After years of surviving in tents,left education ,jobs,property kashmiri have been successful in reaching heights just because of "knowledge" instilled in them. I suggest that Indian government should develop 10 cities in Kashmir just for Hindus and transfer Hindu population from rest of the India. This will dilute muslim population of Kashmir and Kashmir will integrate with India.

I am kashmiri pandit,went to kashmir 32yrs back and when i saw my home ,it was totally changed and renovated. I could only recognize by house no,by lanes and a school near by. Even the auto wala who took me to my destination was demotivated to hear that iam a kashmiri pandit.he was totally bugged by what was shown in the kashmir files. Not even a single kashmiri muslim was there who welcomed us,they would start frowning at the slightest mention of me being kp. Just being a tourist is good for them otherwise a kashmiri pandit is hostile to them
Hi Shweta, perhaps my apology wouldn’t be enough to help you overcome the grief from not receiving a warm welcome from Kashmiris of your native place but i as a kashmiri has always condemned what happened to our non muslim brotherin in late 80’s and the muslims afterwards. I have grownup listening from my parents good things about our pandit neighbours who fled the valley at that time. I always tried to connect the threads in hope that one day we all will live together that simple & joyful life which my parents describe to me every time they talk about our pandit neighbourhood. Whatever has happened was unfortunate and had repercussions not only on one community but kashmir valley as a whole. Honestly, i got emotional while watching ur video of broken home which made your eyes wet as i could imagine how painful it should have been. I cant swipe the negative image u have got for Kashmiris after visiting home but i can only share love & respect to you by inviting to my home & promise to let you feel and realise the welcome home you would have ever expected. Love, respect & compassion can reconnect not the hatred so if we can make people smile with whatever we have thats the greatest achievement of ones life. Very tragic that the very ancestral natives of the great and holy land of Kashmir were ousted mercilessly; how could this have happened....and why isn't it being rectified? My heart shatters and blood boils hearing all this. My mother was from Poonch brought up by her maternal uncle/aunt, her biological mother lived i. Jammu. Though I never lived there - but just visited once many decades ago - still I feel extremely sorrowful about this...and can hardly imagine this girl's profound pain. My best wishes and love to her.

I am from West Bengal Bengal. My ancestors leaved in East Bengal (now Bangladesh). After partition our family have to moved to newly formed India with uncertainty leaved behind the land and the memory of there mother's land. I was born in Kolkata in 1987. Even my Father's siblings also born in India. But I have heard the struggle of my family, my grandmother told me. I can understand her feelings, but she is lucky that she can see her ancestors house, but I can't. She has some hopes that one day she may regain there land, but we haven't. This Congress (specifically Gandhi family) is the culprit for all of these. I will never forgive them. Lastly I am proud to be an Indian, India gave us the safe shelter as children feel safety in their mother's lap. But the nagging pain is somewhere there in our heart.

I am a Dogra from Jammu but lived in the Valley during my youth. Know Kashmiri and Kashmiri people very wel. Firstly genuine Kashmiri Pandits are a very tiny community. What is the genuine origin (though many people including the Jewish lobby want to distort things for a political agenda) of the Kashmiri Pandits? They are just plain Central Asian Aryans! Today most Muslims in the Valley are converts from different castes of Kashmiri Central Asian Hindus. Their physical (many wrestlers including the Great Gama were of Kashmiri Brahmin background) and mental capabilities are pretty evident if one studies their contributions in detail. . However the numbers are against them since how could a tiny unarmed community defend themselves when it has taken 700,000 Indian troops to bring relative peace to the Valley? During the 80 and 90s some countries backed tiny Pakistan to create problems for India but thanks to a Kashmiri Pandit, namely Indira Gandhi (who had India’s nuclear capabilities demonstrated) our enemies were frustrated. Many Kashmiri Muslims want the Brahmins back and now it is easy for the government to re-settle the Brahmins back in Kashmir if the Center has the will in India.

