    Thank you Patrick. Good job. Boom for cables. Frame on back. High above lid. Add wall mount to frame to be able to hold your 75 inch flat screen. Have a blessed and safe week.

    I just put together a diag cart. Got good ideas from Cody & Mario. Went with the series 2, 5 drawer US General. I was undecided between a scope boom or bnc plate like Mario had. I ended up getting bnc extensions and running them through the screw driver holes & using magnetic hooks on the side of the cart for the leads. I was able to fit a 27” monitor on the inside of the lid.
    Thank you for sharing your videos!

      I filmed that video, and then work fell off completely! I haven't made any improvements to the cart yet because work has been a little slow, and money got a little tight. Hopefully within the next month I get back to it!!

    Very nice indeed. Rather than buying the front probe kits, what I like to do is get the actual connector, male or female, pull it apart and remove the pins. Then I solder the ends of the wire so they r nice to alligator clip to. Your methods r much nicer though.

      I enjoyed this! I liked that USB tool. I don't need it quite yet, but I can see that being needed in the future. ..
      The monitor, I think should me kept in the top for extra protection. Idk
      I agree with the boom vs front ports on the cart. It's not just you tripping over them, it's the other techs. Also when working on vehicles, it helps keep them safe from moving parts or better reach, like those tall trucks.

    • @VoltageDropDiagnostics
      @VoltageDropDiagnostics  4 роки тому +1

      That's a valid point as far as protecting the monitor. An even bigger issue for me is that I store the cart under a wall cabinet, and I don't have a lot of extra height about the cart for the monitor, but I'd be willing to move the cabinet if needed. But I'm pretty certain that I am going with a boom arm for the leads after everyone's suggestion.

    if it were mine i'd do a boom. know an electrician? have them bend up a piece of 1" conduit. then i would do a frame so the monitor sits high enough you can have the lid open and still see it. i really hope your workplace is either paying real good or has a tool program. most of that is what i'd call a "shop tool". i know i rather had my own cuz someones always messing the shop ones up but its unrealistic for a shop to not supply them.

    • @richardcranium5839
      @richardcranium5839 4 роки тому +1

      also a thought have it so your scope and laptop is hooked up ready to go. may have to drill and gromet the backside for the wiring to go through. the more times you hook and unhook those connections the less they will last.

    • @VoltageDropDiagnostics
      @VoltageDropDiagnostics  4 роки тому

      That's a valid point about using those connections constantly. The autel and the picoscope is the shops tools. One of the few perks about being a foreman is the ability to keep them nearby. The snap on verus and the launch, and everything else in the box is mine.
      Brian Good did a video of his cart and he used conduit that he bent. I am really leaning towards the boom being built that way.

If Snap On isn't going to support the tool in the near future (at least that's what the guy in training last week was saying) I'm just wondering if it is still a good investment.

      I also heard that next year is the last update they’re doing for it.
      I’ll be honest. I wouldn’t buy one right now unless it was a smoking deal. Right off the bat, it will most likely need a battery. They’re $310 and nobody rebuilds them or sells a knock off, i looked.
      I love have my verus pro. But If i were buying one today, I’d spend a couple more dollars and get the verus edge.

    Definitely like the setup and giving me some good ideas for myself! For myself, I would put the screen on the inside of the lid, the cart would be more compact and screen would be protected when not in use from dirt, debris, flying wrenches, etc......have you looked into the snapon hook accessory panel that bolts to the side of the cart? It would definitely free up some space! What do you use for a power supply for reflashes and testing? I use the 100amp powermax converter, awesome compact box, provides constant power with the flip of a switch.
