A classic. Elegant, functional and fun! The nibs on these pens are wonderful, smooth and juicy. They are also easily swapped which is wonderful for a hobbyist..
The Lamy Al-Star is a great pen, fairy durable, lots of colors to choose from. I’m a bit partial, it was the first fountain pen I bought in person, it kind of was my gateway pen
I love the LAMY Safari and ALL-STAR pens and have owned a couple, including a now discontinued white. I currently own a yellow fountain pen & an Ocean Blue rollerball. Why do I love these pens? They are light to hold and very reliable writers! I recommended the fountain pen to a friend years ago.
My first fountainpen after becoming an architect was a Lamy. Bought in the Wien airport. It's the perfect fountainpen for a person starting the way of fountainpen. Each time I found a friend wanting to start writing with a fountainpen I direct him to Lamy. And then they can try other brands/design/system. You can never go wrong with a Lamy.
Thank you for this complete overview. The Lamy Al-Star is a fantastic versatile pen. More elegant than the Safari due to its sleek metal look, it’s perfect for work. It’s light and sturdy which makes it great for everyday carry. Plus it’s nibs are easy to exchange which makes it excellent for ink testing! The only hard part is picking a color! 😉
I love the satin sheen of the Al Stars. It gives an extra dimension to the colors and an added hint of maturity over the Safari while still retaining the fun and colorful personality.
I like the overall design of the Lamy Al-Star, specially talking about the variety of colours that it has. Lamy itself is a great fountain pen brand with overwhelming quality
What do I think of the AL-Star? In short, it's a wonderful pen: beautiful colors, durable and light. It's also a great writer. The nib is easy to change. It's simply a great pen.
I've used Lamy ink, but have not tried the pen yet. I would love to have one with a fine nib so that I can share my experience with the pen. Love the colors.
A Lamy Safari was my first fountain pen ten years ago. It was the start of a beautiful relationship and became the standard against which I judged other pens: value, ease of maintenance, fun to write with. The new collection seema to combine everything I have ever loved about Lamy with exciting new material and finishes. #freefountainpenfriday
So far I just have a Lamy Safari but I am looking forward to adding an AllStar as I love being able to change nibs plus I actually am a fan of the grip
Didn't realise that they had the word Germany on the pen. Didn't realise that the converter is not included until I made a purchase from Europe. In Malaysia, both Lamy converters and blue cartridge is included in the package. Will there be any other Europe Only Lamy limited editions coming out in 2021?
I was actually looking to buy a safari but after I heard that there is an aluminium version that is slightly heavier (like 4 grams?) it is a no brainer. Looks awesome. You might want to include some writing demos with some of the nibs. Yes it is the same as with any other Lamy pens that use the same nib but consider a person looking for a review of a particular pen and then there is your video with no writing demo...
I've never been that interested in the Safari family, partially because I've tried one and didn't like how it wrote (even though I love the 2000) but also because I'm older than the target group by quite a margin! The Turmaline however is tempting.
A few months ago I purchased the Al-Star Vibrant Pink with medium nib from a well known pen dealer in the US. I set it aside and didn’t pay much attention to it. Recently, I noticed the pen not only had been used but beat up, there were a ton of scratch marks all over the pen - when I went to try it out it was horrible! The nib was scratchy and I just didn’t think the feed was right. I was so angry!!!! I love the color and really want this pen but now can’t seem to find it anywhere - and now I’m skeptical about where I buy it from!!!! Is there anyway I can still purchase this pen - NEW and UNUSED???? Please advise. Thank you!
So sorry to hear this sad story. That is why you have to buy from us, to make sure you get the right product! Which color are you looking for? Perhaps we can help you out?
Nice content but the audio is too harsh to the ears .. please try to master the audio properly so that it is more well rounded and sweeter to listen to .. thank you for a wonderful display of Lamy pens.
I love the al-star for its reliability and ease of use, and it has a little something extra with the aluminium body, so it feels a little more professional than the Safari
I can't say it is my favourite pen, due my experience with Conid. But my girls love the Al-Star, so as a penfluencer I can only support this brand and model
I had a Safari that I unfortunately lost. I loved the way it wrote-nib was super smooth. But it leaked in the cap like crazy, and the cap didn’t secure well enough to ride in my pocket-I ruined a pair of pants to learn that lesson. Still, I would love to give the Al Star a shot! I am @shanecress on Insta. Thanks for your videos, Appelboom!
The perfect first fountain pen for penabling friends and family. Extremely reliable. I have 2 safaris and would like to step up to an AL next. The transparent section is great.
The Lamy AL star is a great pen, nice materials, colors and nibs, one of my favourite everyday carry pens ever!! Have a nice day!! Find me on IG @nello_pierangeli
I love the brilliant colors! I would love to win this collection to share my love of pens with friends and family since it’s such a great beginner pen! (gkschick112 on IG)

Thank you for showing the color difference in the Turmaline and the Pacific! I definitely 💙💚💙 the Turmaline!
Like those new metallic colours a lot. Our twins (9 years old) both got Safaris when they turned six. Classic stuff.
I love the great variation of colors of the Al-Star!
Love the Al-Star, one of my daily carries. It just works so well every time, love the grip, and the colours are magnificent
I loved seeing the colorful range of this Lamy line! A very informative video!

I like how colourful the Lamy fountain pens are. There is always one to match you outfit.

I love the sturdiness of the Al-Star. Also the available color options are just great for choosing a daily driver.

One of my favorite pens! And I lobe the colors (especially my rose gold)
I have an Al-Star and really enjoy using it. I love the transparent feed.
The Lamy Al-Star is simple, elegant and performs well. I love it.
Fantastic pens, loved them during my time at school and beyond!
Al Star is truly one of the best entry level fountain pens on the market... Probably the best
LAMY is a solid and affordable workhorse in my opinion. I have a few and they are reliable.
These will forever look modern and sleek along with all of the other pens in the Lamy portfolio. Both professional and fun!
Beautiful collection.
I love my Safari Lamy.

The AL-Star has a lovely sheen to the colours 😍 I think the Tourmaline colour would match quite well with Robert Oster's 'Fire & Ice' ink
What do I think of the AL-Star? In short, it's a wonderful pen: beautiful colors, durable and light. It's also a great writer. The nib is easy to change. It's simply a great pen.
Lovely set of pens 😍

Love my Safaris and would love to try the Al-star
Ha! Interesting history bits - thank you for sharing :)
The Al-Star was my very first pen, I got the ruby red edition. The cap on mine is loose now though.
I really like the aluminum body of the al-star and prefer it before the safari. I think it’s reliable and easy to switch nib.

TommyRepulsed we don’t do writing demo’s as each individual nib writes differently.
Very good informative review

The AL-Star feels much more substantial than the Safari. I have two, Charged Green and Bronze, to go with all of my LX's!

There needs to be a cyberpunk violet color!