A very honest interview by a plain speaking Kashmiri Pandit woman. It is good to keep happy memories but it will be an artificial memory as long as there are no genuine expressions of welcome by the Muslims in the valley. Resettling the older residents of Kashmir will only be a political statement but will not put the clock back. What ought to happen is that Pandits must be settled in new towns that will be constructed by the government to house them. These new houses with all modern conveniences and will make the returning Pandit families feel good for coming back. The only reason that recovering their old houses may feel good to returning Pandit families is similar to getting back stolen goods, nothing more. In any case those old wooden houses are a blot on the countryside.
Actually Kashmiri pandit can Re-settle, with the help of NGO, govt. Local community, 370 did not create any obstacles, bcoz they r Kashmiri, Swetas expirience as same as another place when u will come after 30-40yrs,bcoz ur neighbor already captured ur property, its human nature

Greetings to both of you...Shweta Sapru and Pallavi Sarin. I empathise with you Madam Shweta. I was working in a senior managerial post in Zainakot in 1985-86. In my factory there were Pandits,,Muslims and Sikhs. Since I was from the Armed Forces and a Captain of ships, I was not at all partial on any community rationale I found that all three communities were equally innocent of work culture,very petty in their outlook towards their professional output .. even to acknowledge in a mentally disciplined way, that here was a company ,owned by a person ordinarily residing outside the Kashmir Valley who has invested money into this company. Doubtless, the investment was not for only welfare of the residents of the Valley,but for commercial profit. However,a sense of loyalty, that by such investment,the youth of the Valley were getting employment should have been a priority. It was the biggest Private Sector venture in the Valley then. I administered the company with due diligence backed by a Finance colleague who, also like me, was not from the Valley. Besides I had a Marketing colleague from the Valley....who had reasonable personal loyalty to me,since I was an appointee of the Owner. The Finance,Marketing colleagues and I did try to get the company to perform.I introduced some welfare measures for the work force. But,the work force ,barring 4-5 individuals, were obstructive,with wrong notions of immature union activity. There was no loyalty from them. I was constrained to read the ominous signs that were flashing quite plainly..and recommended a Lock Out as the company was not being allowed to pull out of the morass of unprofitable functioning As witnessed by me,in Zainakot, 99% of the other small industrial units were all on "borrow from Banks with never to return loans mindset" . The tourism sector also was mostly for the 'bag packer' variety. The houseboats and their murky role in nefarious activities- drugs, forcible abuse of hapless victims,were all orchestrated by these three communities in their specific areas of trade...with a lax State machinery under the Chief Minister, despite a strongman in the Raj Bhavan. This was Kashmir in mid 1980's. I never made any step to create enmity amongst the three communities..but it was my conviction that the Muslim worker was less cagey and more simple at heart. The supercilious attitude of the Pandit community out of a sense of better refinement in elementary education/ traditional customs..must have been quite provoking to the Muslim majority community. The Kashmiri Sikh too was so different from the Khalsa close friends of my Military years of experience...either in loyalty or in courage in the face of stern opposition. The Valley does have such a population and , which due to the mindset created of isolation from the rest of India by Articles 370,35 A, made them all view anybody from outside the Valley as 'Alien'. I have seen in haircutting saloons in those days, photos of Pakistani leaders displayed,whilst the Indian Army laboured for them tirelessly,maintaining their roads and bridges and rebuffing the Intruders at the borders ..all this while there were these local beneficiaries of the Army's work,openly harbouring Pakistanis in the most shameless ways of misplaced hospitality. None of the three communities raised their voices then...for this poor reciprocation of sentiments for the Indian Military's efforts in a hostile environment. The Separatists had a field day,amassing land and living ostentatious lifestyles . The leadership of Janab Sheikh Abdullah in Kashmir Valley and that of Pandit Nehru and Madame Indira Gandhi in Delhi got watered down in the decades after them. I say all the above for the benefit of those who grieve for Kashmir in the aftermath of removal of the said Articles on 05 Aug 2019. I have only sympathy for the Pandits who were forced to flee for their lives. But it is to understand their mindset of dog eat dog and a lack of appreciation of every gesture from the mainland 'Aliens', that I have elaborated above on my experience at length. I certainly have not conducted any statistical survey of other individual's experiences. The measures in force now are creating hardship,without doubt. It shall pass with Time. The Indian Military are trained to obey orders and enforce matters in a decent disciplined manner. They are not the same class as the Pakistani counterparts..whose dismal human right record in erstwhile East Pakistan should be always remembered. If the 1947 Lashkar attacks on Kashmir despite showing a leaning towards Pakistan, had not been stoutly defended by the Indian Military, it is doubtful,whether the Pandits or even the Muslims or Sikhs would have retained their individual identities. The Sikhs in POK and elsewhere should be wary of being used as pawns by Pakistan with their false sympathies of 'freedom, Khalistan' and other lies. Punjab is in the able hands of the best Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (my senior contemporary from the Military Academy.). Sikhs must strengthen Punjab ..which has always been the bulwark of India's offence and defence against our enemy,and to never fall for the enemy's overtures/seduction. For Madame Shweta Sapru I have admiration for her candid recount of the 'welcome' that she received. I can relate to her anguish at her emotional arrival at her old parental home, sans welcome,and not being able to accept the sheer injustice of having lost everything. This was the same trauma of so many,many of my schoolmates in early 1950's who were displaced in 1947 from their homes. Like those hardy refugees, many Pandits also have overcome the cruel events of 1989. It is quite unlikely that the Punjabis and Sindhis will ever be able to go back to Lahore or Karachi..even as a similar unlikely reality of the Pandits picking up their lifestyles once again in a hostile Kashmir Valley. Much water has flown under the bridges by now, to change that. The concern now for enlightened people of India should be that there should be a smooth transition in the Valley from an earlier selfish waywardness towards rest of India ,to a genuine willingness to be treated on par. Meanwhile the motormouths of the ruling BJP and their lumppen elements should be muzzled from provoking the decent sentiments of all Indians by remarking about grabbing land or respectable women- who are to be treated with utmost generosity as our own mothers and daughters and sisters Madame Shweta Sapru ..I appreciate your family's struggle,your present achievements and your bold disposition. Captain u hv given us an insight of how things were back then, pray that the situation will slowly improve for the benefit of the country, tho its sad d pandits won't feel comfortable in resettling as they won't be welcome, it is a hope that this may change to some kind of integration in d future.
Nostalgia may play a role in reclaiming one's place. But that alone is not sufficient. It is true that quite a number of Kashmiri Pandits are now well settled in all parts of the country and even abroad. They quite well off too. But they still remain displaced people. It is really heartening that quite a number of them have shown the will to return to their native place. And this is only natural. If you go through the history of Jews (though it would not be fully appropriate to compare the two communities), this is the only way the Kashmiri Pandits may restore their dignity and pride. It is immaterial whether on their return their neighbours welcome them with open arms or simply snub them. May I suggest the protagonist Shweta to go through the famous book "O Jerusalem" written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre?

