knew who they were. I would have loved to see that concert.
My favourite Crüe's álbum!
Keep your eye on the money, Louder than hell, Fight for your rigth, Save our soul...so dam powerfull!
💄🎸🤘
Classic, may God bless each of you and your families!
The fact they made it through.... to today is just a credit to the four of them! Tragedy took its toll! And yet they are still standing! I tilt my hat! 🎩. Mick fascinates me! Never shows 💯 % of himself! Always keeps ya guessing man!
Lol at tommy Mtv came out in 81 same year as to fast for love. He was sort of kid.
Roger B
To be fair, Tommy is still kind of a kid at 60something.
Like minded think alike...... I thought the same shit. I even broke out my calculator to see how old he was when MTV started. haha
Roger B I mean him being 50 looking back at 20 you think you are a kid.
No idea why they dislike this album. My second favorite, behind only SATD.
Tommy, you were never a "little kid watching MTV"....maybe in your mind !! LOL
motley crue best band ever
donald quinley with John Corabi yes with Vince no
city boy blues is good too...
Such an epic song
How could Tommy Lee have been a little kid watching MTV? It started in 1981! Motley Crue's first album was released in 1981!
well...tommy was 19 years old when mtv was launched....and i guess 4 years later....they Theatre of pain...and i guess....when he looks back at it...he was a little kid when he was 19 years old...and dreaming about getting on that Mtv show...
Still have my ticket stub and tour program from this concert. Which was at the LA Forum. With the band Loudness opening up for them. I also have the first on air interview with the band about this album recorded on cassette tape.
ZBlacktt Loudness was awesome.
ROCKNROLL CRAZY NIGHTS
MOTLEY CRUE "THE ROCK N ROLL BAND"
Tommy says that he remembers being a little kid and watching MTV, never dreaming that a song of his would be on there as the number 1 video. In reality, when Tommy Lee was a kid, there was no MTV. MTV Started while those guys were selling their Too Fast For Love album. Maybe that's what he was talking about, who knows...
I love u guys n ur. Music. Is great
yeahhhhhh...crueeeee..... forever
These guys are also old are ready but they're still rocking alive
Ha aka “Vince Meal”
My first concert. Theatre of Pain tour 1985 with special guest Loudness.
Set the bar pretty high, right from the start.
can't believe Vince feels that way about TOP. Dancing On Glass and Louder are great songs. I like smoking the least out of all the songs on that album.
7judas77 dancing on glass is on girls girls girls
who
Thanks! :)
JOURNEY are the kings of the power ballad!
Gotta agree I am a huge crue ran but open arms came out before home sweet home
My fav álbum
I know 'Theater of Pain' has a bad reputation, but I think there are some great songs on there.
When he said broke I think he meant broke barriers and took them to a whole new level, because that was their massive chart success at the time.
I remember when MTV actually played music videos. I'm old.
i remember when we got MTV when it flipped on home sweet home was the first video i saw
I remember voting for this video on MTV Friday Night Video Fights. And then the rule they had to put in place with a time limit because as they said they never lost for 14 weeks.
But MTV invoked the 30 day "Crue Rule" after the video topped the top ten daily request chart for 14 weeks. I don't recall HSH on Friday Night Video Fights but you may be right,
They got a bit of the Girls3 era in here when Vince is talking about the European tour and Nikki's OD...
MTV did not exist when Tommy "was a little kid". He's 56 years old. Funny.
dennis m that’s exactly what I thought
ooh I see, thank you! :)
I liked that album city boy blues I think Mick said he really liked it to more blues
I bought Shout at the Devil and Scorpions Love at First Sting on record at the same time.
What is Tommy talking about watching MTV as a little kid? MTV came out in 81', they were not little kids anymore. xD
I followed the Crüe since 81 or 85 I think
Save Our Souls & Tonight (We Need A Lover) are fucking underrated songs off that record.
Bizzare...i loved T.O.P when i was a kid. It was my summer vacation album. But i actually love it more now. DANGER FROM SHOUT I FORGOT ALL ABOUT. FUCK THAT SONG IS SOOOOO FUCKING SICK.
yeah, could be!
It's My favorit song
Instead of City Boy Blues and Save Our Souls they should've recorded Run for your Life and Running Wild in the Night and kept them intact. Include Sinners & Saints and Stick to Your Guns and all of a sudden it's a pretty damn good album.
Because that's was the song that broke them into mainstream
Why are they showing the rerecord video????? thats not the one that made it big on MTV.
I actually really like theatre of pain
it's my favorite one. Doesn't sound like the band would agree though haha
I think that Tommy Lee got a little mixed up. How could it be that he was a little kid watching MTV?
