I remember buying this wonderful 12" when I was on a holiday from London in New York back in '81. I loved it instantly as it had the same cutesy offbeat as Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's 'Cherchez La Femme' had, from a few years earlier. I remember finding out later that Ray Martinez was the producer and a he not a she. I still don't know who supplied the sublime vocals to this track. She sounds very Cory Daye from Dr Buzzard, which was probably the intention. I've never heard it play anywhere else apart from New York's clubs & radio back then but I've always played it regularly ever since! It's a real disco gem!!
I was at the same spot, thought I'd heard it all . Then I heard Armant , if there's love . Had to do some digging , and I wound up here ! Looks like I found gold !
What a treat to find this great song! I never noticed it before now, if I ever heard it. I thought I knew most all the great tunes of those days, so fun to find another good one. Thanks!
This was a huge hit back in the day. In the gay dance clubs of NYC this was usually a start track of morning music (slower dance track set) of lower BPM dance track to wind down from the high energy music.
Awesome by master Ray Martinez
