There was a prophecy When a hammer smash the dragon a new king born. Hugh think that was him. It happened after 153 years at the trident and Robert Baratheon won the crown.
I thought that Hugh is the one that burned Tumbleton. In the show Hugh isn`t bring being portrayed as a bad person he even saved a women from Vermitor. He also didn`t have a family in the book.
@@dianabryson5264Bad person? Wrong show, there are no good vs. evil and his daughter died because Rhaenyra blocked the city, he will have a reason to turn cloak
I am so excited for how they have set up Hugh’s character. As you say, he is one of the most corrupt and violent of the dragonseeds. But they have opened Hugh as a caring husband, who disdains the greed of others and believes in people who make promises. I wonder if he becomes a misunderstood anti-hero who is trying to save his family or if he is corrupted by power and descends to madness like Macbeth.
I thinks it's possible the histories in Fire and Blood leaned heavily into vilainising Ulf and Hugh most likely due to them being bastards. They would have expected them to be treacherous Because they are bastards. I really am excited to see where they go. As we all know, George rarely, if ever, writes black/white characters. And the maester who put Fire and Blood together seems to have made many of the folks good or bad, not much wiggle room.
Rhaenyra's Kingdom? I think not 😤 Nah but on a serious note, crazy how even many of the Dragonseeds would also be killed off by the Dance, not just the main legitimate members of the Valyrian houses, as well as the Dragons of course. So many people and beasts of Valyrian blood, wiped out in this Civil War. A tragedy indeed
Probably the dance of dragons is a microcosm of the doom of Valyria. Houses/Dragons become too large and powerful, leading to greater conflicts and in-fighting.
You are right my friend king aegon ii offered her and her bastards the lordship of dragonstone and driftmak and she tried took the kingdom from her brother she gave birth to 3 bastards and she lied that they are trueborn only because of her the innocent people of kingslanding died and murdered masters of law jashper wayld, hand of the king otto hightower and lord rosbey and stckwarth king punished her giving her to sunfyre
after watching the show idk if they plan on following through with this. they both seem pretty chill and hugh seems like someone who really has a bone to pick with the greens while ulf really seems like a man of the people.
It doesn't make sense that the Hull boys were fathered by Corlys rather than Laenor. Velaryons are Valyrians too but they weren't dragonriders so without the Targ blood from Princess Rhaenys, I don't see how Corlys's bastard sons could bond with a dragon.
There is a theory that you don’t need magic to bond with dragons. You need to earn its trust and be fearless, that’s why the Targs were so worried about people stealing their dragon eggs and why Nettles bonded with Sheepstealer (by just feeding the dragon).
Targaryens we’rent the only Dragon Lords. Also, their mother could be dragon seed who’s children were fathered by Corlys. We don’t know much about the mom. I mean there’s many ways around this
You're missing the point. It isn't being targaryen that makes you able to be a dragon lord. It's being valyrian. Which both targaryen & velaryon have. It's a special race
After seeing how the show is portraying Hugh, it seems like he won’t betray the blacks in the show as it would make no sense to trust Aegon again after the death of his daughter
Why would Hugh betray the Blacks? What reason does he have to be honorable in a conflict that began because such honor was lacking? The Greens deceived everyone to place Aegon II on the throne, while the Blacks responded by cutting off food supplies to King’s Landing, leading to the death of Hugh’s daughter and widespread starvation. If the Blacks do end up on the throne, Rhaenyra’s lineage is marred by bastardy. Hugh has come to understand the extent of his power with Vermithor and the vulnerabilities of both the Blacks and the Greens. He likely believes he deserves to sit on the throne himself.
Where does Hugh’s wife live? That might have something to do with it. I believe in the show she dies when Templeton is attacked. And is killed by The Blacks.
I really don't know how the show will play out Hugh. They made it crystal clear that he's Saera Targaryen's son in the show. He could grow to resent the fact that his life is so different from Rhaenyra's bastard son while he himself is more directly related to King Jaehaerys than Prince Jacaerys is. The show is portraying Hugh as an honorable man but I can see him going sour on Rhaenyra's holier than thou attitude about her own illegitimate sons, especially after the way Jacaerys is behaving so condescendingly towards the dragon seeds.
Looking forward to seeing Hugh be fleshed out. The book paints him as a villain. But you can tell that the accounts were written by Hugh’s enemies. The Greens thought he was over ambitious thug that they could manipulate. The Blacks saw him as a peasant who got greedy, and then betrayed them. Hugh could not read or write, so we can’t know how he regarded his own actions at the time.
yea i mean the book is out and we all know the story and ending. altho the video is talking about the events in the book not the show. this event will be most likely the end of season 3 or mid season 4.
Hugh Hammer is hinted in the show that he might be a bastard son of Saera Targaryen the daughter of King Jaehaerys she got exiled in essos and opened a brothel. that explains how he claimed Vermithor.
Vermithor fought seasmoke and tessarion, he killed seasmoke by ripping his head off, wirh seasmokes head in his mouth vermithor tried to take off but his wings were tattered amd couldn't support his weight, he soon collapsed and died, vermithor also mortally wounded tessarion due to which tessarion also died soon after that, basically all these 3 dragons died
So, all in all.. they did have some legit reason, no? You riding a biggest dragon for a queen, and you get offered a huge land, which she denied you. Not once, but twice. Show will make this about his wife.. e.e ..no doubt. He is too "noble" already, writers made a mistake there.
The whole betrayal happened and was caused by that annoying girl rhaynera she should’ve gaved them what they asked gor after they helped take kingslanding from the green daemon advised rhaynera to make hugh and ulf white lords but her greedy nature and paranoia didn’t allow her to so thats why they betrayed her
Hope not.... They won't be casting anyone who is well known. Sean Bean as Ned Stark was the only one, and I don't see that changing. Fan casting choices are always trash.
There was a prophecy
When a hammer smash the dragon a new king born. Hugh think that was him. It happened after 153 years at the trident and Robert Baratheon won the crown.
Could also be a foreshadowing of the Children of The Forest using the Hammer of the Waters to Smash the Dragonriders of Old Valyria with The Doom 🌋!
Hard bet Hugh’s betrayal in the show will be a result of his wife’s death at Tumbleton. She’s mentioned going there twice in the show
I thought that Hugh is the one that burned Tumbleton. In the show Hugh isn`t bring being portrayed as a bad person he even saved a women from Vermitor. He also didn`t have a family in the book.

House Baratheon is the true Dragon Seed
All this is telling me is that rhaenyra is terrible at making decisions
It's ironic that she hid her own sons bastard status out of shame. Only to take pride in random bastards who would betray her.

Perhaps the mother had Targaryen blood as a dragon seed herself in her and therefore the mix of blood was still enough for the dragons to bind.