Kashmiri Pandits should get 10 % reservations in Kashmiri govt jobs. Not in Jammu but in Kashmir valley.
If you go back in root cause of disputes in valley,,, it was, all govt jobs to Pundits of Jammu and very little for Kasmiri Muslims.....Not bearing hardship of Kashmiri winter, and shifting govt office to Jammu, for their comfort.

I am kashmiri pandit,went to kashmir 32yrs back and when i saw my home ,it was totally changed and renovated. I could only recognize by house no,by lanes and a school near by.
Even the auto wala who took me to my destination was demotivated to hear that iam a kashmiri pandit.he was totally bugged by what was shown in the kashmir files.
Not even a single kashmiri muslim was there who welcomed us,they would start frowning at the slightest mention of me being kp.

Hi Shweta, perhaps my apology wouldn’t be enough to help you overcome the grief from not receiving a warm welcome from Kashmiris of your native place but i as a kashmiri has always condemned what happened to our non muslim brotherin in late 80’s and the muslims afterwards.
I have grownup listening from my parents good things about our pandit neighbours who fled the valley at that time. I always tried to connect the threads in hope that one day we all will live together that simple & joyful life which my parents describe to me every time they talk about our pandit neighbourhood.
Whatever has happened was unfortunate and had repercussions not only on one community but kashmir valley as a whole.
Honestly, i got emotional while watching ur video of broken home which made your eyes wet as i could imagine how painful it should have been. I cant swipe the negative image u have got for Kashmiris after visiting home but i can only share love & respect to you by inviting to my home & promise to let you feel and realise the welcome home you would have ever expected.

Very tragic that the very ancestral natives of the great and holy land of Kashmir were ousted mercilessly; how could this have happened....and why isn't it being rectified? My heart shatters and blood boils hearing all this. My mother was from Poonch brought up by her maternal uncle/aunt, her biological mother lived i. Jammu. Though I never lived there - but just visited once many decades ago - still I feel extremely sorrowful about this...and can hardly imagine this girl's profound pain. My best wishes and love to her.

I am Ex BSF Officer and was in Kashmir in 1990.In those days on many places it was written in Red Paint,"Go Back Indian Dogs".My one observation- In 1990 the Kashmir Police and Collector/District Magistrate Office/Revenue Department were supportive to Militants and were reluctant to take any action.

