Well, it's gotten a bit better hasn't it? Not in comparison to this time period, but the eras right after this, idols were made so white-skinned they literally looked like corpses. All grey-skinned, and that copious black liner didn't help. Now they're still made up with lighter makeup, but not to the point of turning grey. Hopefully the trend will shift to one where the makeup is the same shade as the idol's actual skin colour soon.
Mmmm...I hate to disagree with you but I don't remember any tanned skinned kpop idols during this era. They still preferred whiter skin idols than the tanned ones. I can think of a few exceptions like Yoobin, Hyori, Hyolyn. Mostly was okay because they were "sexy".

This is the era where kpop idols were not overly white skinned.
Well, it's gotten a bit better hasn't it? Not in comparison to this time period, but the eras right after this, idols were made so white-skinned they literally looked like corpses. All grey-skinned, and that copious black liner didn't help. Now they're still made up with lighter makeup, but not to the point of turning grey. Hopefully the trend will shift to one where the makeup is the same shade as the idol's actual skin colour soon.

Mmmm...I hate to disagree with you but I don't remember any tanned skinned kpop idols during this era. They still preferred whiter skin idols than the tanned ones. I can think of a few exceptions like Yoobin, Hyori, Hyolyn. Mostly was okay because they were "sexy".
