The D is my Favorite but that's because I'm a Sigma Derby Junkie gambling wise the Grand is Next on my list. I'd rather stay at the downtown Grand than the MGM grand
We started staying downtown about 10 years ago, and have always stayed at the 4 Queens. No resort fees, great restaurants & right in the middle of the action.
I haven't stayed downtown, but I like the Plaza for dining, the El Cortez and The D for gambling. I wasn't feeling Circa my one and only time gambling there!
We were so excited to stay at The El Cortez after it was all redone. After 2 days....and a very bad "Rash" all over my body....the doctor informed me it was the result of bed bugs. We checked into The Golden Nugget. Loved it.
Love your videos Ruby. Golden Nugget is my favorite because my father saw actor/singer Frank Sinatra perform there in 1987. That, and I won $300 there in 2019
We saw Frank Sinatra in Vegas the year Barbara Streisand was doing her “last” concerts. She was sold out. So we were able to see Frank. Fabulous show. And we were close enough to actually see him. No huge tv screens back then.
I loved all your choices. Pretty spot on. I personally think The D is underrated. I really enjoyed my stays there. It’s basic, but it’s nice, clean and you can ask for a room facing away from the noise of Fremont.
OMG, I had to laugh. You're showing the Circa Sports Book, and there up on the screen between the sports, is the catastrophe guy riding a girls trike with the sign HONK AT ME. LOL. He's too funny. He makes me laugh when the commercial with him comes on TV here at home, and there he is on the vegas screens. LOL
I’ve stayed at the Grand a number of times and really like it. I’m coming to Vegas end of September and my friend and I are trying The California. We watched your video on it and you really enjoyed the room you stayed in. Looking forward to it! Love your videos!
The Grand was the Lady Luck, our most favorite of all back in the day. We got married and stayed there all the time before we decided to move here and now it is no more. Did I hear you say the Pink Donut Box is cheap? I don't know about that, but after a few drinks and $24 later, I have a box of donuts that puts about 5lbs back on me. lol
Stayed in a suite at the Golden Gate a couple of weeks ago. The suite had a real cool 60s retro vibe. Liked it a lot. There's no restaurants on site, but you have access to all the Circa restaurants and amenities (like stadium swim) right across Freemont. Liked that GG is only a 110 room Property. The suite was on the Main St side, so it was quiet. Loved the history and prohibition theme. Staff was friendly and attentive. The comps I received were much better than what I got at mgm, venetian, or red rock (for similar play). Parking was also close to the hotel check-in. Hope to be back there in June.
Thanks for another fun video Ruby! I'm glad you included El Cortez, MY favorite hotel/casino. I win a LOT of money at El Cortez and I love every aspect of the place, but although it's the furthest away from the Fremont Street Experience, I wouldn't call El Cortez very quiet or even quiet. I'm at El Cortez often- in upper-floor, strip-view Tower Premium rooms and the music from all the competing bands and entertainers on Fremont Street is incredibly loud in my room up until 2AM, even on weeknights.
Hi Ruby. I really enjoy all your videos! They are very informative and fun. I would like to add a little tidbit about the El Cortez. I believe if you stay at the El, they have a deal with the Downtown Grand where you may use the pool at no charge. Keep up the great work!
Hi, stayed at circa last month during March madness it was great as usual. I prefer staying opposite of the pool area.. it's just more quiet.. I do like that they check Everyone for ids.. I do prefer playing across at Golden gate because their craps odds are better
I really like Downtown Grands casino and the GN in its entirety....aside from the crazy crowds. GN sometimes does no resort fee promos, which is a great opportunity to upgrade to fancier rooms
Have to mention Charthouse and RUSH Lounge when talking about the Golden Nugget, also they have great concerts. I also love the Cal, renovated, quiet, good restaurants
I always go to Las Vegas for the first week of March Madness (I was actually in 8 East when you were enjoying dinner with some guests).. For the past 2 years I've stayed at The El Cortez in the Cabana Rooms across the street.. Love everything about that property so I'm glad it was on your list
Golden Nugget's always a winner (but can get crowded, as you noted). Back in the day, I used to stay at Main Street Station - cheap rooms, good grill (Triple 7), part of the Berlin Wall (if you know where, you know!) and a lower-key vibe than right on Fremont.
I love main Street station casino but I'm always bummed out that their table games are only open on weekends.. please get more dealers so us gamblers can wager at anytime
No favorite yet. We will be visiting Vegas for the first time this year, and we opted for 3 nights at the Four Queens. Your video about them helped us decide, so thanks for that!😊
I always stay at the Golden Nugget when I go to Vegas and can attest about how great the place is! Great food, great staff, and being close to Fremont is always an added bonus! Plus there's the Chick-fil-a in the Rush Tower that is always open late night for some post Fremont hopping eats!
I have stayed there at least sixty times. I have grown old waiting for an elevator but the pool on the roof at Binion's makes this the best option downtown.
@@Shadowleecher4 Queens is not 4* resort, hence no fees. 2 star Motels don't charge resort fees either. FACT: Circa casino checks ID 21+ only at door, to keep out unhoused/homeless.
Hi, yes I've never stayed or played at 4 queens.. but from passing by I probably never would..looks a little run down, and questionable people hanging out front..might need some love
The last time I stayed downtown was at the Plaza in September 2022 and my wife and I did not have as much fun as we do at the Cosmo. I just feel like the whole 'vibe' on Freemont is much different than the strip when walking around. I feel like my head is on a swivel looking for danger when on Freemont street.
I'm dissapointed that Four Queens didn't make your list. In my opinion it's the best deal on Freemont due to no resort fee and low priced rooms. Great selection of slots and being in the middle of Freemont Street.
Hi Ruby, I watched a lot of your videos before going to Vegas last week! All your tips were spot on specially the $20 trick which worked at Planet Hollywood and was able to get a room with a view! Keep up the great videos.
I always stay Downtown at the Golden Nugget and I absolutely love it. It's my home away from home! Strip is way overrated and overpriced! Golden Nugget is definitely a great stay!
We always stay at Main St Station, of course we have been going there for YEARS and my hubby and I each get 4 nights free every month, so its a no brainer as we can walk anywhere else we want to go downtown. But we like Main St because it is a LOT more mellow than the other casinos. Not too loud, not too smoky. We LOVE the staff there but then they know us well by now, many of them have become our friends. They recently renovated their rooms which is great! They do have a mini fridge but no coffee maker (which we don’t drink coffee so we don’t care). The cons are the casino is small…not the greatest selection of machines. And their table games are STILL not back in full action since the pandemic, they are only available on weekends. Also the restaurants have cut back hours since the pandemic as well, but the Triple 7 is a microbrewery so good beer and pretty good food, and they have a really good buffet. So, if you are looking for a quieter hotel/casino as a ‘home base’, with easy access to all the rest of the downtown action, Main St is a good option!
Thanks Rubies.Im traveling to Vegas to visit my Nephew in Summerlin for the first time.I going to stay at Suncoast since its close by him.For my Birthday we are jumping off the Strat and then hitting the Bacchanal for supper.I thoroughly enjoy your vids.Especially since Im not a gambler and have been taking tips from you guys on the slots.Where in Wisconsin are you from? Minneapolis here.Would be a blast to see you out at Suncoast. Thanks and peace 👍🏼☮🇺🇸
Great reviews, great video! One of these days I will make it to the downtown area / Fremont street (I have driven by, but not stayed or hung out there). Headed to Vegas in a week, but staying and hanging out on the South end of the strip. Things change so quickly there and there is so much to see!
Thank you for your videos. They are so helpful. We're going to LV for the first time in over 30 years and I take notes when I watch your reviews. We remember how fun downtown is, so on our way back from Grand Canyon Nat'l Park, we thought this would be a great way to stay to end our trip as we're staying on the strip on the first part.
Fremont casino has the Tony Roma prime rib special between 4:30 and 6:30 approximately every day for $10.00. We made reservations and it was delicious.
The Downtown Grand. Perfect. Rooms are very clean. Book online 2 days and one day free. Pool is great. Food and drinks. One block from Fremont but far enough to not hear the live music. Parking Lot is little scary. But it is free and valet is free.