I am from West Bengal Bengal. My ancestors leaved in East Bengal (now Bangladesh). After partition our family have to moved to newly formed India with uncertainty leaved behind the land and the memory of there mother's land. I was born in Kolkata in 1987. Even my Father's siblings also born in India. But I have heard the struggle of my family, my grandmother told me. I can understand her feelings, but she is lucky that she can see her ancestors house, but I can't. She has some hopes that one day she may regain there land, but we haven't. This Congress (specifically Gandhi family) is the culprit for all of these. I will never forgive them. Lastly I am proud to be an Indian, India gave us the safe shelter as children feel safety in their mother's lap. But the nagging pain is somewhere there in our heart.

I am a Dogra from Jammu but lived in the Valley during my youth. Know Kashmiri and Kashmiri people very wel. Firstly genuine Kashmiri Pandits are a very tiny community. What is the genuine origin (though many people including the Jewish lobby want to distort things for a political agenda) of the Kashmiri Pandits? They are just plain Central Asian Aryans! Today most Muslims in the Valley are converts from different castes of Kashmiri Central Asian Hindus. Their physical (many wrestlers including the Great Gama were of Kashmiri Brahmin background) and mental capabilities are pretty evident if one studies their contributions in detail. . However the numbers are against them since how could a tiny unarmed community defend themselves when it has taken 700,000 Indian troops to bring relative peace to the Valley? During the 80 and 90s some countries backed tiny Pakistan to create problems for India but thanks to a Kashmiri Pandit, namely Indira Gandhi (who had India’s nuclear capabilities demonstrated) our enemies were frustrated. Many Kashmiri Muslims want the Brahmins back and now it is easy for the government to re-settle the Brahmins back in Kashmir if the Center has the will in India.

A very honest interview by a plain speaking Kashmiri Pandit woman. It is good to keep happy memories but it will be an artificial memory as long as there are no genuine expressions of welcome by the Muslims in the valley. Resettling the older residents of Kashmir will only be a political statement but will not put the clock back.
What ought to happen is that Pandits must be settled in new towns that will be constructed by the government to house them. These new houses with all modern conveniences and will make the returning Pandit families feel good for coming back. The only reason that recovering their old houses may feel good to returning Pandit families is similar to getting back stolen goods, nothing more. In any case those old wooden houses are a blot on the countryside.
Actually Kashmiri pandit can Re-settle, with the help of NGO, govt. Local community,
370 did not create any obstacles, bcoz they r Kashmiri,

