Honestly, what an honour it must be for those who served and died for the Roman Republic/Empire only for people in the 21st centrury to later have somewhat of a nostalgic urge to reform and pay tribute to the greatness of Rome, restoring it to its former glory nearly a millennium later.
Slavery in Rome was probably better than a life outside of the Empire at the time, and you could join the legion as an auxiliary they didn't automatically enslave you if you weren't Roman, The legions mainly only enslaved prisoners from places they fought wars with. Also literally every ancient civilization had slaves, not just Rome.
@@undeadcenturion402 Uuhh no? For example the Romans enslaved over 1,000,000 Gauls and massacred another million. Most of which were not POWs, furthermore they erased cultures everywhere they went. And yes slavery was standard back then but that doesn’t justify it. The Romans conquered, enslaved, and erased countless cultures throughout Europe and the Middle East. Compare that to say the Greeks, who while they also practiced slavery they did not on the vast level the Romans did and instead of erasing the cultures of areas they conquered they intermarried and synthesized with the locals rather than purely slaughtering and oppressing.
@@manlyman2624 Slavery was very normal in those times, just as it was for niggas in the 1500s. It is obvious that it is not accepted that your culture mixes with that of another people, it is only accepted that the defeated integrate by learning your culture without changing it, and this is rightly so even in our times. How should we behave towards people from the past who had different values than ours? the answer is that we must respect them. it cannot be said that if slavery is wrong today then if I discover that it was practiced in the past then that part of history becomes shameful and we must erase it

Caesar never endured pain with patience.
@@CatholicCrusader__30 I guess that kind of proves his point then doesn’t it?
@@TheOfficialThundazz maybe or not, he never endured pain with patience. He executed all his enemies domestic or not soon as his victory was secured.