El Cortez all the way for me. I'd like to try Downtown Grand, but they seem stingy with comps. I've definitely gotten comps at other properties at a lower coin in level. You're spot on about the non renovated rooms at Plaza. Very meh. If you're staying longer than two nights I like to work in a "Strip day" to change things up. Easy to canvas Fremont Street pretty quickly. Also, the vibe at Hogs n Heiffers is unique lol. Worth stopping in for a beer.
El Cortez's Boarding Pass Promo is such a great deal. Just go to the player's club & show them your out of town ID & boarding pass to get at least $10 free slot play, $25 blackjack match, & free drink at the bar.
Nice set of choices. Although as everything Downtown is so close to everything else, it is probably less important than Strip resorts to worry about what else is at the property, and just concentrate on the room you are getting.

My first and last trip to Las Vegas was a stint at the Stratosphere hotel. We were there for a week. Only in the room to sleep at night and shower in the morning. Money well spent. It's cheaper to stay off the strip.
I love that they didn't demolish the El Cortez, but I do wish they had left some blasts from the past, specifically, I wish they had left their 1940's 'coffee shop' in place. That's now only a memory for those lucky enough to have gone to the hotel 60 years ago.
Only downtown place I've stayed at was in 1995 at the Horseshoe...otherwise it been on the strip...but mostly at The Orleans...they always had decent cheap rooms & good gambling
Love your reviews. I have always stayed at Treasure Island on the strip but have had to change due to the density of smokers and inadequate ventilation system. I am looking to trying the Plaza for the non-smoking casino area and will also consider one of more of your suggestions. Thanks I watch your videos all the time.
Staying at the 4 queens soon. No resort fees and a room with a fridge, unlike anything on the strip unless you pay extra. Hoping it is clean and decent. Not going to sleep much, just want clean and safe.

Chick-Fil-a is in the Carson tower. You may be thinking of Chart House that's in the Rush Tower.
Thank you Ruby I'm planning Christmas in Las Vegas.