August 1, 1981 is when MTV debuted. Tommy would have been 18 (almost 19). There were videos before MTV but not a lot of outlets for the general public to see them.
I would say a 40-something man saying that he watched MTV as a kid being 18 would be correct.
ändrew Salter not in this interview he wasnt.
ha ha I was wondering about that too
@ändrew Salter Tommy turned 53 in 2012
When HOME SWEET HOME hit the air everyone needed a ballade to hang with there girlfriend. So the Crue fans had theres it was the hardest slow tune that every one played and was ok to play it and still be cool.
I Love theater of pain, didn't listen to it until 1986. I like this biography BUT they didn't talk about How & why they changed from studs & leather to that Glam Look. yes I read years ago that Nikki said we change from album to album but he didn't ever explain it fully.
Home sweet home on Shout at the Devil would have been a disaster. Good on Nikki for excluding it
Matthew Trippe wrote Home sweet home!
Speaking of underrated -
I always felt “ GLITTER “ was also a very deep and awesome song that never really gets any credit ...
STIK
Rude Awakening
Glitter is a fabulous song
Q lindo es Niki
I never could get into Theatre of Pain. Matter of fact I didnt get into Girls girls girls either . I love Wildside. & Kickstart , checked out rest of album, sorta lame, but i was heavily into the Metal scene at that time. - ALSO.... The very first time I saw Home sweet home OR Smokin ......was V32 & it was like Tommy said .... on Rotate, probably 6 times or more per day everyday
I like it loud was a pretty cool tune. Louder than hell, scuse me.
Like it right
well vince i can name em all. matter fact i liked all the rest better than smokin' and home sweet home. tonight (we need a lover) being my absolute fav.
Saw Shout tour in detroit w/ Saxon saw Theatre tour on Wisconsin w/ Loudness Nikki was really fucked up and just ran around pounding on his basslol
#drugs...love the #crue
I dont know why they talk so down on that album. I love every song on it. Louder than Hell is a beast of a track.
Me too. Love 'em all. I think it has to do with the bad times they were going through. A bad time that they would like to forget, including the making of ToP.
Tommy Lee has got his dates wrong, the band started the same year as MTV. He says he watched it as a kid.
I know! That was weird that he said that.
Not a big fan of this album, but Mick's guitar tones we're amazing on this album.
Same the only song I liked in the album is smokin in the boys room
haha thanks for your answer! ;D
Hate the rerecord version with the "real piano" .
The original on Theater of Pain is the perfect
Not sure what you are talkin about, The Original song has a Real Piano on it, that's how it was Recorded.
Louder than hell?! How you gonna forget about that song
Just a brilliant track from start to finish, I don't give a fuck what anyone says. Sixx nailed it, really is their Dream On, end of story.
I think Styx come sail away was first power ballad style
I feel like an idiot rn. I can’t remimber the name of the song they first played in this video
I never thought ToP was a bad album at all. Sure, quite a sea change from Shout at the Devil, but not in a bad way. In fact, taken as a whole, I found it better than Girls, Girls, Girls.
I actually like theater of pain. Granted it’s not their best, but it’s not as bad as everyone says
Bs. City boy blues and louder than hell were just as good as home sweet home and smoking in the boys room
I've always heard the band thinks Theater Of Pain is a terrible record. I think it's pretty good. Not as good as some of the others but its still good
Scorpions did power ballads before Motley Crue.
Yeah no offense there Mick but the first hard rock power ballad or metal power balled is credited to Nazareth with the song "Love hurts" many metal bands used that formula afterwards. First Hard rock ballad that got the most notoriety has to be stairway to heaven.
Stairway isn't really a ballad.
@@POOKIE5592 Yea, Stairway To Heaven went pretty hard towards the end. Home Sweet Home stayed consistent.
Josh I meant because of the lyrics.
Ya love hurts
Love the Crue music. But honestly, it's hard to defend battery after battery and DUI charges. And that's just Vince
separate the Art from the artist, yeah 3 of those guys are Jerks & got in trouble a lot But they have great songs.
I don't get it, I think "theatre of pain" is a great album. Real bluesy with some incredible riffs and songs.
Louder than Hell is a very underrated song just saying
Wait, didn't MTV first air in 1982? I believe so! So how was Tommy, "a little kid and watching MTV", like it was on air after 'Leave it To Beaver'. And speaking of beaver, I believe Motley Crue invented the g-string
Kevin Kaatz he was basically a kid when he joined motley crue
song at 0:00
Sorry, Tommy, MTV wasn't around when you were a little kid. Hell it was only a couple years old when you guys broke big.
I'm not a fan of that song but little slow for what I like the rocking tunes
What's the song called @ 0.09
Raise Your Hands to Rock
