I have learned to become a true front end dev because of the principles that you have taught. Occasionaly I have to work with clients that use the "other" builders, and even then the principles I learned helped me. I can debut, problem solve, and struture websites correctly. My web design sales coach convinced me that it doesn't matter what page builder you use as long as you get results for business owners. Maintainability and scalability is far from sexy but it's up to us to show the value of what we do to our clients. From now on, I'll follow the best practices for my own sanity and for my clients' peace of mind.
They protect their ego and project emotional stress (trauma) And use this given topic to do so. Very irresponsible and socially unintelligent. Pulls "everyone" down and potentially triggers others. Watching this video inspired me to make the jump to Bricks Builder. I was using Elementor for 3 years and feeling all the time many things we're missing. The slowness, the bloat on the page with the constant feeling of hitting walls in terms of what could be done was despairing. Also was sensing the more the content grew the thougher was to mantain the website. One month ago, I did the jump and you're videos we're the lighthouse to get out of that doomed land. The transition was so much easier that what I antecipated. My website became 5x faster and many walls falled showing new possibilites. I'm excited again with building and Page Building 101 was definetily essential to the transition. Thank you Kevin

Thanks Kevin. I fully agree with your advice. Page builders are just the tools of the trade. We as the professional web designers must stick to professional standards and workflows, which can be different for different people but they will have the same solid foundation. Tools come and go, may be tomorrow some other tool comes forward that does the job more professionally. So, we should always be open minded to accept that something better is available than what we use now. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for this. I was just on the ledge to jump from Elementor to Bricks. But my workflow is based on Elementor and it's already shaping a solid course, so I think it's best to keep on mastering Elementor and the current workflow, then moving to Bricks. It feels like I'm going against some of what you've said in the video and, if I had gotten to this video when it was released, I surely would have chosen Bricks from the very beginning instead, but now, considering the moment my business is at, I think it's all about mastering the processes as they're as of now, also considering Elementor checks most of the boxes you presented at the necessary features part. Still, the full-scope functionalities Bricks offers, along with the lifetime deal, compels me so much to hurry the move..
@@Gearyco I too think it would be better to get into Bricks instead. But this is just not feasible for my business at the moment... Right now I can't afford to stop the workflow, learn lots of stuff again to then implement a new process into the workflow or to rework the whole thing and only then get business back on the move, since every process, project and client demands my full attention. Thank you for taking the time to create these videos! We need this information; I love builders. I literally own them all 😂 but there are page principles I forget sometimes. You, the inner circle ⭕️, have reminded me of the basics. Professional page layouts, easy customization, + scalability.
Like in any profession. You need to know the basics. If I do not know how a combustion engine works, you can't run a professional car repair shop even if you would use the best Snap-On wrench there is. If I do not know what flex and CSS-Grid and so on is and how it works, I can not be a professional web designer regardless the tools I use. A page builder should just be a helper for accomplishing things that you otherwise would have to develop yourself. But you need to know what's under the hood -pun intended. In the past we used Elementor even for big projects (250k up). But the more we use it, the more we realise, it is not a professional tool and never will be. Page loading times up to 6 seconds (first paint). Really not professional. So, we're about to change.

The new sound panels help a ton, great upgrades, sort of looks like you got yourself a new Sony mirrorless camera too, maybe the vid quality just seems better on this one.
A "professional" according to your definition will not use a page builder. And he will charge millions. ;) I started creating websites as a non-developer with Elementor pro, because the page builder was the easiest to use. Gradually I learned HTML and CSS and noticed the problems you mention in the videos. I also tried Webflow briefly and it's a great tool, but it wasn't GDPR compliant. Then when I used Oxygen it was really an eye-opener to see how good a page builder can be. Since I need dynamic data and as a non-developer I can't (yet) deal with ACF and because of the uncertain future, I don't want to use Oxygen anymore. For Dynamic Data I use JetEngine because it is more understandable for me and the support is really outstanding. Fortunately, two main JetEngine plugins are compatible with Bricks, so I will use Bricks in the future. I just hope that Bricks will switch to annual pricing because otherwise the business model might not be sustainable, just like Oxygen. Thanks for the awesome videos and especially for the 20 criteria!
This guy is the Jocko of Wordpress; or, more accurately, the Moses to lead us out of the desert that has become WP design workflow, and into the Promised Land. When he talks about "Signal vs. Noise" at the end here, that's the effin truth. He's really the only signal I've found in WP design land. Lot's of great guys on the dev ops side; but on the design side, it's a desert .... until now. Follow the signal.