Every pandit know how they are welcoming in kashmir...thousands of kashmiri pandits are still living in kashmir..and also around 4000 pandits are living in kashmiri pandit colonies.. U can't judge kashmiri's by interacting with a 2 or 4 kashmiri's ..and moreover everyone is busy in their own work. ..u r not an celebrity mam..that everyone will know about u have 2 3 subscribers ..we know that kashmiri pandit r humiliated . ..but still u have to think about what ur saying....and u r lieing now ..in previous video kashmiri muslim show u ur place and his attitude was so humble to u...u r insulting him now. Greetings to both of you...Shweta Sapru and Pallavi Sarin. I empathise with you Madam Shweta. I was working in a senior managerial post in Zainakot in 1985-86. In my factory there were Pandits,,Muslims and Sikhs. Since I was from the Armed Forces and a Captain of ships, I was not at all partial on any community rationale
I found that all three communities were equally innocent of work culture,very petty in their outlook towards their professional output .. even to acknowledge in a mentally disciplined way, that here was a company ,owned by a person ordinarily residing outside the Kashmir Valley who has invested money into this company.
Doubtless, the investment was not for only welfare of the residents of the Valley,but for commercial profit. However,a sense of loyalty, that by such investment,the youth of the Valley were getting employment should have been a priority. It was the biggest Private Sector venture in the Valley then. I administered the company with due diligence backed by a Finance colleague who, also like me, was not from the Valley. Besides I had a Marketing colleague from the Valley....who had reasonable personal loyalty to me,since I was an appointee of the Owner. The Finance,Marketing colleagues and I did try to get the company to perform.I introduced some welfare measures for the work force. But,the work force ,barring 4-5 individuals, were obstructive,with wrong notions of immature union activity. There was no loyalty from them.
I was constrained to read the ominous signs that were flashing quite plainly..and recommended a Lock Out as the company was not being allowed to pull out of the morass of unprofitable functioning
As witnessed by me,in Zainakot, 99% of the other small industrial units were all on "borrow from Banks with never to return loans mindset" . The tourism sector also was mostly for the 'bag packer' variety. The houseboats and their murky role in nefarious activities- drugs, forcible abuse of hapless victims,were all orchestrated by these three communities in their specific areas of trade...with a lax State machinery under the Chief Minister, despite a strongman in the Raj Bhavan. This was Kashmir in mid 1980's. I never made any step to create enmity amongst the three communities..but it was my conviction that the Muslim worker was less cagey and more simple at heart. The supercilious attitude of the Pandit community out of a sense of better refinement in elementary education/ traditional customs..must have been quite provoking to the Muslim majority community. The Kashmiri Sikh too was so different from the Khalsa close friends of my Military years of experience...either in loyalty or in courage in the face of stern opposition. The Valley does have such a population and , which due to the mindset created of isolation from the rest of India by Articles 370,35 A, made them all view anybody from outside the Valley as 'Alien'. I have seen in haircutting saloons in those days, photos of Pakistani leaders displayed,whilst the Indian Army laboured for them tirelessly,maintaining their roads and bridges and rebuffing the Intruders at the borders ..all this while there were these local beneficiaries of the Army's work,openly harbouring Pakistanis in the most shameless ways of misplaced hospitality. None of the three communities raised their voices then...for this poor reciprocation of sentiments for the Indian Military's efforts in a hostile environment. The Separatists had a field day,amassing land and living ostentatious lifestyles . The leadership of Janab Sheikh Abdullah in Kashmir Valley and that of Pandit Nehru and Madame Indira Gandhi in Delhi got watered down in the decades after them. I say all the above for the benefit of those who grieve for Kashmir in the aftermath of removal of the said Articles on 05 Aug 2019. I have only sympathy for the Pandits who were forced to flee for their lives. But it is to understand their mindset of dog eat dog and a lack of appreciation of every gesture from the mainland 'Aliens', that I have elaborated above on my experience at length. I certainly have not conducted any statistical survey of other individual's experiences.
The measures in force now are creating hardship,without doubt.
It shall pass with Time. The Indian Military are trained to obey orders and enforce matters in a decent disciplined manner. They are not the same class as the Pakistani counterparts..whose dismal human right record in erstwhile East Pakistan should be always remembered. If the 1947 Lashkar attacks on Kashmir despite showing a leaning towards Pakistan, had not been stoutly defended by the Indian Military, it is doubtful,whether the Pandits or even the Muslims or Sikhs would have retained their individual identities. The Sikhs in POK and elsewhere should be wary of being used as pawns by Pakistan with their false sympathies of 'freedom, Khalistan' and other lies. Punjab is in the able hands of the best Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (my senior contemporary from the Military Academy.). Sikhs must strengthen Punjab ..which has always been the bulwark of India's offence and defence against our enemy,and to never fall for the enemy's overtures/seduction.
For Madame Shweta Sapru I have admiration for her candid recount of the 'welcome' that she received. I can relate to her anguish at her emotional arrival at her old parental home, sans welcome,and not being able to accept the sheer injustice of having lost everything. This was the same trauma of so many,many of my schoolmates in early 1950's who were displaced in 1947 from their homes. Like those hardy refugees, many Pandits also have overcome the cruel events of 1989. It is quite unlikely that the Punjabis and Sindhis will ever be able to go back to Lahore or Karachi..even as a similar unlikely
reality of the Pandits picking up their lifestyles once again in a hostile Kashmir Valley. Much water has flown under the bridges by now, to change that.
The concern now for enlightened people of India should be that there should be a smooth transition in the Valley from an earlier selfish waywardness towards rest of India ,to a genuine willingness to be treated on par. Meanwhile the motormouths of the ruling BJP and their lumppen elements should be muzzled from provoking the decent sentiments of all Indians by remarking about grabbing land or respectable women- who are to be treated with utmost generosity as our own mothers and daughters and sisters

Nostalgia may play a role in reclaiming one's place. But that alone is not sufficient. It is true that quite a number of Kashmiri Pandits are now well settled in all parts of the country and even abroad. They quite well off too. But they still remain displaced people. It is really heartening that quite a number of them have shown the will to return to their native place. And this is only natural. If you go through the history of Jews (though it would not be fully appropriate to compare the two communities), this is the only way the Kashmiri Pandits may restore their dignity and pride. It is immaterial whether on their return their neighbours welcome them with open arms or simply snub them. May I suggest the protagonist Shweta to go through the famous book "O Jerusalem" written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre?
