His awareness of the minerals and the mining during each time period… impressive.
I just think this object is gorgeous.
Two masters, two cultures, pretty sweet.
This appraiser is very knowledgable.
the snuff bottle market is a strong one
Can we say that it hasn’t been snuffed out
I greatly admire those ancient skills that we are in danger of losing altogether because of our reliance of technology
You can learn the skills to make that at most art colleges. Stoneworking and Jewelry Making.
OK my man knows orient history better than history itself ! 😻
Beautiful 😍
Awesome
it was used for coke.
I love coke!
Wrong, Coca Cola wasn't even invented back then. Besides it would only be able to hold like a mouthful.
Nah
Probably opium
Tobacco snuff, actually
this thing in China is not only 6k , it’s underestimate the value
@masakasama Yes, I think the jade bottle on its own would have been immensely valuable - whoever added all those decorations really reduced the value.
No one ever has any idea...
I asked my mom "why didn't they have these in thr 70s when everyone was partying?!?" 🤣🤣 iykyk.
I need this for my blow
Was thinking that too!
If it doesnt have japanese stuff on, its price is higher
WOW!...4000 $D...555!
I LOVE IT.

Somehow, her reaction saying:"I had no idea" has an asian accent...
Your one of those professional victims who gets offended by everything aren’t you
Who even calls it the Orient anymore...
They used to refer to art as oriental and the people as asian.
@@4Dye used to
Snuff?! Since when did people call cocaine snuff? I guess if the Emporer says its OK then it's OK. Snuff!! Thats funny. lol
Snuff is tobacco that you inhale through the nose... lol.
Highly offensive that she calls it "the Orient" when she owns a piece of Asian culture and history
Emily This a serious question. I was born in 1944 and always heard the terms Orient and Orientals, even in school. When did that become offensive?
Asian encompasses Turkey, japan, Russia and in a sense Australian. To make sure the difference is known the word Orient is offen use. Hence why Universities, museums worldwide have departments of Oriental studies. Is Turkish the same as Chinese. No it's not !! So that's why Oriental is used instead of Asian. I think you best grab a map of the world and study it and stop being so offended. I bet you are the sort of person who thinks Africa is a country..
@@w.p8960 it isn’t offensive. Emily is one of those people who constantly search for things to become offended at. 🙂
@@415nerissa my now 50 year old children tell me for them to refer to people as Oriental was deemed offensive in their school years. I had not been clued in.
Why? It Is The Orient. In Britain "Asian" is used to describe people from the Indian subcontinent. Oriental or East Asian is used for people from, well Asia.
I'm 38% Asian and have no problem with it being referred to as the orient.
You are offended but don't specify Which Asian culture and/or history you're referring to! Asia is a huge continent so please, in future, be more specific when referring to "Asian" culture and history. You could be referring to the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Tibet, Cambodia etc.
I have two old snuff bottles and absolutely no idea of their value. They might be worth pennies or perhaps thousands of dollars. I wish I knew an expert that could tell me whether I own trash or treasure.
Could you give a brief description of the two?
Is that top the original? It looks as if it doesn't belong.
And I wanted to see the spoon attached
I was wondering about the top too. It’s looks like something that would be an accessory to a My Little Pony toy.
I Love this precious little thing.
The middle figure looks like Winnie The Pooh / Xi JingPing
4-6 thousand dollars. I believe he have that low appraisal because he had some stuff. 😑
Whatttttt?Ia have one of this,is under my tv,I'm gonna look into this.🤗
Send pics.
I think it should be worth more with the jade and tourmaline in it....
It would he now. The Chinese antiquities market is insanely hot
@@huberticusrex You're right.
Darn japanese artist ruined it
Stunning little snuff bottle.
"You put your weed in it"...circa 1770
You think the appraiser could have rubbed his fingers any harder on the bottle. Surprised he didn't use a knife or a file or sandpaper.
the guy is really manhandling that antique, should at least wear gloves or better yet use a pointer
youve got a point but maybe not in years as its a treasured heirloom, if you watch the American version they usually use a pointer or other safety measure,
radioguy1620 Wearing gloves is actually risky because it severely reduces both your tactile sense and your grip--much easier to drop something wearing gloves rather than using your bare hands. Especially the case in the rare book trade, where you're far more likely to rip a page while wearing gloves than you are to damage paper with skin oil for the small amount of time you're touching a page.
I like to be manhandled
This man likes to be manhandled.
Good observation! A real professional should know how to handle valuable items.
I need one for my snuff
It's a very lovely piece.
it is annoying that now in America you can't buy snuff
Stunning.
I have more snuff bottle
I'll buy it from that lady for between $4-$6,000 (CASH) then take it to a Christie's Aucton, and get MILLIONS.............
These stupid things always show up when I’m trying to find Early American snuff bottles.
The good old days when fidget spinners still were not a popular reference for "finger distraction".
"The snuff-bottle is a strong market presently"
The things one hears on AR
CHA-CHING!!! And here I was thinking $800-$1200...
get this in an auction in china and youll get more.
It is beautiful.
Fascinating!❤️
these are a dime a dozen on ebay for a few hundred dollars
I doubt it very much. This one was embellished.
Sold??
Did not show bottom????? Was trying not to show it?????
$4,000 - $6,000 is nothing to snuff at.