Question: I watched a tutorial from you, explaining the difference between sections, containers, and a div block, and I also watched a Webflow tutorial on the same topic suggesting that they are all basically divs. If they are all divs, then what does it matter whether they are named separately like in Webflow and Bricks, or are just named containers like in Elementor? If you can address this in the forthcoming videos that be great.
They are different. Very high level: a section is labeled such in HTML, therefore it is not a div. One could argue that a container and a div are the same because they both carry the div tag in HTML (in Kevin's example), but where they differ is in what they do out of the box in the builder. These differences save time in development. A container in Elementor vs Brick/Webflow are very different when it comes to what they do out of the box and the output on the front end. For example in bricks, if you add a container to a blank page and inspect, you see 1 div (with a class = container that gives it some pre-established styling) in Elementor you will get multiple divs outputted which is not semantic HTML.
Hopefully the next lections will be less yaddayaddayadda iphone photo. Don't let this lesson hang alone too long... and if you talk about 20 points of anything it could be useful to show them in writing. 🙃
I have to say, you hurt my feeling. Shitting all over my favourite builder like this... well anyways... I'll stay with Bricks. :D JK ... you got me hooked like with your every single video. I was a total noob using elementor not even knowing a single thing but I'm learning on the go with you and have to say. Every page I make is uncomparable to the previous one. And it feels great and it's thanks to you and your tools like ACSS.
Actually, photography is a good example, but let it be said, the person behind the camera takes the picture, not the camera. Having the right perspective, right "frame" you want to freeze on camera makes a photographer a professional. And most photos today getting retouched in Photoshop, Camera Raw and so on. Nobody uses their photos was they being taken. Remember old times, when there was no digital camera existing, the photographer had to use all their brain cells to think before shoot. So with this being said, a web developer picks the builder matching his knowledge. Sadly, that is not often helpful if you had known better before. And it matters individual what you want, do want to improve, do you just want to play around, do you have a business with what you do. Only if you asked this yourself, you know where you belong and want to go for the future.
@@PicSta True, but what we have as a result is very stunning photography because the pros are even better once they manipulate their photos. IMO. It's all just art. We're just looking at enhanced art now instead of raw art. There's a great place for both.

If you want all the 201+ content, join the Inner Circle. Courses aren't always the best way to learn. Once you know the fundamentals, it becomes more about spot learning rather than doing more courses.
I know you're a true professional but the term you have used throughout the video doesn't make sense. You're talking about becoming a professional 'Web Developer', not a 'Web Designer'. Design starts with UX & ends with UI. It has nothing to do with how you're building the website
Yeah it does … you have to learn to use the terms clients use. Clients consider everyone a web designer. The industry is literally called “web design.”
I respectfully disagree with your point of view. Kevin's video clearly and concisely gets to the heart of what we need - I don't care what you call it, "dev" or "designer," it doesn't matter, we are the ones who create the website. The way we build the website will directly create the result that the UI is the visual part (what they see on the screen) and the UX is their experience when browsing.
In his 18-minute video for 17 minutes, he keeps saying professional page builder, not professional page builder, professional page builder, not a professional page builder 🥲

I would say that’s a mistake. The sooner people ditch elementor the better. It’s holding you back.

I started creating websites as a non-developer with Elementor pro, because the page builder was the easiest to use.
Gradually I learned HTML and CSS and noticed the problems you mention in the videos.

Where does Shopify and ecom platforms fall under professional tool vs amateur tool
I haven't used them extensively, so I don't know. But, Shopify violates my rule of "don't build businesses on other people's land."

I use elementor pro but I think, its time to change to bricks but I need wait for crocoblock(lifetime licence) to they create plugins for bricks.
Why? Most of us don't use Crocoblock. Why would you need to at any cost?

Excited for this course. I am actually surprised it is even free tbh. I hope this series is great and that he's got an even more detailed course that we can buy that is using a real course platform, that'd be epic.
If you want all the 201+ content, join the Inner Circle. Courses aren't always the best way to learn. Once you know the fundamentals, it becomes more about spot learning rather than doing more courses.

I know you're a true professional but the term you have used throughout the video doesn't make sense. You're talking about becoming a professional 'Web Developer', not a 'Web Designer'. Design starts with UX & ends with UI. It has nothing to do with how you're building the website
Yeah it does … you have to learn to use the terms clients use. Clients consider everyone a web designer.
The industry is literally called “web design.”

I respectfully disagree with your point of view. Kevin's video clearly and concisely gets to the heart of what we need - I don't care what you call it, "dev" or "designer," it doesn't matter, we are the ones who create the website. The way we build the website will directly create the result that the UI is the visual part (what they see on the screen) and the UX is their experience when browsing.
