Former Professional Table Tennis here, that was last time 21 points were used for a match, same for a 38mm ball and 5 consecutive serves per player. China learned from their mistakes. Penholder players were no longer a priority for China, they changed style, techniques, copied Sweeden game and improved it to next level.
Pathetic, it's been 24 years already where no one else besides China takes on all ITTF world championship and all gold and silver medals in Olympic games since Beijing 2008. Finally, in Paris we got Truls Moregard from Sweeden to win a Silver Medal in singles after beating #1 ranked player Chinese Wang Chuqin in round of 32.
Proud to be Swedish when I see this, and the 5-0 upset in 1989. Although I doubt that it will ever happen again, but you never know 😉🏓
I hope to see Sweden rise from the ashes and beat China again

I think Jörgen Persson was in his prime this year. Also played semis at the olympics same year. He was amazing in this tournament
And Waldner in the Olympic final, but Persson played better in this final.
You are not wrong. I think Persson was sometimes overshadowed by the whole Waldner 'thing'. But he was a really amazing player, especially in this tournament.
@@denis888red Persson played amazing in all Team tournaments, even better then Waldner. In the six Euro team finals he played, he dident lose a single match.
