Hang in there Doug!!! I just got over my second battle with a respiratory virus. I got over it, then right after I got better I got it again. There is definitely something going around! Hang in there!!! Thanks for the video😁😁😁
That’s so funny! I carved a ghost while watching tv last night, then I get up today & see your video of a ghost carving! I see where I could have added some details & done some things better, but that it what I love most about your channel. I learn from you & my carving skills are vastly improved because of you & your channel. Thanks Doug & keep the great tutorials coming!
Hey Doug! Love the little guys! 👍🏻 I got my first issue of Woodcarving Illustrated and was happy to see it was the one with your article in it. Thanks for the video, always like them, and have a speedy recovery.
Thanks again for another great video. I was thinking a person could use a piece of coat Hanger wire between the base and the gosht. Also your voice is so relaxing. Like bob Ross in joy of painting
Thanks for posting these. I started carving about four months ago with a beaver craft knife set. After deciding that I wanted to continue carving as a hobby I purchased three OCC knives. The OCC knives have taken my carving to another level. Learning with the first set made me much more deliberate with my technique so now I’m much more confident with my carving. I really enjoy watching your videos and getting new ideas for things to carve. This is such a relaxing hobby for me.
Hi Doug. Per Coffee and Carving: I have a great street / address hitching post sign. Very simple. I used a 6X6 with a premade cap. I carved the address part from cypress. The Woodcraft store suggested this. It hangs from some special metal links that go into an eyehook. This allows me to take it down. I just don't have a way to send you a picture.
Another great video, learn something new with every one. I've always liked your funny comments throughout your videos but I must say I absolutely love the added bloopers at the end of this one! 😂
You my favorite teacher, I'll return in winter Planning to make myself a good-great set of tools for carving I'm pretty good at Blacksmith hobbyist skills too. Thanks
Doug, Thank you so much !! I'm a real newbie to this hobby. It's nice to see the use of a few other tools. I'm so new to this I don't have a clue about gouges or V-tools. It might be fun to see you do the Right side of a carving with knife only and the Left using other tools in order to introduce them and help those of us who are clueless understand how they are used. Thank You and Bless You
Spooktastic!, - enjoyed this one, I'm with Sophie, no mouth, don't want the ghosts to be too friendly do we? I've watched and enjoyed this video numerous times - Thanks Doug
Sorry your under the weather. Hope you feel better soon. To be honest you never let it show while you were carving. That will be a great addition to my fall grouping I have pumpkins and scarecrow you demonstrated…. Many thanks again.
Thank you for video,is so good watching you carving so relaxing you always carving beautiful, take care and Happy Thanksgiving for you and your family.
Hi doug thank you for your time, i just saw a HEDGEHOG on temu its a dog toy but i thought it would be a Great whittle project what do you think?!?! Also as you were doing the under cut i thought... what if the was an orange trick o treat bag hanging down from under the sheet?
BOO !!! 👻👻👻 FANTASTIC . DOUG you never disappoint. I was thinking of different Ghosts to carve and there we have it.... another Linker Miracle. Thanks buddy. Stay safe 😉
Great whittle, thanks! Do you have any suggestions for how to seal / waterproof the final carving for placement outdoors? I've used polyurethane before but black spots eventually showed up on the wood. Any suggestions much appreciated!
What wonderfull talent and imagination you have i enjoy your videos thank you .from Australia wish we had that timber here every thing is very hard wood ,take care .
Do you oil before painting it? Or do you only oil ones that aren’t being painted? Also what’s with the bees wax? Same question. Do you put that on after painting or just carvings without paint? Do you use it if you already used the oil or is it in place of the oil?
oil before paint for a more even paint job -keeps the wood from sucking the paint in -i use howard feed and wax after paint (no wax ever before paint) to finish and if i'm not painting at all i just use that
Casper the friendly Ghost 👻. Who are we going to call? The Ghost Busters! I love your little cravings. So simple.

Great whittle, thanks! Do you have any suggestions for how to seal / waterproof the final carving for placement outdoors? I've used polyurethane before but black spots eventually showed up on the wood. Any suggestions much appreciated!
I’ve heard of people using spar varnish (the same you would use on a wooden boat)
@@dougLinker I'll give that a try, thanks Doug!
Get well soon

Doug, can you whittle a traditional type frosty the snow man?
i'm sure there will be a snowman of some sorts in the future -but lets not rush the snow lol
I worked on one of these this evening. Mine kind of looks like an owl. 😂 Maybe I’ll try to turn it into one.
Thats epic! Can u carve something else thats small for halloween? Maybe a pumpkin man or a monster out of the 1 by 2 wood? 😊
👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👍🏻👍🏻 thanks Feel better Thanks
Combined the ghost with the pumpkin head for "ghost of pumpkin past " .
