    The 2010 election led to the first peacetime coalition government in Britain since 1931. It occurred in the midst of a financial crisis, with Britain facing a large budgetary deficit, necessitating a period of austerity. So difficult was Britain's economic position that Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England, declared that 2010 was an election which any rational party would wish to lose.

    24:52 is it really a safe assumption to think that every UKIP voter would have voted Tory in the absence of a UKIP candidate?

      Yes because UKIP outside of the Euroscepticism (which is cross party) the rest of UKIP's policy proposals are overwhelmingly Conservative. More conservative than the Tories in fact.

      Are there not Eastern Europeans coming here in significant numbers? Shouting 'bigot' no longer works as an argument.
