@@NathanCarterVids i mean Dc comics flash or bad Boys a train
Thank you for this tutorial and for the free asset! One thing isn't working for me though and I can't figure it out - when I put the laser effect on the video track above the main scene, it doesn't layer over the top, it only shows a black background instead. I feel like I must be missing a step? Do you know what im doing wrong?
@@EmiOfTheCentury ahh there's your problem. MP4 don't do just alpha channels as far as I know. Try a different format. I tend to get PNG sequences from there
@@NathanCarterVids 100% correct. Now what if I have a timeline grade rather than a clip grade? The clip has some color correction, but I applied a "look" to the entire timeline of multiple clips. Will that be maybe why I'm not seeing the timeline grade applied on the clip and may only be seeing the color correction I did?
@@KamKalambay ahh I think I see the problem. So your timeline node graph is later on in the chain. If you grade at the clip level then you'll get the desired result.
Totally fair critisim. This is kinda why I moved away from VFX heavy tutorials. I don't work with it as often as colour and general editing, so I always felt these tutorials were messy and more "follow me" than actually teaching a deeper understanding of the concepts.
Fusion is a difficult program to learn. I can do a lot of basic stuff… But it just seems very convoluted compared to after effects. But of course I’ve been using AfterAffects for 10 years and fusion for less than one year. But I do wanna learn more about fusion. No hurry, but I’ll get there.
Yikes! This is so convoluted I can’t believe it. It would be so much easier to do in afteraffects. The only thing that fusion does better than after affects is tracking. But if you have mocha and know how to use it it’s just as good. I could do this in half the time and there’s no merge nodes to try to figure out how those work. They should change the name of Fusion and call it Convolution.
Certainly a possibility… But I will match my resume against yours any day, and my bank account against yours any day. Someone who is so sensitive to criticism should not be allowed to be a teacher. Maybe you need some enlightening.
I totally get yah. Coming from a layer based system to a node bases system takes time and it's a bit of a learning curve. I find some things faster in fusion, but some things are certainly faster in after effects. Just to clarify though, that was someone else who commented earlier, not me.
I'm back and with a new studio setup. Still a work in progress, but let me know what you think. Also what effect do you want me to cover next?
Hello Nathan, maybe this Snow Effect from After Effects in DaVinci/Fusion ? ua-cam.com/video/ZOebT3FIdhM/v-deo.html

@ yeah they have that effect like on the CW's flash on there
@@NathanCarterVids ok thx
HAHAHAH des Skit is funny. You should put that at the Start XD
thanks. I never know where in the video to put that stuff. I try off the top next time. Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it.
Woooow....😱

What kind of file did you download

"lens reflexions" is no longer part of the free version on resolve 19 so i can't quite get the right result
thank you!
No worries. I'm happy you found it useful.
So I am trying this but when I shift+drag the planar tracker motion node over to the paint, it doesn't apply the paint to the frames? Nothing happens.
ah, i didn't set the paint to normal stroke.
How's the 35mm meike?
Huge fan. Wasn't used in this video at all, but for its price it's a pretty impressive little lens
when I compound the clip, it brings it into Fusion but with no grading...
Yes. Thought I covered that in this video, but maybe not. To keep the grading inside of fusion you want to create a compound clip beforehand.
@@NathanCarterVids I did, from my Timeline tab I selected the clip, right clicked, created a compound clip, went to fusion, flat image still
@@KamKalambay So you graded the clip, then made it a compound clip, then brought into fusion, in that order and it didn't work?

THIS EFFECT NOT FREE
The paint tool in fusion isn't free anymore?
@@NathanCarterVids The lens reflect isn't free anymore :( in resolve 17.
great tutorial up until the last half and then it becomes a mess to follow. you have to see your method through the eyes of a student.

the swallowing is just horrendous
the "left eye paint" node doesn't work, there's no paint
what happened? i checked the stroke thingy too
