- We marked our return to the Champions League in style as we thrashed PSV Eindhoven amidst a joyous atmosphere at Emirates Stadium.
Matching the weather throughout, the goals rained in on our opponents and we found ourselves three ahead at half-time thanks to strikes from our front three of Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus.
Skipper Martin Odegaard then got in on the act after the restart with a trademark finish that helped us record a scoreline our performance merited, and one that was fitting of the occasion
Having waited six years to compete in the competition again, we wasted little time in reestablishing ourselves in it as we came out all guns blazing, and swiftly built a solid lead.
Just eight minutes in, Saka edged his way down the right and picked out Odegaard who was given too much time and space to line up a shot, and after it was parried by Walter Benitez, the England international was on hand to simply slip the rebound into the bottom corner to register what was remarkably his first European goal at Emirates Stadium.
Moments later Jesus was a stud’s length away from converting a Ben White cross, and on 18 minutes the damp conditions saw Benitez spill another low Odegaard effort but this time the Argentinian goalkeeper managed to just about recover.
But 60 seconds later, he was picking the ball out of his net again. Jesus pounced on some hesitancy in the visiting defence to spring a counter-attack and find Saka, who again was gifted time to creep closer to the box, and that mistake was punished as he slid a pass for Trossard to fire past Benitez and score in successive games.
Our attacks were relentless and Jesus twice forced the PSV keeper into saves within the space of a minute, firstly driving the ball at the shot-stopper from an angle, and then after some neat footwork afforded him a sight of goal, a shot destined for the top corner was well tipped over, with Gabriel miscuing a header from the resulting corner when well-placed.
Needing a response, the visitors offered little to show they could get back into the game and only a screwed Johan Bakayoko attempt and an Armel Bella-Kotchap header from a corner caused any sort of concern, but Peter Bosz saw his team’s chances of getting a result diminish further on 38 minutes when the third goal arrived.
A raking Gabriel pass sent Trossard scampering down the left, and his chipped cross to the back post picked out Jesus perfectly. The Brazilian produced an excellent first touch to kill the ball dead, and then hammered it past a helpless Benitez to end the game as a contest.
Half-time came at the right time for the Dutch side who were on the ropes, and the break in play saw us lose some of our attacking potency and rhythm. Jesus prodded wide of the mark after good work from Reiss Nelson and Kai Havertz as we worked back through the gears, and on 70 minutes we found our scoring touch once again.
After Havertz sprung a break, the ball went through substitutes Emile Smith Rowe and Nelson before it arrived at the feet of Odegaard, and again the Norwegian was allowed acres of space to pick his spot, and he executed to perfection from 20 yards to get the goal his performance deserved.
Our dominance of proceedings continued with David Raya rarely called into action, and while we couldn't add to our total in the final 20 minutes, Mikel Arteta’s managerial debut in the Champions League was one he’ll forever look back on fondly.

There is chance Arsenal can actually win the Champions League. According to statistics their behind only Man City and Bayern as the most likely to win Champions League. Their more likely to win it, than Real Madrid, Fc Barcelona and PSG. According to some shorth clip creator he predicted Arsenal will win the Champions League, so im not sure, but I want to see how your comment gets memed, if Arsenal actually wins the Champions League.

Real Madrid and Bayern are always favourites as well imo.
Anything is possible obviously, but maybe it's a bit too soon for this relatively inexperienced Arsenal team.
The talent is there. It s possible, but you need a bit of luck as well.
City are favourites and you never discount Madrid and Bayern due to their experience in the competition. Arsenal should be considered 4th favourites, which isn't a bad position to be.

Oh yes it’s like we were gone. I don’t have the same expectation with Arteta than what I had with Wenger (all due respect). With wenger it was no discipline tactically and in defence, I knew we were going to be out in round 16.

Saka did well, but let’s not overhype him. Odegaard isn’t world class, he needs to improve on his through passes.
Whether it ends up into a goal, I saw Iniesta and KDB making many magical passes every games, cutting up the opponent’s defence like a knife through butter. Odegaard is not doing that.

He does that for both club and country; a starter and goalscorer in the Euros and World Cup. He's the PL best young player of the season, England's Men player of the year for two years running now, and made the Ballondor 30 man shorlist; How is he overhyped? Saka is a proven and consistent player that delivers week-in week-out- you're probably taking him for granted because he does it with so much ease. A man who's amongst the top-6 dribblers in the league and the best LW- that's why he's part of the EPL team of the season. He just doesn't lose form bro. He's solid-no hype!
Martin Odegaard scored 15 non-penalty Goals and provided 8 assists compared to KDB 7 goals and 16 assists last season, he made the premier league team of the season and made the Ballondor shortlist.He's been a consistent performer since his loan deal from Madrid and had help the team to remain consistent performers. He's ball retention skills are top-notch, his transition plays are off the hook. His linkup play is class and he brings a fluidity to the team that is seen in top class midfielders. He gaves defence-splitting passes, eventhough they might not be like KDB. His ball game and leadership had made him Captain for both club and country. He simply oozes class and ranks amongst the top and most valuable midfielders in the world. The top of the cherry is that he's just 24 and still improving. If you don't consider him a world class player then I simply can't help you.

In this same match he gave an absolute sublime through ball to Jesus or trossard( I don't remember who exact) Ødegaard always had that ability to create something out of nothing. Don't know how many of you will remember, but about 18 months ago we played Wolves at home in the league, it was February 2022. We won 2-1 after a late winner from Lacazette. After the game Peter Drury had a poetic narration where he said: "It feels like a champions league night here, Arsenal feel like a champions league club again." That night I thought we were going to last season's UCL. It didn't happen and we had to wait one more season, but it's finally back and what a magical night it was, I was having goosebumps from start to finish.

Ødegaard's accuracy about his shooting outside box is something unique. It's like a laser. Such power and placement! I think this is the one aspect where Arteta improved him so much. He used to prefer pass in stead of shooting until two years before.

Odegard is so good in this game! And I think Havertz also playing very well (some crucial pass and interception).
Havertz did have many amazing runs but unfortunately his mates didn’t pass the ball to him. He also been open in midfield very often but teammates refused to pass the ball to him. I think they might want to force Arteta to make their friends Veira, Martinelli starters again. Issue though is that those players don’t have the same abilities and profile as Havertz does when he puts his mind to it. Also Havertz would probably be better coming from the right side Osthessens field since he is left-footed.

Odegaards is a magician, not only he creates and score goals but he has an instinct of an elite anchor in midfield, he just anticipates passes and knows when to press and his technique tackling the ball is mindbogling for his position. Odegaard is going to have a long career in football, he'll play deeper in his latter years but I think he has enough hunger to reach Modric level one day.

Arteta is building something special in Arsenal. This generation is really good. They will win some trophies in this season if not all. As a Liverpool fan, i hate to see my team now chasing Arsenal's tail but it is always good to see Arsenal back to top 4 class. The invincible team during Thiery Henry's era still mesmerise me. This team i think can exceed them. Gutted to see Odegaard joined Arsenal when he left Real Madrid. Can't understand why Liverpool didn't bought him at that time! Trossard was a bargain buy for the output, his overall game is above Martenelli . One thing thats stands out is his decision making is a lot better than Martinelli
