A unique reunion of one of the winningest owners and winningest drivers in unlimited hydroplane history talk about their amazing success in the 1980's. Including seven straight Gold Cup wins. They talk about the legendary Bill Muncey and carrying on his legacy following his death in 1981. Chip also talks about his favorite driver to race against, Miss Budweiser driver Jim Kropfeld. Fran tells of switching from Merlins to turbine engines in 1984 and the various sponsor changes for her team. The two veterans also add their insight about the future of the sport.
Fran will always be the King of American motorsports
Excellent speech by both Fran and Chip. I met BIll when he drove for Miss Thriftway and met Chip when he drove for Miller American. Both No.1 drivers in my book.
Very enlightning and entertaining, was a good watch
The best driver and owner I ever meet period!
Great people
Thank you kindly for this interview that mentioned something I recalled from the beginning about RR engines and how Griffon compared to Merlin, for me then as they mentioned, the turbine. While waking up at night with Griffon images because I am such a fan of Rolls-Royce history, my future embraced RR on the water. Very nice reunion to note how they feel for one another and what they are describing as a good life in the pit amongst friends.
I got the privilege to meet Fran once & Chip several times, they are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, the best owner & the best driver in the sport. Great video! Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄☃️🙏👍✌️
loved that team post Bill's passing, they were fun and fast!
Very interesting and informative interview; thanks for posting!
Fran always was a very attractive woman!!!
