Jumbo Cornish Cross Chickens Week 2 update

A look at our Jumbo Cornish Cross Rock broilers from McMurray Hatchery. Along with some new Premiere 1 fencing for our egg layers and a quick update on the pigs status. Almost time to fill the freezer!

When you integrated your new layer hens with the old ones, how old were the younger hens? We've heard of problems (with the old ones killing the younger ones) if trying to integrate too quickly.

So our first 3 years raising chickens we got new chicks each consecutive year. Every spring when the new group was ready we would toss them in the coop with the old hens in the middle of the night. Never had any casualties. However, they always establish a "pecking order"
