See the other video, where Alfredo was about to lose, then Joe made an enormous bid that would definitely make him the loser - and he did this on the FINAL TURN of the game! (It was a Let's Roll video where the players can bid infinite money, forgot the name of it.)
But he didn't? He ends the game with $54. The final round before his accident he had 3 amethyst ($2), 1 sapphire ($4), and 1 ruby ($6), and no cards. Any way you slice it, he leaves the mine then with $16 bringing him to a total of $70, which would have been 3rd place so no change. He was correct to keep mining.
@@locopyro13 When you sell three of the same color you can double the value of another color that round. So he would have sold three amethyst and doubled the value of his ruby. So he would have had a total of $76 and tied for 1st. Basic Math.

Joe and Fredo taking the hit on day 4 was so dumb... if you DO use up the book to stay in, worse case you just die later and get it back anyways. But staying in gives a chance to getting lucky and making TONs of points this turn.
Yeah, like just pick a gem amount you're aiming for to actually leave the mine over, and if you don't hit your goal just push it til you die, and end up in the exact same position you started. It's no-lose. The only way not spending the book makes sense, is if there was a rule that you can only get one book per game or something.
It makes some sense if you consider that getting a lot of gems that round means no potential to do so next turn, assuming you leave and don't get a book. If you have the book in the next one and, say, draw the amber, you *also* have more cards to try and conserve that amber while still getting other gems.
The card Trevor played was "This isn't mine". It gives another player a mined obsidian. Jack tried to play a "Not mine either" card, that can only be used to counteract the first card, after mining the obsidian himself. They're literally different cards, and shown on screen.
Okay... that intro for RTs 20th Anniversary is just... I'll be honest; it's creepy. I see what they were going with, but the laughter, slightly ominous sounding music, and the distorted images just scream "horror movie" to me. Unless that is what they were going for, in which case, spot on.

Talking strategy... I wonder if it's better to play that "draw 3" card early in a round or later. Early has a higher chance of getting you many good gems. Late lets you dig deeper safely to find the last few gems you need for a combo. Both have their pros.
If you get a bunch of good gems early, you become a target. Same thing goes for the whole game. I honestly think it's better to hold those all for the final day (as a general rule) or very, very strategically use them to secure combos on other days if you have high value gems to double/etc.

Coming out of round 1: Everyone but Fredo are absolute fools. Obviously, Jack absolutely should have left, but the other 3 should have each saved 2 gems in their chests. If you aren't using a crystal for a combo, then it's better kept to try for a combo on a later turn. It'll always be worth at least it's base value, after all. The only "downside" is that it doesn't go back into the bag, but that's an equal benefit to everyone anyways. Fredo wasn't a fool, because he just got murdered. Nothing you can do against that. Stealing from Trevor (rather than Joe) may have been questionable, but it wasn't an overtly bad move.
Lindsey 100% needs to play next time. I remember she once gave away a sure win for a 50/50 shot just to make things interesting. The Chaos would be magical.
