Harvard Housing Day | Special Edition

Housing Day tradition is a unique experience for all Harvard College students! It is an annual tradition where each first-year will be randomly sorted into one of twelve residential houses on campus. Among these, some houses are not favored more than others due to their distance. The event often is filled with excitement, sleepless nights, alcohol, and even tears (from that first-year who get quadded). However, it is a day that I am sure that me and none of my friends would ever forget.
The event celebration starts before the official day, during which both the first-years and upperclassmen all stay up late to prepare for the event. First-years often gather with their blockmates (people they enter the housing lottery with), get drunk, and visit the houses to pray to the house god to favor their personal choice. Of course, not everyone will get their favorite house, but the event is still memorable as it's a day where all students come together to celebrate their dorms, their friend's company, and Harvard.
This was our experience participating in the first housing day event after the pandemic. Hope you enjoy!
