What's The Difference Between The *NEW* Minelab Equinox 700 and 900 Metal Detectors?

- Minelab has been making a lot front page news lately with their latest revitalization effort to upgrade one of their best selling metal detector, their Equinox. The Equinox has been one of Minelab's best selling metal detectors in recent years. So why change a good thing you might ask? The answer is simple. Why not make a really good detector even better?
Lets be honest, while the Equinox revolutionized the metal detector industry with its Multi-IQ technology, it also had its share of flaws. However, Minelab saw the opportunity to make their beloved Equinox even better and that is exactly what they set out to do. Is it really better? The verdict is still out but early tests are showing positive results. But what's the difference between the Equinox 700 and 900? What do you get for your money? In this video we'll be taking a look at the tech specs Minelab released for the Equinox 700 and 900. By the time we are done we should have a better idea what we are getting that we aren't getting with the other. I hope this helps some of you determine which version is best for you. Let me know what you think. Are you getting one of these detectors?

Nice video, I'm extremely interested in purchasing either the 700 or 900. Minelab just upgraded the best selling detector, the Equinox and just made it better. Go Minelab
Chuck Fort Bedford is waiting for your call. Good luck my friend!
The 900 has a little more to tweak with. Like the 800 did over the 600. I got the 600 like it a lot. But I also would have liked to tweak the setting more. SO for a few yrs I have been kicking myself for not buying the 800. While out using the 600 and still finding good stuff.. Either way If I was to buy a New detector it is a toss Up for either waiting a little longer saving up for the Manticore or waiting a shorter time for the 800. Still pondering the thought as I would like to see more videos on live digs in all the Modes.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some of those videos out for you soon ;-) If it were me, I would save up a little longer and go for the Manticore.
Great job!!!! Thank you for the orientation!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video I have a 700 coming. Will be a nice upgrade over the Vanquish 540 Pro Pack I am sure. Now when I get permissions the homeowner can hunt too.
Thats a great idea and yes this will be a big upgrade that I think you will enjoy. Good luck.
Merril for the Pulitzer 🏆
LOL I saw his video today.
I enjoy Merrill’s videos immensely! If Tomorrow’s new Garrett Detector debut is a flop, I will be all on board following his XP ambassadorship!
I here there not going to offer the Vetern discount do you know if this true received a Vetern discount on my nox 800.Great vid.Thanks.
Confirmed with Fort Bedford "They're eligible once a year per Minelab's policy with a dd214 or equivalent
@@MentalMetal Thanks for reply
very welcome!
I went with the Nox 600, because where I’m from I don’t need Prospecting mode or any of the other extra features, so I’m going to go with the Nox 700. For now, my Nox 600 is doing fine so far. I do both dirtfishin and water detecting and my first Nox 600 unfortunately took in water. If and when my 600 fails me again, the Nox 700 will be my next purchase. I do have the Nokta Legend, but I enjoy both. Thanks for the 700/900 comparison. _/ 👍
Awesome thank you.
Hey I am getting ready to buy either a nox 700 or the legend. I am mostly a relic hunter and was wondering which one would be better. Which one hits consistently deeper?
Like a lot of folks, you failed to explain the search frequencies properly. The 700 and 900 both have 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 kHz frequencies. The real difference is that the 700, just like to 600, cannot run in single freq mode in 20 and 40 kHz. Both those freqs are available and running in multi-frequency mode. Secondly, "Sensitivity" does not equate to power. The coil does not push more or less power when you raise or lower Sensitivity.
I pinned a comment and addressed the freqs. Yes I know I forgot the 4 kHz gesh
Excellent video, really lays it out. I decided to get the 900, I called Fort Bedford and got on the list early.
Very nice!
Definitely not going to baby my 600 around water anymore while it's still under warranty. Hoping they would replace a flooded 600 with a 700 if I were to send in under warranty. Maybe that's a pipe dream, but I won't hold back going forward like I did this Fall. Thanks for the breakdown on the 700/900's.
Happy to help. Good luck.
Great video! Thanks for the info! Very helpful! 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hello mental, let me start with I currently do NOT own an equinox. I am leaning heavily toward the 900 though. My final decision will be based on manticore. Is the manticore much more of a detector then 900? Anyhoot my friend making comment is: if there were so many issues with the “ other equinox “ coils snapping off at ears…. Who cares if they fit the 900 , why would you want to use them
For your first question yes it is much more. Its on another level. As far as your friends comment, he needs to look at the way they've reconstructed the lower shaft on both the new Equinox and Manticore. There shouldn't be any issues moving forward. Who cares he asks? Well, I for one don't want to buy another set of coils if the ones I have will already work. I have the 10x5 Coiltek and I love it. I happy that it will work with the new Nox as well. Kind of a no brainer to me. I hope that helps. Thanks for asking.
Is the wireless module of the 800 compatible with the 900 ??
It is not
What I find interesting is $400 price difference, but you get an extra $200 coil with the 900 (a coil that no one liked) so really there's only a $200 difference between the 700 / 900....
I like your math skillz Tedy. Going back to camp this year or are you done?
@Mental Metal well you know how cold it's gets there....ground will be frozen soon I'm guessing....probably done for the year unless there's a little warm spell coming?
You can dig in the woods well into Feb up there. Especially where we want to go.
@@MentalMetal well let me know when you want to go....it'll be worth the trip just to see your new toy.....
will that shaft work on the 800
Not sure Randy when they come out we'll have to take a deeper look.
Are you saying the 600 can't find gold? Why.
No that is not what I'm saying. It doesn't have the "Gold" search program that is used in highly mineralized soil but it will find gold regardless of having that search profile. Its just an extra search mode that is included on the 800 and 900 but not on the 600 or 700.
700 and 800 which one is good sir?
They both are.
Hi, you have a good style! LIKE!
Hey, thanks!
Thanks for the information. Your store is located where on PA. I am looking to buy the 900. I am close to Cumberland MD. My email is in my about page.
Thanks for sharing 👍👍
I dont have a store but I get all my gear from Fort Bedford Metal Detectors. Call John Page 814-215-1732.
According to another source, Minelab is the number one money maker for its parent company whose shares and revenue are declining substantially. Hence the rush to generate income.
Your source being Merrill's video.
61% say' it all when Nokta came out with the Legend and Simplex all the detector companies had to get off the pot, time will tell if the 700 and the 900 helps,it may if Nokta doe's not throw another detector on the market, which more than likely they will they are not going to set there on their thumb
Their build quality is better and I tip my hat to that and I for the most part like their machines and if they help bring down the price of others I'm all for it. But as far as revolutionizing the market they have a ways to go. Just my opinion.
Ummm....no.
NOTKA COPIES MINELAB..FOR YEARS
Deus 11 all the way. Waterproof and no broken coil lugs
Love your passion my friend but they all have their flaws. I do love my D2 as well!
looks like a company is short of money ,and decided to fill the market at xmas to keep them floating .
ahh yes the Merrill video... LOL.
@@MentalMetal yes that is why i wrote it ,
it was an interesting and entertaining video.
A: 200
Well played :-)
Glorified 600 and 800....ALL NOXs ARE WELL OVERPRICED...
I think fixing the water issues, adding a carbon fiber shaft, new handle, red backlight, higher sensitivity is a little more than a glorified 600 and 800 but thats my opinion.
The 700 is not worth the price . I have one and I am not impressed. I'm sticking with Nokta .
