My listening to Pat Musi with concern for Nitrous applications has enlightened me and clearly proven that he and his team at the shop are one of the very best in the business. Race engine development at the highest level. Continued success Pat and Family.
50 years dedicated knowledge, PRICELESS !!!! You better listen and thank him. Mr Pat , I was around when you were buying 1000 Venolia's at a time from old man Prock
Pat has been THE MAN when it comes to nitrous & nitrous motors. I remember watching him, Tony Christian and others since I first got into drag racing. I wonder what ended up happening to Popeye?
Old 80s run 2 pumps with regular and it had a regular update 10lbs pumps with a gage with a adjustable screw to regulation on fuel pressure. Thanks for the information you tell everyone. 👍
Lizzy is one of the best female drivers on the planet and shes a lovery person to boot, most guys would panic when they find out they got Lizzy next round, and her dad is a big part of that as they know her cars hauling the bacon
I remember watching u race back in the day u tony christianson like you say anyway this is a video before lizzy passed so condolences to you it is terrible to lose a child us ole guys are suppose to go first but I used to like watching you one of my favorite racers I BELIVE you had a green fancy Camaro back in the day RIP AND I HOPE U ARE UP THERE RACING WITH SOME OF YHE GREATS GONE BUT BUT NOT FORGOTEN HOPE YOU ARE DOING THE BEST YOU CAN PAT MUSI MOTORS FOR THE WIN I DONT KNOW IF ID TRUST MY OLE 440 with nitrous wise words from a wise man you raced wen racing was racing now it’s crazy fast guys running two great big turbos I’ll stick to naturally aspirated brackets that’s all I can afford I guess I could use a little nitrous yep them bottles can be dangerous listen to this man very smart been in this business a long time my condolences again Mr Musi and miss Musi and all that loved her so on the dyno should you not go by the horsepower with out nitrous I got a lot of respect for you I like it wen lizzy ran the Mopar in the PDRA
What is the formula to determine how much shot you can run versus engine cubes? Is saturation point the limitation, or is this a burn rate dynamics issue?
No offence but if your Dyno pull is pulling up like that and then power dropping off like you state, you have some serious problems with that setup. The power will certainly make a huge surge in power when the nitrous activates, But it would still increase exponential based on the NA POWER. If a car on my Dyno starts to rapidly drop off power after the initial increase I abort the run and see what the problem is. I’ve been playing with nitrous for a long time. If you stick to the guidelines and don’t abuse it. It’s a safe way of making power
If you would go one step up on the jet. Is it better have a little more fuel to the nitrous so it will calm that cyclender down to do better in that cyclender. I helped a friend in mid 80s with 340 72 duster. Had fun with the nitrous on 10 inch Firestone. And bleach to do the burn out. Your talk has me thinking of those Fun days I love your UA-cam channel. 💯👍.
My opinion on builders of his status they are artists. If you have a motor built buy Mr. Musi you have the engine equivalent of a Picasso painting. That’s a goal of mine is to be able to have a daily driver / weekend race motor. I know I can’t afford a all out race engine it will have to be able to drive a hr to the track. Make passes and go drive home.
We had a banger button hung on .But Pat because i know you care i will say this your EFI adds higher fuel pressure .So burn a head gasket and cut into a high pressure fuel line thats dangerous to me
It's STILL the same volume of fuel Vs. a carburetor..... The amount of fuel does NOT change when going to E.F.I, it's simply at a higher pressure but a lower flow rate compared to a carburetor which is at a lower pressure but higher flow. Either way, it's still the same exact amount of fuel that the engine consumes no matter if it's E.F.I. or carbed. If a fuel line ruptures, or is cut, the same amount of fuel is going to escape regardless if it's E.F.I or a carburetor. One is NO more "dangerous" than the other
@davelowets Well we will just have a disagreement if I drill into o fuel line with 6psi yes spirt but 50 psi and it's painting the wall across the shop.
Nitrous molecules break down (from the heat) in the cylinder into nitrogen AND oxygen molecules. The extra oxygen that seperates out of the Nitrous molecules when it breaks down ALLOWS you to add extra fuel into the cylinder to what amount of air (oxygen) that was carried in there by the natural induction process going on by the engine itself. Once you add the extra fuel along with the nitrous, the engine will make extra power from the bigger fuel/air charge that is now in the cylinder. If you DON'T add any extra fuel along with the nitrous, the engine WILL go lean because of all the extra oxygen that is introduced into the cylinder when the nitrous breaks down into its individual nitrogen and oxygen molecules, you WILL burn parts down. We ALL know what happens with an acetylene torch when you hit the oxygen lever when the flame is applied to a piece of metal and it gets good and hot, well, that would be what happens inside the cylinder if all that extra oxygen was added, but no extra fuel was added along with it. The extra oxygen WILL find a fuel source, such as pistons, engine block, or head material, if enough fuel isn't present for all the oxygen in there. That's how parts end up torched and holes appear in pistons.
Hey Pat! I'm from Wash. D.C. Do you remember a racer named Johnny Long?? Can you tell me the story about the time you and Johnny ran each other? The reason I want to hear the true story. Here in D.C. and MD. there are all kinds of fibs! Thanks!!! Rick Oliver!!
We was sitting at line in mud drags my nos leaked into motor didn't know it was told fire up 2 850 holley all 8 butterflies folding upwards blew off air breathers in scap hit my face shield cylinoied stuck open bomb in 1982 San Antonio Texas I know that feeling
So Larry olson never did any of your pro stock heads in 78 81& it Wasn't. Skin&bones charlie working for you lol ,come on pat he did your heads,& Warren Johnson lol, Bob Engels or charlie weston never did any of your blocks & in NJ shop when it just opened up, I still have a shit load of respect for !MR Pat Musi as tuner !& when he got a full machine shop he did a olds block perfect for me!,PS boys and girls nobody I mean nobody ones out of the gate shining!
Lol, there's just a little more ro it than that, bud.... It's an air pump that HAS to have the exact proper combustion going on inside said "air pump" also. The "air pump" story is only HALF of the equation. NOW you have to add a fuel to that air, in the exacting correct ratio, and light it off at the exact right time, to achieve the highest horsepower without damaging the parts.... It's NOT "just an air pump".

My starter button is also my purge button (only when the nitrous system is armed).

Love Pat & Lizzy& every man has a great woman, thanks to momma Musi.
Wealth of knowledge, what a man ❤
Thanks for all you do to support the racing industry. Wishing you continued success in the years ahead.
LOVED THIS. BEST TALK YET
Love your knowledge on nitrous
Serious encyclopedia of nitrous❤

If correct thats the old King Kong pro mod from curacao that Lizzy used to drive back then

Whose engine blogck are you using ?
Is anyone running Fords new Pro Stock engine in Pro Mod ?
Was hoping to hear about the 1000" engine that he makes for certain customers?

Don’t mount your fuel line next to a cylinder head gasket
The guys came to Michigan thay were prix not good

Common sense goes a long ways. It’s just an air pump.

I wonder if he and Robert F Kennedy Jr. had the same supplier?
Only thing your thr only one making the parts
used drug money to make it, he is a turd
Proof?
You sound jealous....
Sorry to hear about Lizy's passing Pat! 😪🤤
