This is probably one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. As someone who was in a toxic/abusive relationship it really speaks to me. It’s okay to be selfish, it’s okay to put yourself first, your happiness matters and sometimes you are the one that needs to give yourself that happiness. Great reaction to a great song 👍🏻

Even during what were supposed to be her high points in her life with Justin, or her "chorus," Justin was off key, meaning he was not tuned in to her needs or wants or in sync with her. Through her career, since the "Selena vs Miley" days she has been THE selected target of hate/bigotry from an overwhelming mass of various fan bases, which brought Severe Depression to her and created Insomnia, then started dealing with Lupus effects, and, not only one kidney transplant, but also a FOLLOW UP operation because the transplant kidney started to fail and that made her anxious and stressful--not saying she wasn't before. People also forget she lost a VERY dear friend in a meet-and-greet in Florida from a crazed fan gun shooting: Christina Grimmie. This is A LOT to deal with, specially for a humble and kind and good-hearted person like Selena, who is very passionate and compassionate about all things she cares about, which is also a lot.
Shit yeah. I always forget that Christina was one of her friends. That will have hit her hard.
Actually that line refers to the time they recorded a song together called Cant Steal Our Love and his verse is AWFUL. He's off key and didn't bother to even learn the lyrics just because he didn't want her to look good :(

She fought with her mom defending Justin. She put him first over her family. She asked him to marry him and persuaded him to go on couple counseling. But over a fight they called a break to calm it dowm and thinking it over but suddenly he was engaged to other girl in TWO MONTHS! That thing that he did shocked her to the core. She had to be rushed to hospital for low white blood due to the stress i believe. Poor girl 😥
So when they were on a break was it like they broke up broke up or were just supposed to chill. Either way he still dogged her. What a chickenshit.
Narcissistic he didn’t want to go to counseling because if he would have gone he would have had to face up to the type of behavior he had inflicted on her and narcissist really aren’t up for that. After being with the Weekend, support from her family and just herself knowing it wasn’t her all the time which I am sure he did quite often from watching older videos of her, she wasn’t going back I dint think if he didn’t go to counseling. When he saw that her family had their opinion and she just wasn’t just going to run back into his arms.
I think the best thing that could have happened to her was the 10 months she was with the weekend. She got a taste of what it was like not to be in a relationship where everything got twisted back on her.
I truly think that that was the reason she wanted counseling like her song states we always went into it blindly. Every time they got back together they never got to hbd bottom of why they keep breaking up.
Just like now he was expecting a song from this broke little girl he left anc then stomped on her heart with the engagement process but that’s not we he got. . He was expecting her to write a break up song This is not a boohoo you broke my heart break up song to me this is Deliverance on a silver platter what she wanted to say and never got to.

They can't deal with being on the wrong so they persuade you to invalidate your own feelings. Great lyrics, great melody. Selena learned her lesson. Being in a toxic relationship, everything had become an addiction. And Justin mentally abused her. Breaking up with Justin was a gain for Selena, not a loss. Loss is for Justin. He didn't deserve all her love and now he's paying for all the harm he's done to her. He alone has mental health issues. What Justin doesn't know is that no one can build their happiness on the unhappiness of others. In other words, his "happiness" with Hailey will be overshadowed by the unhappiness caused to Selena. This is karma and unfortunately you will pay for it.

He was on hard core drugs, he has admitted that, that made their relationship very toxic in it's self, they broke up because of those drugs. I forget when and who. Yet Justin was planning to announce a sex video, as if it was Selena in the video and it wasn't. He promised some comedian that he'd do it, Selena clearly had no idea about it either, some of the comedian's fan's exposed the comedian and Justin, they were not okay with it, the comedian had a breakdown on his live stream, begging Justin to keep his promise, and call the show. Justin clearly found out that Selenators knew about their plan, so he did not call the show. That night Selena was with Justin, a photo surfaced of her on the stage with Justin on his tour. She looked brokenhearted and upset. It looked like she was crying. The speaking part of her music video 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' was taken from one of 'Selena's counseling sessions', it's about Justin. The part she mentions on stage in that song, I think was about that night, that he was going to body shame her, for that online comedian, that photo of her on stage, that I mentioned leaking out, makes me think that.
