Before, the Liberal Democrats and Communist both had very charismatic and vocal leaders, one died from Covid, the other one retired, so the opposition is basically voiceless. Not to mention sanctions and western aid to Ukraine only helped Putin, suddenly his narative was right. Most Russians who don't support him, around 20 percents, simply didn't go to vote.
I'm continuously nonplussed at how weird this ritualistic walk is. Like the camera finds him "hard at work" reading a newspaper, and then he takes this slow ass walk, pausing to stare at random paintings (like he couldn't care less that thousands of people are waiting for him at the ceremony), pretending not to see the camera, and then takes the world's shortest car ride to the building next door. It's so bizarre to see as an outsider.
