    Hi Andy, Long time, no comment (from me). The past several weeks have been pretty hectic in my life so I only caught up with your recent videos just now. Firstly, congrats on the new ev. It looks impressive. Food for thought for us all there. Secondly, so sorry to hear about the dog and, of course, your mum. Hope she is doing well. However, great philosophy in always looking for 'the silver lining'.
    Hopefully I'll be less pressured and more attentive in looking out for your interesting and informative videos over the coming months!!

    Eagerly awaiting your videos. I pick my Ariya up on Tuesday Morning. Well done on coming up with a new twist of changing over to an all electric car.

      Thanks Mike. All the best for Tuesday! Very exciting. Spoiler alert - I'm loving mine and will have a full video on it coming on the channel later this month.

    Great video! I am waiting for my first EV Nissan Ariya as well and I am sure that I will me having the same starters issues as you had. Great Idea to film your last petrol fill! Did you already found out if the car has to be unlocked while charging?

      @TheRamblyChannel  Рік тому +1

      Hi @1Martinp Exciting! I'm sure you'll be the same as me and once you get to drive your new EV regularly you'll never go back to peterol or diesel. The car doesn't have to be unlocked when charging. It has to be unlocked to start or end the charge but you can lock it and go off for a cuppa (or in my case go back in the house) and leave it to it. 👍🏻

    Congratulations, Andy! I know zero about these things so I learned a lot even from that quick glimpse. Charging the car seemed a bit like me trying to figure out how to update the firmware on my phone. Yes, let's make everything in the world be like that.🤣Thanks for the look at your stunningly gorgeous new car (I once had a '72 Datsun 510 so I have good Nissan associations) and many happy miles!

      Thanks Eddie. It's a learning experience and I plan to show it all - even the parts that probably make me look like a fool! 😂 I once owned a Nissan Sunny back in the day (my only other previous Nissan) and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. Not remotely glamorous, but very reliable and enjoyable to drive. Thanks for watching!

    You surely can charge whilst locked otherwise you'll be waiting with your car at every public charger. I shall look forward to the explanation in a future video.

      You can lock it while you charge, of course. I'm just an idiot fumbling my through the new technology. 😆

    Congrats, that's a lot of Black paint to keep clean at this time of year😬

      The colour is green, although in some lights it looks black (the green is really dark). I'm not usually a fan of dark colours for exactly the reasons you state. This is the default colour - if you want anything else it costs an eyewatering amount to have something else. So suddenly, the dark colour didn't seem such a bad choice. 😁

    That last fossil fuelling is indeed a moment to savour. Enjoyed the authenticity of the haphazard attempt at first charge - rings some bells...

      Thanks Michael. I wanted to be completely honest with my experiences. Needless to say, my home charging experiences since I filmed that have been a good deal less eventful - just plug in and go inside and put the kettle on. There will be more of these videos as I begin my EV journey. I'm sure I'll look back in the future and roll my eyes at myself. Thanks for watching!

      I put the camera right up to the front of the car and it was heating the battery but most of the time you genuinely can’t hear a thing when it’s on charge

    I have a Tesla Model Y (I sent my Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo back as it was too low) and would NEVER go back to an ICE vehicle. I took mine to the South West of France for the festive season (Christmas & New Year) with no problems. If the future is electric, count me in!

      Great to hear about your journey to France in your EV. I'm looking forward to taking my first tentative steps out into the wider world in due course, tackling rapid chargers out and about. I'll be vlogging as I go! 😁

      That's great to hear! I have a small solar system so will struggle to get much out of it, but during the summer I'm hoping to get a few miles in there! I'm absolutely loving the EV - I have a follow up video coming out on 19 February with a full Ariya review. Thanks for watching! 😊

    I ordered my base model Ariya Gun Met Grey last Monday due July/August. My first EV so I’m looking on with interest to see how things go.
    Congratulations on your car by the way.

      Exciting to hear that John! I'll have a full Ariya video coming later this month. I've driven over 500 miles in mine so far so I've had time to get to know the car and hopefully give an honest view of my time with it to date. Look out for that video coming soon! Thanks so much for watching. 😊

      It is! Thanks for the re-tweet. I really appreciate that. I'm hoping to get the "proper" Ariya video out either this coming weekend or the following weekend - that's the plan. I still need to fit the camera inside the car, so it all hinges on whether I can work that out?! 🤪😂

    I’d quite like an EV, but I don’t have a driveway to charge it in. Is that a deal breaker do you think?

    • @Richard482
      @Richard482 Рік тому

      Yes. It's currently slightly more expensive to use public chargers than petrol stations.

    • @TheRamblyChannel
      @TheRamblyChannel  Рік тому

      Some people get away with charging at public charge points. I'm new to this EV game, however the calculations aren't as straight forward as it seems if you're trying to work out if it's cheaper than petrol to charge in that way. It's probably (at worst) about the same. I'm so early in my EV journey and I haven't even charged at a public rapid charger yet, so I'm definitely not the person to ask. My good friend Andy runs a channel called "Mr EV" and he knows a good deal more about this kind of thing, so do check him out. He made a video recently about charging at rapid chargers and has previous content about that subject too. I plan to make a rapid charger video myself in the next few weeks.
