These videos are magical: and they also break my heart. As a young gay man trying to make sense of my place within this world seeing these vibrant and individual characters create such a strong family in NY makes me want to be part of something like it.
I really like these videos. It gives people a look inside the lives of people that paved the way. Also I'm sure this is why alot of gays have moved to new York over the years because it's a big family there and they all except one another and have each other's back unlike when people come from these small town with bullies. I see one or two of my sons moving there.
I know this has been said in other videos of Nelson’s but why on earth has someone not made a documentary about him? Surely someone must want to do this? Hell I want to do it. It’s fascinating and would be a hell of a lot better than half the garbage on Netflix.

Nelson’s videos make me wish I had a time machine.. it was a whole different world. Everyone was living in the moment and not on some smartphone. Everyone was authentic. Makes today seem so dark
looking at these comments is... well. some are beautifully nostalgic but so many are about how "ugly" Amnesia is or being transphobic or making gross comments about the epidemic. Support "ugly" drag, support "ugly" trans women, support AIDS victims. Uplift one another's voices. We are all human.
I don't know if this makes sense, but there was such a natural positive energy back then. It's not defensive & chaotic like it is today. People were unapologetically themselves & just lived! Now, it's "THIS IS ME, LOOK AT ME, YOU WILL ACCEPT ME!!! ME ME ME!" we need that old, positive, loving REAL & TRUE united energy.
While I’m heterosexual these videos for me are a rare example of the mid and late 80’s that were so magical for me. It’s amazing no one has made a documentary about Nelson’s life.

I came up from NC for this event. I was 23 and it was a scary time. We marched because we were dying, had few rights and felt we had nothing to lose. The movement was visceral and important. Many of the men in that parade were dead a few years later. We were a community because no one else would have us. We chose our family because our parents threw us out. Young gay people today should enjoy their freedoms but never ever forget the pain, grief and death it took to get James Charles on UA-cam!!
Long Live the Republic Where All Citizens Are Created Equal.
So true (a)
you lost me at James Charles, is that really our greatest accomplishment? Come on, do better
@@lazyboyzno he’s saying that people like the ones in this parade paved the way for gay men to thrive. James Charles is trash, but he wouldn’t have a career if not for these other gay men!
The community at the time was so close, everywhere you turned, there was someone else you knew and couldn't wait to chat with. These days everyone is too busy looking at their phones like zombies. Can't express enough how much I miss these times. 😔
Cell phones destruyed so many social skills this days :(
I guess you are spitting fact! I don't know why but I think people are more avoiding people as the eras by
Trade walking around with his magazine in hand showing it to the men to get laid! Phahaha
He did have a nice body!
He was a beautiful man. Look at the admiring glances he gets from other guys in the crowd!
Showing off that big old boner in the magazine! I was always curious what his cock looked like!
Allen Oberhem was he a porn star?
You can read the issue at outweek(dot)net advert is in issue 1 on page 65
What is his full name?
It’s so awesome that during this time u don’t have cellphones but Nelson just bumps into ppl and u recognize it’s your friend and everyone is like oh heyyyy lol. Kinda refreshing that u go about things on a whim.
He is Famous. Sometimes it takes Time. So glad he did this. What a Genius 💜💎🦄
Vlogging before it was vlogging. I'm not gay but I'm a safe person. I accept anyone for who they are. I wish a lot more people would accept people for who they are.
I Love Nelson and all his videos ! I feel like I’m in a VR with him and his tribe ! It’s amazing to realize he’s been gone for 30 years but yet I miss him with out ever meeting or knowing him . He’s such a like-able human being ! ❤️🙌🏻🎉🌹
these videos are making me tear up so much, it really is a time capsule. the fact that this one was filmed less than a week before nelson died is pretty chilling
I'm actually in this video at around 12:11 red shirt.....lmao.
Sara Rhiannon are you really???
yes I am
Are you in the red shirt on the sidelines with that nifty mustache?
Nevermind, I think you were in the distance on the other side, correct? Either way that is so cool you were there! Too bad Nelson died so young!
LOL yes that would be me
Nelsons videos always make me homesick for a New York that stopped existing a long time ago.
No phones everyone is just enjoying each other and talking to each other I lived in this era best time of my life!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nelson’s videos make me wish I had a time machine.. it was a whole different world. Everyone was living in the moment and not on some smartphone. Everyone was authentic. Makes today seem so dark
Thanks for that amazing video . Enjoyed every second of it !
nelson so beautiful inside and out xxoo :)
He is!!
Yeah he was
looking at these comments is... well. some are beautifully nostalgic but so many are about how "ugly" Amnesia is or being transphobic or making gross comments about the epidemic. Support "ugly" drag, support "ugly" trans women, support AIDS victims. Uplift one another's voices. We are all human.
rest well nelson so sweet so loving so careing so funny
I love this channel
13:27 Bill Cunningham is taking our picture. It's impossible to understand the importance of what Nelson documented.
bach1750 which bill

I don't know if this makes sense, but there was such a natural positive energy back then. It's not defensive & chaotic like it is today. People were unapologetically themselves & just lived! Now, it's "THIS IS ME, LOOK AT ME, YOU WILL ACCEPT ME!!! ME ME ME!" we need that old, positive, loving REAL & TRUE united energy.
I get so excited everytime lahoma shows up!!!!
This is the only video footage I’ve seen of Nelson!
What a beautiful artist!
Nelson and RuPaul both Look so Amazing! Omg if only I could have been there!!!!
These videos are amazing. It’s like going back in time.
Trade was so HOT. He should have tried to make as much money as he could during his youth.
He died of AIDS in 91
While I’m heterosexual these videos for me are a rare example of the mid and late 80’s that were so magical for me. It’s amazing no one has made a documentary about Nelson’s life.
Nelson is so funny especially in this one, I swear he reminds me of Gloria Swanson looking into the camera like in Sunset Boulevard , staring at the camera for her close up! This is so funny!
Jeanie coudriet now that you say that, I can totally see that. Nelson captures it.
Yes he’s so comical when he’s does that lol especially when he calls out to his friend Dick while staring in the camera 😂
Today is Nelson's anniversary . Rest In Peace. We love your footage in 2021.
"Hi gorgeous. Who are you? Was he fucking me?" 🤣🤣 Serving Amnesia perfection!
RIP Nelson ❤
