So true what you said about the trains and also pacing yourself. Japan's railway system is just amazing. Also, I learned from our first trip there this past Spring not to over-pack my itinerary for each day because that was just exhausting to do daily. On our next trip in winter, we're actually planning on going to Kamakura and Enoshima as well, but I split them up into 2 days so we can actually take our time and enjoy each place, enjoy the food, and shrines, etc. Thanks for this walk and it's nice to see how the Ace Pro performed.
Yes! So important not to rush. Japan is A LOT. Even if you've been a few times like I have. i need to programme in rest time, because my automatic inclination is to overpack my schedule. So, I've learned to just do 3 things MAX per day. And even then to build in slower paced days.
packed video with a small camera - well done! I really like the Ace Pro. Used it for a portion of my son's outdoor wedding in the mountains of Colorado, in conjunction with a Lumix full frame - no regrets. Running back and forth up and down mountain trails to film bridge and groom prior to first looks was a real blessing with this small camera. I can imagine what a relief it must be to just have this one small camera on an intimate trip that you'd like to record some personal memories on.
Man I’m having a hard time between this and the new action 5 ! I want a small camera to film in lower light and mixed light like malls, shops, and evening walks. I hope you review the action 5 pro soon and compare it to the ace pro!
I sure enjoy these! Great stuff. Quick question, were you just walking and holding the Ace Pro in your hand the whole time? Or did you have a small tripod or stick/pole attached to hold it by? And how did you do the pull-back Timeshift shot at @14:43 ? That was spectacular! Wonderful shot!
Thank you. Hand held at the point where I say I'm switch to internal mics in video. And the timelapse is an auto effect generated by the app - 'dynamic timelapse' - it generates 4 styles you can choose from.
What is max res this should be watchable in? UA-cam mobile keeps bouncing from 480-240 surprisingly still watchable in 480 Thank you, I'll test on laptop later with solid signal Loving the rebrand focus
Thank you - thought carefully about the rebrand / refocus, and glad you appeciate it - thanks for saying so! Should be 4K - I just viewed it in 4K on a different computer here. Glad it looks watchable on mobile in 480p though!
That timelapse on the train was awesome. I'm thinking of picking up a GO3 black for vlogging. I dont want to stick out like a sore thumb; not as confident as you and others 😂 If you had to pick a single camera to take with you from the insta line up, which would it be?
Confidence comes with practice, believe me! I was not confident at all vlogging in public - I still pick my moments. I have my lightweight vlogging guide coming out very soon - stay tuned!
Nice vid. The Ace Pro is surly a champ. I don't think the viewer really cares how you hold the camera. Whatever is most comfortable for the operator works for me. I prefer to have a mini handle of some sort so my fat fingers are not covering the mic.
good Idea re: mini handle - I didn't pack mine with me for Japan, but I think it might force it's way into my precious travel bag next time - and thank you!
Great travelogue. I bought an Ace Pro, and so far it has proven to be a pretty big disappointment for my use case. If you ever fancy a coffee at Maranui to compare notes, let me know :)
That’s a shame. What is your use case? Bit busy over the next couple of weeks making content before my next trip but hopefully get some time around the start of next month. Coffee sounds good!
I use a LOT of different cameras. But I really enjoy using action cameras when traveling light, or when I’m in the water. I’m in Lyall Bay and I’m in the water there often. I picked up the Ace Pro after doing my homework because I thought I’d see significant gains over my GoPros (amongst other devices). As someone who shoots both video and stills I was really disappointed when I brought the .dng files into Lightroom. Compared to GoPro the files whilst higher resolution are much softer, and the lens is way worse on the edges. Not only that but Pureview is baked in on the RAW files and it really destroys image detail. I could go on, but maybe when you are in the Bay I’ll show you some examples. There are some real wins with the Ace Pro but it’s not quite the device everyone is claiming it to be.

@@PocketCams Yes! It's astounding how much Japan has to offer.

Are you using an external mic or just the way she native ace pro mics?
Hi - I do say in the video exactly when I change from external wireless mic to using just the internal mics :)

The problem with the Ave Pro is not being in focus. Vloggers are not in focus, but the background is.
I don’t find that to be a serious issue
