I'm in Australia and can't seem to find a website to purchase the battle born 12v 100ah. Is there any other batteries that are equivalent and of same quality that I can purchase here in Oz? I'm doing a 48v system and will be wiring them up in series. Any suggestions? 🤔 Thanks.
Hello WIll. Great video. Could you share a closeup picture of how the positive terminal is secured inside the actual case? At 3:18 on the video it shows but not very clear. Looks like two nuts, one on top of the other one i guess locking it? Thank you in advance.

Ok, I've got to admit that these batteries have a damn good build quality, engineering and design...I'm really impressed !!! Prior to seeing this tear down I wasn't sure if Battle Born batteries were worth the money but this video tear down has convinced me that they are. It makes me SO happy to see a quality product being produced in the USA. I hope to be able to get one of my own someday. Thanks for the excellent review Will... thumbs-up !
Joe Saltzman I think you could safely say "assembled", but produced? Cells, made in China, BMS made in China, etc. Assembled by American workers. The world is a confusing place. :-D ;-)

I purchased three of the golf cart replacement batteries for my electric tractor. This video is what made me comfortable paying for what should be an excellent value in the long run. I was going through a set of trolling motor batteries every two years. Since buying these I have been mowing with a huge smile on my face. Grateful for a thorough teardown with excellent commentary.

I purchased a Battle Born back in September after doing quite a bit of research. Much of that research involved watching your videos, reading your book and visiting your website. You were a large part of the reason I went with BB when I purchased my first LiFePO4 battery for my trailer. So far its worked beyond my expectations. Seeing this teardown video reaffirms I made the right decision. Thanks for the work you do. Thank you so much for this video! I've been a happy battle born battery owner for over 2 years for my solar setup and spending $950 on a battery was not an easy decision at the time of buying it. Thanks for the tear down. I always like to see what's inside anything that I buy. Even if you don't necessarily understand all of the technology, opening it up will always reveal the quality (or lack of) of the components and the level of care that the manufacturer takes on their product.

I was very glad to see this tear down. After watching the previous tear downs of the low-end and medical-quality batteries, I was really wondering how one of these mid-high level commercial batteries would fair once shown naked for all to see. It does certainly appear that when it comes to batteries, there seems to be some truth in "you get what you pay for."

Clear case with some blue LEDs that pulse slowly when a load is applied. I would buy two for the cool factor.
There was a install I saw yesterday(wish I could remember the channel name..but he did an amazing job and Yes He has Blue LED lights that come on when you open the access panel. I will try and find it for you.

I just purchased 2 BB's from Northern Arizona solar and wind and added them to the 2 I had purchased months ago to my RV. 900 a piece the best price I have found . I spoke to Luis who had a lot of knowledge about BB 's as well as inverters and solar. Glad to see the tear down as it is making me feel a little better on my decision. Thanks for the video.

Me too, but my system will start out as primarily generator charged (lots of tall trees around my Alaska cabin).
@@kameljoe21 that's not the correct way to look at it. They choose the components they use and so choosing a BMS that has that kind of wiring as their specification speaks to the Quality they intended to build into the battery. In manufacturing if you're always trying to save a few pennies eventually it shows in the quality of the product you output. That's why the higher end companies have better reputations because they actually build in quality from the start rather than economy. And again that's not to say that economy is bad but if you can choose a have your gauge wire for a few pennies more and a battery that costs over nine hundred bucks that really doesn't make sense to use the cheaper option
@@mycarolinaskies not necessarily true, look at how Honda never put a switch on the dash for their dome light because they wanted to save that copper wire, and you couldn't buy their hydrogen powered stuff, only leased because they wanted all of that non-corrosive gold back.

@Timothy Mckee NAFTA specifies a max foreign content of products that are allowed to be traded between NAFTA members without taxing. It's not a free for all to import Chinese goods like you seem to say. Chinese goods are only as good as the company specs. So blame the companies. I tend to stay away from American products based on hawkish attitudes like you just demonstrated. The way the USA has treated her allies is despicable. 2x Afghan CAF vet.

Well,....the question of which is the best battery for your solar system has been answered. Your energy and enthusiasm is FANTASTIC. Many thanks Will, you are a great and trustworthy educator.
You can buy acrylic sheets and solvent to "weld" the pieces together and build your own clear case. There's a place in Las Vegas called Welch Plastics that does custom acrylic box fabrication. You could bring the old case to them and have them build you a replacement if you didn't want to build it yourself.
Or he could ask Battle Born for one. 🤔

I am So glad I bought my Battleborn battery last week, 1 day before Will did this tear down. It's due to arrive 11/21/19. I have a feeling this video sold a lot of batteries. Now I know I made the right choice. Thanks Will, keep up the good fight.

Yup, it was cool to see the individual cells and how they put them together at their new factory. It looked very solidly glued at the factory, no wonder Will had a hard time taking the battery case apart.
